Later he evolved to a master boxer / puncher. The fight with Naseem Hamed was the primer example of Barerra’s evolution. McKenny was an excellent top of his game fighter. This was one helluva fight. The great Marco Antonio Barrera showed his toughness and skill and won the fight.

Jones Jr. was the "expert" commentator? He was totally bias towards McKinney...he let this bias fog his vision and judgment. I've never seen The Champ so relaxed and confident as in this fight. Marvin Hagler was 33 when he retired, Chicanito Hernandez retired at 32, Ray Mancini at 31, Erik Morales was 31 when he 1st retired after the lost to Diaz. The Ruelas brothers retired around the 30 mark. Gabriel was 32. Rafael was 28. Today that looks young because guys fight less now and their careers stretch out longer. Barrera won because he was a great fighter. Had nothing to do with age. The odd thing was the next year Barrera was knocked out by Junior Jones giving Barrera his first loss. But in Jones next fight McKinney knocks out Jones. I loved the 90s.
