This video is a complete timelapse of the restoration my friend Mark and I did on a 1990 Mini Mayfair which we built into a Knight Rider Themed show car in tribute to the 80's TV series. The car was restored from a rusty shell in time to show at the London to Brighton Mini Run 2019. The work started in December 2018 and was completed in just under 6 months / 180 days. All work including the paintwork was carried out by Mark and Myself however we did sub out the paint to be machine polished by professionals.
KITT is a 1275cc A+ Automatic with TCK Stage 3 cylinder head and 1.5 ratio roller rockers running a standard SPI single point injection system. Suspension is full Moulton smooth ride kit with Hi Lo's and Mini Sport 4 pot 8.4" vented brake discs. Paint is 2k gloss black with metallic flake in the lacquer. Kitt has a custom interior, dash and door build with central locking, voice synthesizer and full digital dash.

KITTs lovely well done . Used to be able to buy a tidy mini in the 80s for under £200 . Probably worth ten grand or more now . What the world needs now is a new mini mini .
Bought my 1989 Mayfair for £300 in 2003. Apparently it's worth over £8k now. Still not selling.

The nice thing about minis is that they are so customizable. I did a similar project on my channel but backdated mine. It’s cool to see such different versions of the same car in this video. 👍
Me in quarantine watching this and thinking, if only i had a project like this right now would have done a terrible job but at lest my days wouldn't suck so much.

Superb job. Also love he ERA mini, my dad and brother worked at ERA in dunstable for many years i remember dad coming home and saying how good the turbo minis looked. He always came home with a few spares for my miini 35. Still sitting in the drive needs quite a bit od work doing on it. It has the original prototype ERA dashboard which i fitted myself.
Wow cool, we have literally just started a restoration on a red ERA. I will be putting a build video up in the next day or so

.........simply amazing.........but one major mistake.........the steering wheel was installed on the wrong side of the car !.........but at the end of the video, i could see everyone driving on the wrong side of the road so that major mistake worked in their favor..............!...........fantastic work........nothing but respect for these great people.......!

It's all very well having a go at Project Binky, but I didn't see many brackets or cups of tea being made here.
LOL, we would never put ourselves on the same level as Binky, those guys are pros, especially in the tea drinking category 😂
Now then, don't sell yourselves short. I reckon you've done a fabulous and highly professional job by anybody's standards. BTW, I liked the bit about the missing VIN - oh for the days when all they did was to look out of the window for the reg number to put on the ticket, eh?

The fibreglass dash was from Ebay and was around £80.00. The Dash in Bolt was from Curley Uk.
What brand of mini headlights are those. Looking at upgrading my track car headlights
They came from www.totalcarreviews.com Perfect for show or track but you might have some issues for MOT in the UK

No, I don't think so. They come E coated from Heritage

Thanks Lawrence. As Keith says, just a hobby. For me it's also a break from my everyday job as a builder/carpenter, takes my mind off work for a bit. Funny you should say that, i'm going to be selling KITT soon! Not everyone's cup of tea so a limited market. Also, probably going to put my Pick up up for sale soon too. 😉
