When I first heard "vegan cruise" I could not stop laughing for 10 minutes straight. Those are 2 words I never thought could be connected.
The most wasteful group activity using the most dirty fossil fuel (=dead animals), then calling it vegan and selling it with "for the environment". Somehow that struck me as bloody hilarious.
Whoever came up with the idea was smart. And whatever boss did not stop it because for it's abvious stupidity is a genius.
All about da money :D They saw a group of people and just went like "theres no option for them yet" - start the project and hope people are stupid enough... which they usually are :D
Fossil fuels are not dead animals. That is a really silly myth. Oil mostly comes from plankton (algae, bacteria and such things) and coal is mostly decayed plant matter.
Man.. me and my boyfriend (two vegans here) were thinking the exact same... and then those people all serious explaining why they are vegans... come oon... xD

I´m a German vegan and Iwouldn´t go on a cruise because of the pollution of the water. There are animals living in those oceans who need clean water.

Have you seen the scary amount of e-scooters people throw into a river? Or in general, the amount of trash humans dispose into the water either because of laziness or just pure ignorance by simply ignoring the living in the water completely just because these humans only care about themselves and even worse is their double-standard... they say right in front of the camera how much they care about Environment but at the same time when nobody is watching they simply do the total opposite.

As a vegan I think you're really respectful. Many people think they have to turn into complete aholes as soon as they hear the word "vegan", so it's refreshing to see someone who doesn't.

Well Extra3 is essentially a production centered around satire. From sketches on stage over songs they produce to short documentaries like this one. The format "Realer Irrsinn" has it in its name "real insanity" or more like "unbelievable stuff but its actual reality". They dont focus on bureaucracy primarily.
I bet Ryan doesn´t know that "Realer Irrsinn" is just one segment of a whole 30 min comedy/satire show called "Extra 3".

Im not vegan nor vegetarian, but I dont drink milk and eat meat very rarely. there are already pretty nice vegan dishes in restaurant nowadays so theres no reason to keep eating meat all the time. in fact, yes the population grows continuously and we need to get more farmland down to feed all humans cause they all want their meat... its more efficient to be vegan, yes everyone should be one. but its the mindset that needs to change, and its by starting to not joke about vegans. but yea we humans are pretty dumb, so I dont see hope at all.

I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I reduced my meat consumption. My health improved.
I do agree with you that just because you are not perfect in every aspect you should not be allowed to do anything. That being said, cruise ships should be illegal.

Funfact... Driving your car pointlessly/aimlessly, so just for fun without any direction, is called cruising ('herumcruisen') AND it's forbidden! If they catch you and figure it out, you have to pay a fine of 100 EUR. If you do it with a cruise ship it's OK. 🤔 That's what I call 'realer Irrsinn'.
I'm not vegan. I have slaughtered animals myself. Still nowadays I find myself buying the vegan alternative in 90% of all my "meat" purchases because I just like it better. There are just two products where I like the meat variant better, than the vegan one. Tuna and Liver-Sausage. Everything else I use the alternative products and I also save money, because they are cheaper than the meat prices... Never thought I would give up on meat, but here I am without any moral or enviromental reasons, buying vegan and vegetarian stuff and I like it.

Yes I also love the chems and flavours and yeast extracts from the lab in vegan meat much better than plain old pork with salt and pepper and herbs. But I am still thankful for meat eaters to exist. There is so much waste being produced by making vegan products. It's not like you use the whole bean or plant when producing tofu, milks and other things of plant protein with a changed structure on a chemical level. Thanks to meat eaters we have enough animals to feed the waste to because this waste isn't even good for fertilazation.

Absolutely. I had the choice of buying expensive af meat to get some that isn’t all veiny - or buying the perfectly textured, vegan alternative, that’s cheaper too.
Easy one. But when it’s about a nice old cheese or Hessische Ahle Wurscht… there is no good alternative yet
Bei vegan geht es nicht nur ums Fleischessen, sondern auch um sonstige tierische Produkte.
Es gibt ja auch die ganz hart gesottenen, die bspw. auf Lederprodukte (Gürtel, Schuhe, usw.), Kosmetik, etc. verzichten. Das führt ja auch inzwischen dazu, das Autohersteller damit zu punkten versuchen, dass die Materialien für das Interieur vegan sind, und Produkte, die noch nie mit/aus tierischen Materialien hergestellt wurden bzw. bestanden, jetzt als vegan beworben werden.

