Adding this now after a month of having it. This machine is VERY good. It is ridiculously powerfull, speed 3-4 is more than adequate for most applications. Solid, nice to operate and hold. A huge thumbs up so far.
Happy to hear this! I managed to get the last one 🤣
What do you think of the Poorboys dual action polisher?
Thank you for such clear, step by step instructions. I really appreciate the advice about what pads and polish to use. Other detailing channels seem to skip this info or lack any tangible detail. Brilliant!👍
Thanks Jon! Just ordered a DA8 and some Koch Chemie bits from In2Detailing. Will be my first foray in to machine polishing after 15+ years of hand polishing, I've got some 18 year old Mini paint to work with. Your videos are always incredibly helpful!
One of the best advice I have seen for Polishing. Great tip on proper removal of the pads. 👍👍🇨🇦
Thanks for the information. My polisher comes in the mail today, I can’t wait to try it out on my vw.
Just bought one of these and had it delivered yesterday along with product etc. bloody hell, its hard work ! Now i know why your always breathing heavy in your videos ! Results are rewarding but a panel at a time ! ❤ thanks for the the videos and tuition.
After detailing for years and having used everything from the old Cyclo Polisher (still the best IMO for final finishing/jewelling etc) to my Milwaukee rotary and Flex 3401 which I love, I recently bought a Shinemate mini polisher. 12mm offset for added convenience etc. Ruddy love it! These cheap machines are where many top end machines were a few years ago...trickle down tech at its best.
Thanks Jon! Just purchased one of these from in2detailing. Thanks for the top tips and looking forward to my first polishing session ever! Cheers
Thanks for the reply looks like later. I'm going to invest in one of these tools many thanks for the review plus keep up the good work, your one of the best in to depth reviewers on CZcams
Good video mate! If anyone is nervous about polishing (like I was) my advice would be try and buy a cheap panel like a bonnet and practise polishing on it. That’s what I and gave me so much more confidence when coming to do my own car
Great video as always, Jon. I definitely recommend Sealey's CP18VOP cordless polisher. It came out last year and it's an absolute bargain at under £180 considering the build quality and the fact that it's cordless.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to make these videos. Although I live in the USA and find many of the product brands you use difficult to impossible to obtain, your videos have been very informative. I have developed more confidence in my own abilities as a result! Thanks Again! If I ever make it to the UK, I'll treat you to your favorite beverage at the local pub!
thanks Brian. where r u at in the USA :)
@@ForensicDetailing I live in Missoula, Montana.
These are fantastic machines. I have the previous DAS6 Pro, perfect for a beginner who isn't quite sure and is reluctant to shell out a whole lot of cash.
Iv learnt so much ❤honestly you remind me of my dad the way you explain things. Respect my friend for taking the time to make this video your a great person
Great video. Have watched quite a few getting ready for my first try - this has been the best by far
Well today I put all those hours of watching your beginners guide to machine polishing to good use armed with the In2Detailing DA8 some scholl purple pads and scholl s20 black I set to work on my daughters fiesta (well it wasn’t going to be my S6 😂) the bonnet looked like Someone had used a pan scrub in various places… took my time and did the whole bonnet twice as some of the scuffs were stubborn… probably wanted a cut and refine… but not on my first attempt
The result was impressive… well to me it was, still some deep marks and what appeared to be sanding marks but you really have to look for them
Thanks for all your great content it gave me the confidence to have a go 👍🏻
Now looking good with 2 coats of bilt hamber double speed wax
After 30 years of cleaning my cars, I have been scared of using a polisher. Now now, I tried it first on my son's car and got amazing results. Next, my pride and joy! many many thanks - great channel.
Just bought one of these machines with the scholl s20 black 1 stepper. Looking forward to seeing what it can do. Good work, subscribed
Thank you. Just getting into machine polishing. Been looking g for a decent beginner review.
Looking into my first visit to polishing my Range Rover and this is so helpful.
Thank you
Just ordered one now they are back in stock after this recommendation, was considering a DAS6 Pro but I was convinced this was a better purchase.
Thank you for this video. I am looking at getting into machine polishing and so this is very valuable to me.
I like to use a mixture of Gyeon Prep, 90% IPA and distilled water - about equal parts of each or maybe a bit more water and a bit less IPA and Prep - it works great and is obviously much cheaper than pure Prep spray. I do keep the pure Prep handy though in case I am going to apply a higher end coating. Thanks for all the great videos!
Bought one of these few weeks ago, I’ve been using lake county finish pad with this it’s fantastic I’m not one to spend 200-300 on a DA so this is good value
Taking the plunge this week , going to buy the da8 and the rupes Uno protect , will be my first ever attempt at polishing but this video and the Uno protect video has given me some confidence
Very informative video of a fantastic product. It ticks all the boxes for me, and I would happily buy one to replace my old but reliable and lightweight DAS 600w, which I still enjoy using. If Brian from Apex Detailing was reviewing this tool, it would be in tiny pieces after about 6 minutes.
I’ve just ordered this with the S20 compound and some buff & shine uro fiber pads. Looking forward to giving it a go before applying Gyeon One Evo after one of you latest videos 👍🏻
Was looking at beginner polishers the other day. This would definately be what I would like to start with.
