  • Custom hybrid/cross e-bike conversion based on Trek FX aluminium bike with a mid drive TSDZ2B engine and standard 12Ah 48V battery.
    Bike is using Shimano Deore M6000 1x10 drive train which replaced the basic Shimano Altus 3x8. The rest of components like wheels, etc. remain same. The goal was to get the best performance for as cheap as possible.
    Total weight of a ride ready bike is under 19kg.

    I have a Trek Verve 3 that I am planning to convert sometime in the coming months. I can only hope to be as meticulous as you were with this build! Absolutely beautiful work! Truly inspirational!

      @@custombikefactory it is a very clean build as the other person said. I think I could work it out eventually but it was hard. Very impressive.

    Where might I be able to have this done in my local area? What are the electric parts needed?

    • @custombikefactory
      @custombikefactory  Před 2 měsíci

      Most of this could be done in your trusted local bike shop, but for sure they will not want to customize the engine and firmware. Electric parts can be bought on Chinese e-marketplaces directly or your local online shops, I am sure that specialized sellers will also be able to help with custom software installation.

    I’m about to do the same with my 2024 fx3. What size tires are those?

    • @custombikefactory
      @custombikefactory  Před 2 měsíci

      These are CST Pika 700x38C. Good luck with your project as the frame is ideal for such customization!

    Where did you buy that paint i have an fx2 same color, love to do some touch up

    • @custombikefactory
      @custombikefactory  Před rokem +1

      Well, this is actually some of the paint I use for gluing plastic models in the old days ;-). For small things you can get away with mixing blue with black or white to get it closer to your color and adding filed down aluminium particles to imitate metallic shade.

    How much did everything cost? I have a old trek fx3 I’d like to do a peddle assist conversion like this one.

      I am not the owner, but the bike works all fine, however due to winter season and the weather, it has not yet done any serious mileage. You can check my other ebike build video - where I used the previous generation of same engine and also opened the software so I can summarize that one. It is also a similar type of bike that so far have about 1500km including some really hilly areas and I can only say positive things, so far no need of servicing or any adjusting. There was literally one case where the motor shutdown without any reason, but after computer restart everything was OK. With a quality made small 10Amp 48V battery, it can easily achieve 100km distance using the 1 level of support while riding on flat terrain. In the mountains the range drops 50%. For non-sport driving, I would definitely recommend it as the of the shelf, official e-bikes are nowhere near to a happy face that you get while riding this simple converted machine.

    I would've gone for a bigger battery - go big, or go home as they say.

  • @ericman4023
    @ericman4023 Před rokem +1

    This is very silly. This is not a conversion kit - it’s a total rebuild of a bike. Might as well just buy an e-bike to begin with

    • @custombikefactory
      @custombikefactory  Před rokem +1

      Well for me either I do the project to 100% or not bother. And trust me a ready of the shelf ebike is not even close to such a converted bike when it comes to fun factor.