Its stupid to talk about the environment on a cruise but a "vegan" cruise is still kind of better than a normal cruise I guess
Nope it does not really matter anymore and is because flying from all over the world probably even worse(it is not impossible to make vegan holidays just between not vegan people like you live the rest of the year between them).
If i would be picky i would ask if it is vegan to use products made from already dead animals to be vegan? If your answer is no then the bad news for you mineral oil is not only from plants.
But the real joke on that one is that they advertise the whole trip with sustainability and environmental reason.
A plane full of meat is better than a vegan cruise, though...
Everyone claims to protect the environment and in the end everyone flies around the world or makes cruises, only on top of that not even vegan.
Seems it's easier to make fun of vegans than of your own lies.
@@vomm I'd rather say those of us not flying around, not taking cruises, and not being vegan to save the planet, are at least being consequent.
I will give you that anyone claiming they want to protect the environment and flies away for holidays or takes cruises are hypocritical. But that goes for everyone, not only for vegans. Heck, for vegans who are vegan because they just don't want to eat animal it's not even a contradiction on that part.
A cruise is quite inefficient in terms of CO2 usage, yes. Comparable to flying; If you mainly do it to get from A to B it's actually worse than flying. If you want to explore the baltic while reducing your climate impact you're actually better off just renting a car (presumably if you're trying to minimise your climate impact you're already avoiding car ownership, because for most people that's one of their biggest if not the biggest list item) for a couple days and taking short distance ferries for crossings.
If you love "Realer Irrsinn", you'll also love the "Hammer der Woche" (hammer of the week - with "hammer" being a colloquial term for something that so great or awful that it knocks the wind out of you) which covers similar topics in a similar style - and is arguably better! Dunno if there are youTube uploads of it, though.

Not as "madness" as doing non-vegan cruises as a meat eater and claiming to protect the environment. Nobody says anything about that :)
@mk everyone who does cruises and say they fight for the environment has a mental problem. :) But people who don't eat animal-products, because of the "environment", fly hours to their departure haven and later back to their homes, are hypocrites. 🤷♀️

Hey I’m a German vegan and I can only speak for myself but, if you are vegan because of the environment it sounds very hypocritical to go on cruise. And being a vegan with all the sausages… I loved sausages and meat my whole life before I became vegan many years ago, but I don’t need it and I love living animals more than sausages. Simple. Nowadays it’s really easy to be vegan with all the new products. sry for my bad english.
In my humble opinion it's a matter on how you want to spend resources, not whether you are "allowed" to spend your resources by principle. I mean as a vegan you should be used to all of these black and white arguments by friends or family desperately trying to gloss over the moral problems with whataboutisms and how hypothetical you are for the most unrelated reasons.
Fact is producing meat products is multiple times worse for the environment than anything else relatively speaking. Producing meat is the worst magic trick in the world, because it creates a product with 100 kcal (energy) for example out of umpteen times the energy necessary to create it. Meat eaters sometimes claim that the soy production for vegans is bad for the environment when two third of all soy production goes into the meat industry.
Even the worst vegan product (avocados for example) are 20 times less harmful for the environment than the "best" animal product. The relations are just off the charts.
In other words, I don't see a problem there when a vegan who is vegan for environmental reasons is taking a cruise. He can probably take multiple cruises a year and is still behaving better for the environment than most non-vegans.
Das Einzige was ich in meinen 5 veganen Jahren wirklich vermisst habe: Käse! Auch wenn die Industrie dahinter einfach nur beschissen is xD Aber für Käse gibt es leider keinen wirklich guten Ersatz außer so Standardkram.. aber Gorgonzola zum Beispiel.. das kriegste einfach nich vegan hin leider.. zumindest bisher ^^
Bin zwar nicht mehr vegan, aber nutze überwiegend dennoch die veganen alternativen und hol tierische Produkte lieber seltener, bezahl aber dann auch den Preis für eine ""angemessene"" Haltung. Nich ideal aber besser als nichts^^
Und ja, Veganer die sich auf praktisch die schlimmste CO2 Schleuder begeben und am besten zu dieser noch mit dem Flugzeug fliegen... kein Plan was in deren Köpfen falsch läuft, wenn Sie das nicht nur wegen dem Tierwohl sondern auch für die Umwelt tun :D

