      Forensic Detailing Channel brilliant video as always , I was just wondering as I'm in the process of learning all of this.. Could I just use fusso soft 99 after this step , or is there another step inbetween? cheers

      you could use fusso 99 after this step.. might want to do just a quick wipe down with IPA and water to get rid of the polishing oils on the surface..

    Hi, well I took your advice and got the Scholl S20, the chemical guys pad and also the Korean edgeless cloths. Did my 18 year old black discovery 2, today and I was amazed at this product but especially the Korean cloths they are so soft. Really amazed at the results and couldn't be happier. I spread the product on speed 1 and as I was new to the product I carried out the DA element at speed 3 on my DASpro6. Thanks for your advice and recommendations. Keep up the good work.

    Thank you. I foolishly took my shiny 2015 Hilux down some narrow green lanes and limped back with almost every panel covered in tiny scratches from brambles, bushes and branches. After watching this channel for some time I bought this exact DA Polisher (V2), followed your instructions and now the truck looks like it just rolled out the showroom. Cheapest quote to have it done by a pro was £450. Thanks again - fantastic content 🙉👊🏻

I'm loving my DAS6, safe and fun to use, no polish sling either with the Scholl S17 and S40 combo that came with it, and now my car looks something else. My co-workers think it's been freshly resprayed now. Great video, thanks for the advice. In case you're interested, I used Britemax Vantage for protection to my lovely car's paint.

    I've been saying for a long time now that you do NOT need heavy downward pressure on these machines. I don't know who ever came up with that, or how, but it's a myth - at least when it comes to foam pads. I use a little pressure with microfiber.
    Also, that green Hex Logic pad is my go to for cutting. Give me some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, or M100, and I can handle many situations in a nice amount of time. When I do a "one step" I use M86 on a blue Hex Logic, or M205 on the green.
    But thanks for saying that we don't need all that pressure. People could get around that vehicle so much faster if they just let that pad get spinning.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 7 lety +2

      cheers Dan.. honestly though mate you need to try scholl or koch compounds or polishes.. The meguiars range are dated and the lubrication is less effective.. (yes it still works and you can get great results). but the window in which the product is effective and what happens when you work beyond that window, is a problem which scholl and koch have solved... Give S20 black a whirl as a one step.

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 Před 7 lety +1

      Forensic Detailing Channel I will for sure do that! It's hard, because I've been using Meguiar's since 1996! I kind of got used to the line. I do have the Rupes and Menzerna ranges too, but usually go back to Megs.
      I'll source some bottles next time I place and order.

    • @ObsessedGarage

      @zaink7037 Před 5 lety +1

      Well done Charlie 👍. I felt the same and was worried that I hope I don't damage the paint but the paintwork came out like new. I'd recommend protecting the paint with ceramic coatings or even PPF as its a matter of time before you'd get scratches coming back. I'm sadly seeing holograms come back on the doors after a year since I machine polished my car 😭

    • @Charlie-gx9lm
      @Charlie-gx9lm Před 5 lety

      The holograms and buffer trails are what put me off doing it at first but you won’t get that with a da,
      I can’t really afford to wrap my whole car in ppf, and personally I’m happy to throw a glaze and wax over my car every month or so rather than ceramic coating it
      Swirls are inevitable on any car, black is just more noticeable 🤷‍♂️😂

    • @zaink7037
      @zaink7037 Před 5 lety +1

      @@Charlie-gx9lm the holograms I got due to washing the car after these many months after machine polishing it. I be so careful washing but sadly my car's paint is soft that's its easy to scratch when contact washing. Ceramic coating are harder I believe than a normal wax so thought might be better to put that on fresh paint.

    • @Charlie-gx9lm
      @Charlie-gx9lm Před 5 lety +1

      Ah right I see, it’s a vicious circle though. I just prefer the way a wax looks
      Nice thing about glazes is that you can use them as many times as you want and it won’t remove paint
      Waxes tend to fill paint anyway so could make your life easier,
      ceramic coatings can/will swirl up too 👎

    • @zaink7037
      @zaink7037 Před 5 lety +1

      @@Charlie-gx9lm never tried ceramic coating but yeah that's the good thing with waxes they fill up the scratches momentarily. My uncle has a GTR which has had PPF applied by the previous owner. It works well and has a good thickness however from looking at the bonnet I can see water spots. The spots go away when the bonnet is hot but comes back. Gave it a polish but its still there. I have a feeling the spots are underneath the film so improper application of the PPF

    @JontoDickens Před 7 lety +1

    I'd have liked some 'before' pics to see the efficacy of the polish over the short polishing time. I suspect the paintwork didn't really need an all in one product, a dedicated finishing polish would have left a finer finish (obviously!). All in one is a good solution for a quick job on older more worn looking paintwork. Good video again.....

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 7 lety

      the paintwork was actually perfect for a 1stage.. light damage.. but a cheap run around car that you really dont want to be spending days on... You will also struggle to tell the difference that a dedicated finishing polish leaves, to the finish that this one stage leaves... I suspect S20 is built from finishing polish grade abrasives bonded together to provide a good initial cut level... but the great thing is the way it finishes down. Why would you specially recomend an AIO for it? Those products contain resins mixed in with the abrasives.. When we finished out sets we were damage free so why cover the car in disolved resin?

  • @hemsworthchemistry
    @hemsworthchemistry Před 6 lety +1

    Great videos all round really informative. I have done one panel of my car using das6 pro and the finish is like glass. Before using it I cleaned, used korrosol and then tardis and then washed again.
    There are some extremely fine circular scratches in the paint I’m not sure if the polisher caused these Or they were already there.
    What would You recommend for a slightly deeper cut from the schol series?
    Also how often wouldYou do this polish this with the S20 to a daily driver car? Every few months?

