Explanation for the "dinosaur flu" (In German: "Dinosaurier-Grippe"): A little added letter makes the difference because it's "Dinosaurier-Gerippe" (in english: "dinosaur skeleton") instead.
Well.. When I got the flu I always feel as if I am a skeleton, so.... not entirely wrong. :,D
also the house from 'reuse' was fun. its a fishing net thats left in the water for day(s) at a time, not a house...

Google is just so good that it knows the real cost. I mean every building project wich our politic brings to life costs way more then what was said in the begining :D I don't know why they pay it, i mean nobody would pay a house if the constuction company said to you it costs for example 500.000€ but during the build they say "oh now it costs 2 million because the planig was not right" and after a building time wich was tripple that of what was planed it's suddenly costs 5 million. But ok it is not the money of the politicions so they don't car 🤷♂
In Germany we don't have hurricanes, those are tropical storms.
We have Orkans which are outertropical low pressure systems that can create just as strong winds. Some of the biggest ones in the last decades, Wibke and Lothar in the 90s leveled large parts of german forests and caused immense destruction.
We also have tornados which also cause large damage once in a while, but they don't level entire towns like in the US, because we don't build our houses out of cardboard... 😉

I remember the storm series of of 1990 very well. I lived in a motor club's clubhouse that time. At night I couldn't sleep because things in the garden and the side porch's roof rattled so much. I finally went out to fix the side porch's roof by setting new screws . When I just wanted to climb onto a ladder with an eletric drill I saw part of the roof fly away, onto the railway tracks right behind the house 😅 One of my motorcycles was blown down from an elevated location. The next morning I found it standing upright ... but upside down. Another motorcycle was nearly missed by one half of an aspen that was blown down. A sudden gust tore a window from my hand when I wanted to close it. The next gust slammed it shut and destroyed it.
I also remember pretty infamous storms like Kyrill of 2006 and the lower saxony storm of 1972 where we had 12 Beaufort *inland*

Around noon, when the storm was srongest, I was in school. 4th or 5th lesson of the day: music with Mr. Sellheim. We all, including the teacher, looked out again and again, irritated by the storm and the sound of many roof shingles blown down. I don't remember anything from that lesson - the music was playing outside.
After that lesson school was over. I left the school, and nowadays I wonder that we were allowed to leave - there was a real danger of getting hit by the many many shingles from that big school roof.
The school is not far away from the central railway station, and I walked over there as the trams had stopped due to destroyed catenary cables. At the main station the storm had blown down parts from a nearby hotel which had fallen down onto a bus.
Driving home by bus I saw a lot of broken windows and clearly remember a torn-open flat roof on a 3-storey building - I could look into the living room from our windows.
Few storms, if any, were as fierce here in Northern Germany as that one.

Been there both with and without the elements. The idea was nice.
There is not really any houses nearby just 2 nice parks and it was not that loud.

This "bridge" does not connect anything. So it is not a bridge connecting one side of a river to another or so, it is just a piece of (sound-)art, where people can walk through a "tunnel of sounds".
But, without sounds, it is just a piece of steel standing in the landscape for big money....
That´s what so called in dialect "Soda-Brücke" (a bridge that stands just there without sense)

This special effect at the start of the video gets me every time :D
It is art and we like art…But no one checks if it‘s safe or not, because it‘s art. We had some roundabouts with a chunk of metal pipes in the middle that pointed outwards and no one saw the „unsafeness“. The ADAC had to tell them that it is unsafe to have that kind of obsticle right in way. If someone would have driven over these, the people would be impaled by all those pipes.
The translator missed a point. The costs of this non-sounding sound bridge were not 11 millions but "only" 1.1 million Euros. I say it with Simon & Garfunkel: this sound bridge serves is purpose right, it simply plays the "sounds of silence" 😂

The bridge was to be built for tourists. The bridge is supposed to give a different view of the site.
While there are no hurricanes in Germany, heavy storms are a regular occurence. The associated floods as well. And the odd tornado here or there. This is a very windy country. It's not nearly as cold in terms of insolation (how much the sun shines onto Germany) as people from other places would think but the wind certainly makes it feel colder than it is, sometimes.

This bridge was build to connect two parks. But there are not many people because in one park all you can do is walk around. In the other park you have a little shop, you can sit down for eating and drinking there, a playground, you can take a boat and drive on the lake
About the tree falling, that's not so much a figure of speech as it is a philosophical question
If I have never heard of the concept, you can say that and I'll immediately know what you mean, the language directly expresses what it's trying to say
For miscommunications, you need to look at figures of speech where the language you use is different from normal
For example, in dutch when it's raining a lot, we have an expression that directly translates to "it's raining lead pipes"
If I think about it for one second, I realize that lead pipes are not the thing that normally rains down, so I know if I say this expression someone could be confused
An English example would be "they kicked the bucket". Obviously when someone dies, they don't actually kick a bucket, so if you use that expression for someone that doesn't know it it'll be confusing
Also, I think the majority of us learned English from the internet and tv, so we probably know the more common expressions already

The city is acctualy obligated to track the soundlevels on their buildings not necessarily a complaint. As the bridge conects 2 Parks which should be a place for people to relax the treshhoulds for the sound intensity are fairly low
Funny part of the story is the road in the background where the bridge goes over. The noisy traffic doesn't disturb the peace of surroundings. Germany at it's best🤦♀🤦♀

As a german i am not sure whats more funny the clip or the english translation.(my highlight for this clip as he says one_point_one million and the translation takes it 11 million and that consistent , house (fish trap) to dinosaur flu(skeleton) and klamm(sound,tone) elements )

Also, the mayor talks of “Klangelemente” (sound elements) that were supposed to be hung at the bridge. Klammelemente is not a German word at all. A Klamm (noun) is either a gulch or something kann be klamm (adjective) and that means something is damp.

Ryan, we're world leading experts for bridges in the middle of nowhere. For almost all the years I went to school there have been a few bridges for an Autobahn which eventually got built ten years later. OK, there was just the tiny little difficulty that the Autobahn was supposed to cross the border between Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg several times. Whenever one side was ready to go the other wasn't, vice versa, and all other contorsions of the huge universe of German burocracy.
I think it's a bit unfair that noone ever considers writing an opera about such things (eg. an opera about the Berlin-Brandenburg airport or about Stuttgart21). Given that there are so many opera houses in Germany continously playing the same old stuff, or the latest absurd one provided by some academic genius I'm really wondering about that gap in our cultural repertoire.

What a pity as the story really seems to have comedic potential...
