The Classic car restoration series is back, with our classic Mini Mk1 Conversion. We’re glad to be back and to be able to update you of where we have been over the past few months and to share with you a montage of the work we’ve carried out so fare. In this episode you will see the fabrication work needed to convert this 1989 classic Mini Racing Flame into a 1960 Mk1 Cooper. All in this video.

I had not forgotten the incredible amount of work you put in to revert the body back to MK1 Spec, but still amazed once again to see it all again in your great recap. There can be no doubt at all that you are the owners of the healthiest authentic MK1 shell IN THE WORLD and you should be justifiably proud of yourselves. The amount of effort to change the cant rails alone was heroic. You've practically built a MK1 shell complete, using the MK2 as a jig! Still amazed how much of the shell differed between the two generations. Thank you and glad to see you back!

A guy like me would look at this and go "what difference does the rear window being a half inch bigger make, who's even going to know?"

51 years and 14 Minis later, you two skillful men showed me how little I know about the car really. This is one of the finest Mini videos I have seen in years as it highlights the many differences in the shells that so many of us did not know. Rear window, lower door apertures yes, but did not realise to the extent the rear pax windows and upper door window frame differed so much. Excellent work!

Some people might say there is very little 1960's mini in this car ,but i'd say after watching this video there is very little 1989 Mini in the finished car too ,it's just pieces of steel in the end,as long as you don't decieve anyone into thinking it's a total original car(which very few cars are really) it's OK Nice job ,never knew there were so many little differences ,thanks for the video.

Hey boys nice to see you both back on UTUBE hope dad's doing better health wise ,as a kid in the 60,s in Australia British cars were everywhere ,my Dad had a 52 Morris minor it was his Mums car ,I learnt to drive in it in 73 side valve slow but reliable didn't like summer fuel would vapourise badly would have to get out wrap a rag around the fuel pump and pour water over it to get it to go,great memories for me growing up with this morris ,my dream was a mini Hot Bricks don't know if it was an Australian or you had them in England think it was a Cooper S dressed up ,but enough about me love the project mini did you finish the Mazda mx2 ,I think that was the last post I saw ,anyhow boys glad your back