    Your DA looks like the same tool sold by Griot's Garage in the US. The body is the same, power button is identical and speed selection in the same place. The only difference I see visually is the body is red vs. blue on your machine. Great video, some new tips learned. Thank you

    hi - really informative video - thanks. I will be using S20 on black BMW paint which is mostly in very good condition - just some light swirling. It does however have a small amount of hologramming (at least thats what I think it is) after BMW carried out a repair. Will the S20 remove that?
    Also - do I need to use a finishing polish (was thinking S40 or SRP) - i assume not as S20 is a single stage polish?
    Many thanks

    Hello, love the video. I went & purchased all what you suggested and was really looking forward to do this work on my car. But on closer inspection I don’t really I have many swirl marks or defects in my paint. I should’ve checked my car before I purchased these lol!!. Anyway, good I have a DA now. Would you still recommend I use the S20 to polish the car or would use another product for this?

    Hi, as always, great video! Just wondering what the vibration is like on the DAS Pro? I have a Torq 10fx and to be honest, I can hardly use it past speed setting 2 because of the vibration on it, actually hurts my hand, and the noise is like a jet taking off as well. It's probably too advanced for me.

    Many thanks for this informative vlog. You've convinced me that this is the next step in enjoying my hobby - that and the sight of light swirls on my paint in the summer sunshine! So with a 6 month old M135i and notorious german paint should I stick with your recommendation or go for a different product mix? I've never undertaken any machine work so want to go super safe. I've found a supplier who is selling a DAS6 Pro Plus S20 kit (comes with pads) for circa £230 which is tempting but before I press buy any thoughts from you would be appreciated, many thanks in anticipation, Kevin.

    @liammcgeehotmail Před 6 lety +1

    Correct me if I am wrong but to do it right depending on how bad the car is then you need a 3 stage buff. I know some brands only have a heavy and finishing compound . 3M does numerous products for different stages. Stage 1 is heavy scratches , fade removal for example . 2. Buff swirls removal . 3. Refining to a mirror finish . I’m not saying this is correct but that’s what I go by

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 6 lety +1

      you hit the nail on the head when you said depending on how bad the car is. but no you do not do 3 stage corrections buy default, you generally do whats appropriate. The thing is s20 will give you a finish that your eyes wont be able to spot the difference on to even the best finishing polish.
      so yer the channel has done 3 stage corrections. 2 stage.. but if your trying to shoot a very basic video for someone starting out you sort of have to not go too mad and just provide a simple method or a starting point.. check out some of the other machine polishing vids on the channel for more info

    Hey mate, another great video, I've got a question in regards to throw and how far up the panel to go when compounding/polishing. So I have a rupes DA with 21mm throw, I was wanting to know if I should go over the panel line by 21mm, or should I let the 21mm throw be at the edge of the panel. Hope that makes sense. Cheers from N.Z :)

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 8 lety +1

      cheers J . the das 6 pro is still the most popular starting out tool... the pro plus is slightly newer to the scene... and also a fair bit more expensive than the das6 pro... the das6 pro is still a very capable tool and if you are not doing a lot of polishing is probably the best solution.. You can do everything with the das 6 pro... Its very safe and less agressive and requires you to use it with some "attention" to get results... building up a good method of working with this tool will be a good foundation to moving on to other tools later on...

    Hi what method would you employ to remove TARDIS stains from black gloss painted pillars?, Many Thanks.....for all the great videos and pointing us in the right direction for best value when it comes to supplies & equipment.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 7 lety

      hey scott.. color is typically irrelevent with most modern cars with clearcoat. because all the defects are in fact in the clearcoat (unless this is single stage paint?)... The black color underneath will just help to show certain defects more clearly but others less clearly (for example shows scratches clearly because the cut or compressed clearcoat turns whiter.. But hides dark/grey spots of fallout more then say white paint would)... but essentially the color under the clearcoat doesnt really matter.
      Tardis is a mineral spirit I believe.. smell like its almost all mineral spirit.. So if its left staining I suspect thats actually going to be damage to the clearcoat and its going to need an abrasive to remove it or literally cut away the damage... Its hard to say without seeing it.. but perhaps try using a light polish by hand first to remove the staining...

    Some advice really my man ! Going to machine polish my black Subaru legacy in june, its got lots of swirl damage and also some heavy scratches in places and loads of road chips etc.
    Planned on a full decontamination. Clay, fall out etc. Then was going to use chip ex to fill the paint chips. Was then going to polish. Do you think the s20 black would be up to the job of removing the damage ? I realise some of the scratches will not come out as they are pretty deep. Ive seen some good results from this chipex paint. You kind of build up the paint on larger chips and scratches and then flatten out with the solution then polish out to level/blend.
    Any advice would be great !!

    Hi let me start off by saying i love your channel so so many good tips - my question for you is how do you find the Meguiars MT320 ? it is in my budget but cant make up my mind what will be better for a beginner a 8mm or a 15mm throw - The reason i am leaning towards the Meguiars is because of a good deal on a kit.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  Před 4 lety

      ive not used the meguiars polisher Jp sorry I think they are all more or less the same sort of thing chinese made. If your just looking to polish a car at home the 8ml will be fine.. but if your doing more polishing the extra cut of the 15 ml does come in handy. but the flip size is the 15ml cant support smaller plates
      cheers buddy.

      you could use this on nissan paint.. in fact green with s20 will cut nissan paint with ease.. you could look to then finish down with a blue hex logic and something like s40 afterwards if you really want to gloss it up.
