Hi gavin, there's no need for a centre main strap on this particular build as the engine won't be revving much over 6000rpm 👍

I watched all of the Luke’s Mini series, there was a heck of a lot wrong with it, and as they say you can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
It’s a disappointing outcome for both Will and Luke. I think I mentioned there, that I’ve just spent 16 grand and three years on my Mini and it’s not a patch on yours or Toonys but it’s fine for me. It takes a lot of brass to get a mini where you want it.
Will worked hard and did his best, and comes across as a nice guy. He says himself he’s learning all the time.

I will be putting an 1.0 eco Boost in my 1989 racing green mini. it’s the way to go now days and I’m not having it done at z cars I will be attempt it my self I cannot wait to start this project in winter ready for next spring or summer 👍

Yes it will and it will run better on e10 fuel so I’m not stuck finding a fuel station what stock e5 fuel when I’m out of my own Town. And it’s more the way to go for me. it’s gets good Power and good fuel economy I will keep my mg metro 1275 engine if i want to reinstall it in the future.

Nice vid bud, glad you’re back. Shame about Luke’s car, feel a bit sorry for the pair of them cos it’s easy to see Will puts his heart & soul into his work, but is limited with space and access, and Luke must have been expecting so much better after 6 months.

Nice video! Shame about luke's car, I did watch wills videos and most of the repairs did look a bit dodgy and bodged. But Will was trying to help a friend out but sometimes it's worth waiting and getting the right person to do the job properly
Yeh I don’t doubt he was trying to help a mate out, if it was wills car that needed tapirs I’d be doing the same with a go fund me for him
Cracking engine, great content TCR ....crazy you've only fitted a simplex chain though to that 1380 initially. At a minimum I'd have fitted a duplex. a Vernier is even better. 👌🤣

Very nice engine spec! What sort of carb & dizzy setup are you going for? I'm not far off fitting a new 1330 into my Mk1 with not too dissimilar specs from yours with the same compression ratio and similar parts being used, but it's a pre-A+ with a Swiftune SW8 cam, and 1.5 rockers sat on a 1275gt gearbox with straight cut drops and 3.44 diff. Hoping to get between 90-100hp ideally with twin HS4 carbs, so I reckon yours should be good for 90+ once it's run in and set up right with a good carb(s) setup and distributor!

It's going to be a completely different beast with a 1380 underneath it and at least you know with Paul Jeffries building it you're guaranteed a great reliable engine, I'm well aware of how highly he's thought of in the Mini community. Are the brakes and suspenion up to it or are they going for the renew treatment too?
Brakes will happen further down the line dude! Need to sort the house first haha

@TomShorrock I am currently also rebuilding my own mini and need to choose which color i'm gonna repaint it. So i was wondering what color red you used on your mini.
Hi Vic, it’s Tartan Red the Ral I used was RD33
I took my mini to Chester mini center years ago and they ripped me off with oversills and second hand parts dodgy repaired floor for 2k and didn’t even change my clutch when they had the engine out. The clutch went three months later and they charged me another 400 to fix it.
yeh oversills are the worst dude!

Will is a sound guy, I just think maybe he took too much on, I don’t doubt his best interest at heart was to help, and if it was Wills mini I’d be doing the same for him with the go fund me etc 🤘🏻

And from what Iv seen will is to nice for his own good. i wish someone like Will was always there to help me in my hour need when iv got problems with my classic mini.
I am building a 1310 to swap out my 998. Someone sent me the link to your engine swap video and I thought I'd have a look back through these. I noticed this engine has a Simplex rather than a Duplex Chain with a Chain Tensioner? You mention in the video a Vernier Setup, this must have been installed later?
Hi Bill, your engine sounds lovely, in response to your question we changed it afterwards, the vernier one hadn’t arrived in tike for the day the episode was filmed,🤘🏻
@@TomShorrock I too went with an AC Cam, but the next one down the AC RS, a little more driveable. MED ST1 Clutch and Flywheel. Always doing things the hard way me, such as spotting and buying a Weber DCOE 45 and buying it. Now I need to cut the bulkhead, which could throw up all sorts of extra problems!! Oh, doing the head myself, this car has been an episode of first!!