@@Alexxandra3110 Käse is halt einfach beste und halt auch so extrem vielfältig - gerade als absoluter Kochliebhaber is das einfach n Produkt was du echt schwer ersetzen kannst :D
Jau, kla, müssen die wissen :D Würde die jetzt nicht lynchen aber schon fragen, ob die denken, dass es Sinn macht was zu unterstützen was beinahe täglich hunderte Tonnen oder mehr CO2 in die Umwelt pustet, einfach um die meiste Zeit eh einfach nur Wasser zu sehen :D Da können die auch ne Tour mit dem Auto in diese Städte machen und sich RnB's suchen, is am Ende weit umweltfreundlicher als son Cruiseship xD (und noch dazu erlebste dazu mehr wie zB die Umgebung und Natur dieser Orte und nich nur den Hafen einer Stadt und diese selbst)
@@TheCovenant2 es gibt ein oder zwei Sorten veganen Käse die ganz gut sind… Aber geschmacklich nicht an Käse heran kommen, allerdings ist es schon so lange her das ich „normalen“ Käse gegessen habe, dass ich nicht weiß ob mich der Geschmack jetzt nicht umhauen würde😂 ich habe aber auch nicht vor es auszuprobieren.
Wie die das vertreten können würde mich auch interessieren, macht für mich wie gesagt absolut keinen Sinn. Kreuzfahrten haben mich persönlich auch nie angesprochen.

And while I dislike cruises in general, the only vegans who I'd look at puzzled for making a vegan cruise is the ones who are vegan for the environment specifically. Because they are kinda shooting themselves in the foot. Sure, they are allowed to do that, but it does send a mixed message.
You said you want to try “raw pork” but fun fact: I’m a German and I never ate raw pork (mett). And now I’m vegetarian because of the animals and environment so I’ll probably never try it.
It’s not that I don’t like meat but I think it’s not necessary to eat it.

There are vegan recipes for Mett, so you can still try it. :) I have eaten meat based Mett as a child before I went vegan and I think that a well made vegan Mett is on the same level when it comes taste, and even better when it comes to the animals, environment, food safety etc. :)
Same, but im vegan and only 16 so I didnt have much time to try all of these stuff. But I actually dont have the need or something to eat this in m oppinion disgusting shit...
@@SerendipityRoad oh that’s great. Maybe I’m gonna try some some day. I think vegan products are really getting better. Recently I tried a vegan “leberberwurst” and the taste was quite similar to the one with meat. Even better because no animal was involved.

No worries, your takes weren't mean at all. They were as balanced as they could be for an Omni. Loved that you even took a stance for vegans not having to live under a rock. Many are vegan for the animals, but socializing with other like-minded ppl is important for your mental health, and this is one way to do it.

From that point of view, a sailing trip would be far more sustainable, even if they only ate Schnitzel all day.
I could eat meat the rest of my life and don't cause as much CO2 as vegan people do flying to an other continent to meet other vegan people on a cruise ship. The 1 lady did it 10 times.
@Mindcrawler23 funny thing is, this cruise was pre Covid and the organizers had planned to do the next one on a sailing ship. But then Covid hit and I have never heard of it again. So maybe the next one will actually be on a sailing cruise.

Ab dem 19. Jahrhundert sind viele aus Deutschland nach Südamerika speziell auch Argentinien ausgewandert, auch heute noch gibt es dort Siedlungsgebiete mit deutlicher deutscher Prägung. Da ist erstmal nichts komisches dran, dass sie ihren Familiennamen behalten haben.
Den Namen Kindermann tragen aber Leute diverser Konfessionen, so auch Juden. Im Web finden sich auf Anhieb Artikel über Leute mit dem Namen, die kurz vor und/oder früh im 2. Weltkrieg noch nach Südamerika geflogen sind, aus Polen, Böhmen und Mähren bspw.
Je nachdem wann sie ausgewandert sind, könnte man nach heutigen Gesichtspunkten auch sagen 'obiously' Polen, Tschechen, Österreicher, aber nichts genaues weiß man nicht, sagt man so schön.

But it MAY be hypocritical if you say your main reason for being a vegan is the environment :D

I really do it mainly because of my love for animals, but it also has the advantage that you save CO2 where you can make an exception elsewhere. I mean E.g go on a cruise every two or three years, how harmful is that compared to people who eat meat every day or at least every week?
Well, according to studies, a 7 day cruise produces around 1900 kg co2 per person. Being vegan reduces around 670 kg co2 per year and person. So going on a cruise every third year and eating meat are pretty much the same, if you‘re just talking about co2.
that one lady in the end shouldve stayed a meat eater in order to save the environment because going on 10 vegan cruises had wayy more of a negative impact than just eating meat lol

You should try vegan burgers. They taste just as good as those made from beef. A few days ago I gave one to my neighbour and she didn't realize it was vegan.

And the nitric oxide emission of 1.42 *million* VW Passat TDI
is equal to the emissions of *ONE* cruise ship.
The average passenger count of a cruise ship is about 3000 people.
So the average vegan attendee here emits 7150x the amount of fine dust
and 433.3x the amount of nitric oxide your average station wagon driver produces (and many people have smaller cars). Just attending one cruise is probably worse than an entire life of lots of meat eating 😅

At the moment this combination (environmental protection and cruise) is absolutely nonsensical - in maybe 20 years, I think, this can be a much more environmentally friendly combination - excluding it forever, I think is too short-sighted. I'm in the yacht sector and I already see great efforts - because the customer wants it - to replace the huge diesel units - whether it's hydrogen and batteries in combination and other exciting innovations that will probably first appear in the superyacht and yacht in the coming months and years sector and then commercial shipping - similar developments are already happening in aviation - so I think it's a silly idea at the moment but not in the medium-term future!
Not every vegan cares about the environment. Some just don't like to eat meat.

I’m baffled how you don’t realize the first second of the video, no in the title even that the fact that they take a cruise ship of all things is massively contradicting the principles of veganism and that this is the whole point of this video.
Cruise ships are the worst way of travelling there is.

Well, veganism is first and foremost a purely ethical movement, which is clearly stated in the official definition from the Vegan Society. The fact that it also brings other benefits such as health and sustainability is an add-on, but not the core of veganism. Many vegans have an increased awareness of the environment, simply because they have inevitably dealt with the aspects. Nevertheless, it is absolutely no contradiction to book a cruise or a flight as a vegan, since it is, as said, an animal ethical movement. And as you said so well yourself, it is wrong to expect absolute perfection from people just because they are vegan. "All or nothing" thinking has never helped anyone. I loved your reaction on this! 🤗
Vegans and vegetarians can do what they think is best for them and their bodies. What puzzles me time and time again is how many of them are so overly critical and intolerant against meat eaters. I do know very few vegans who don't think themselves of being like a better class of a human being and often are pretty arrogant and sometimes even aggressive.
Relax, let everyone eat what he prefers.

Also, it's definitely not our goal to force people to be vegan like the Militante Veganerin is trying to do, but we're trying to enlighten people with arguments and examples as to why we're doing it and why they should do it.

I love to live on this planet - together with other humans. The planet will be the planet, but with sea levels and temperatures, many animals (including humans) will not survive. We don‘t hate eating meat per se. Proper vegans hate having animals killed for pleasure. I‘m not a proper vegan, I stopped eating animal products for my health and love the environmental advantages. The way farmed animals are treated is so horrible! You go ahead being mean, vegan or not I would never go on a cruise. Even if the ships were powered by fairy dust. Everybody has to eat less meat. Or cultured meat, although thats still not on the market as far as I‘m aware. It‘s not just the cows farting by the way. The animals need so much food and give us back so few calories and this takes up so much space (destroying rain forests etc.) that we need for animal habitats and forests, because it is forests that have been keeping this planet livable all this time.

@@TheCovenant2 Yes, it's surely beautiful! It's just way too cold! :) Also for me, the Baltic Sea is so close that I could go there by train with a cheap ticket, I need something more exotic. But I would totally go on th cruise. lol. Hopefully, they'll find a better energy source for cruise ships too, I don't understand why they don't try to use wind and solar energy.

I think there actually is a wind- and solar powered cruise ship.. and if Im not wrong its even norwegian too (what a coincidence) - but ya know, its expensive af and cooperations like to get stuff cheap or just use what they already have instead of changing the ship for i dont know how many millions of dollars/euros xD

If people want to go on a vegan cruise, they should do so and have a lot of fun. Just stop preaching about the environment. I agree with Ryan, everything one tries to do for themselves or the environment is okay, just do not pretend that it is possible to live, without polluting the environment somehow. People in India are vegan as well as a part of their religion. Being vegan is from all times. If everyone were a vegan, then this would cause problems for us and our planet. We are part of the ecosystem as well, and the animals we eat, are also part of the ecosystem. It is all about finding a balance and improving our technology to find less polluting ways to life.
That totally contradicts itself you don`t eat meat to save CO2 on the other hand people travel from everywhere by plane just to take part in the first vegan cruise , that`s really incomprehensible. You can also go normal cruise ships eat vegetarian food, you don`t have to eat meat.
Everyone, that says, that veganism is so much better for the environment than a "normal" (partially meat based) diet, is either lying or misinformed.
They tend to say how bad the meat industry is for the environment and they are not entirely wrong - BUT - neither is the farming industry, that would need to replace it, if everyone would become vegan! Especially, since a lot of land, that is used for animals CANNOT be used for agriculture.
If it comes down to numbers, the two lifestyles aren't that much different in terms of environmental impact.