Over year ago I have use orbital Sander Greenworks 24V and works 👌. Wireless and lightweight
Ordered 1 last night👍, cheers John😁
Love your passion man for polishing. thats amazing i feel the same. awesome review
Righto, just bought one off the back of this mate, hope you're getting a kick back :P Thanks for the videos, keep it up.
Just bought one great review. Have tried the Koch Chemi micro finish M3 O2 stunning results on a 21 year old MX5 after cutting with heavy cut. I surprised myself so much I had to lie down in a darkened room
H9 F6 M3 done Dave. If you stick to a few basic rules and deliver your set piece well polishing a car can be very straight forward.
great vid just ordered everything you recommended to start my journey into detailing
Right on justin. enjoy mate.
Hey Jon,
Great vid for beginners. If you don't have an under cover option how would you go about polishing?
Lovely Jubbly, another great video, with some humour.
Got the smaller one when you did the video. Used it last week and had an issue. Emailed in2detailing and they sorted it straight away. Great service from them and happily polishing away now. Some of these at similar prices on amazing don’t have long leads. Really important, Have the Smaller one then a 120mm dewalt cordless that John reviewed ad it’s easier being bigger and cordless for the bulk of the work. For me it’s a good cost effective combo for hobby use. .
what was the issue if you dont mind me asking andrew. wasnt brush related?
@@ForensicDetailing no it was the plate - the version I had was different to the black one you had. The white foams came off the plate. They Sent me a replacement that looks like the construction in your video. Black front part white the plate on the back. The one I had was metal sandwiched between the foam and just didn’t last. The new part must be the later version and can’t see that breaking any time soon. Things happen but it’s what the company does next that shows they care. Can never fault in2detaining service.
I use a Das 6 Pro. I run without the D handle. That rubber 'nose' is a big improvement!
Great video,. I might grab some for myself, just bit scary when you never have done it before, would you recommend doing a whole bonnet or just the part that has dust scratches? kind clueless here, so apologies in advance :)
I personally went for a DAS6 Pro @ £90. Very easy to use machine, even semi professionally.
I do love you very detailed how to guides 👍
Hey Jon great video just curious why you don't recommend the colour coded pads that match the products from Koch Chemie.
Ordering a DA8 this evening ! ❤
Bloody hell Jon how did you manage all that on the fly?! 🤩 Loving the videos, had a couple of years out so I have a few to catch up on!
Great video thanks! I have a 1 year old Volvo in solid black and it’s covered in swirls from where I have washed it. Absolutely gutted! I was thinking of using the m3 as I am extremely nervous I am going to cause damage! Anyway, great vid it was really helpful.
if its covered in swirls then a cutting compound like H9 or even F6 is prolly a better starting point.
@@ForensicDetailing hey thanks for the reply. It’s not really swirls as such but cobwebby lines where I used a rubbish drying towel. Anyway I will take your advice and give it a go. Just got the da8 this morning it looks a great bit of kit!
do you ever dampen the pad with distilled water ? as that's how I was shown ? thanks John
thanks so very much great tips and video, your well set up there.
Bought this the other day as my first DA and am really impressed, always wondered if you were going to review at some point Jon!
Snap, I got one a few months ago after seeing some of Jon's videos and I'm very happy with the results.
Hi there! You may also like to try the Vonroc 1050W DA. It looks like a solid choice at a very good price.
very nice results for a 1 stage with a entry level. gives me as diy weekend warror faith that i can achieve this result myself. I need a polish i think because my turtlewax s&s doesnt last 1 month =(
Love your videos John, thank you
Great video as ALWAYS!!! God job!
Any idea what the vibration rating is on it please?
Great video, keep up the hard work. I have recentley subscribed and have found this channel very useful.
A friend has just transformed his car with the Meguiars Mt320 using there compound, polish and wax and I was all set to buy their bundle. Now I'm tempted with this, especially considering the price differences. Would you say this will perform just as well?
in a work yes. the meguiars tool is a bit pricey. It does have superior ergonomics. And I recomend flex pads over anything (matched only by scholl concepts spider and ninja pad ranges) But check out the DA15 from in2detailing for 150 quid. if you want a long throw tool with full grip and trigger. review coming soon.
@@ForensicDetailing thankyou so much for taking the time to reply. I will hold out for now, looking forward to the review.
Hi Jon, you are costing me a fortune as every time I watch one of your videos I end up buying something. I have recently bought the DA8 and a 3inch purple pad but the 5 inch orange one has been out of stock for over 3 weeks. Which other pads would you recommend to use to wax on (can you use the DA8 with a wax) then buff off? Thanks
Fantastic content Jon 👍
I have the storm force draper da. It was only £60 and it's great.
I’d be interested in a video comparing some cheapish polishers from eBay and if they can do a decent job
Hi Jon, just a quick one on the backing plate. The holes are not for cooling the pads. They are designed for pneumatic DA Sanders that have a built in Central or self generated Vacuum for removal of dust / debris whilst sanding. In no way do they offer any cooling from the motor. All the air from the motor is expelled rearward and not forwards 👌
the air is suxed in from the rear Ive just checked this with bits of paper. the fan sits between the shroud and the motor below the latch. the vast majority of air flow though is expelled before the shroud which is unusual (in 4 vents). It feels like theres some airflow coming out between the plate and the shroud though, although inside the shroud it looks sealed off from the main unit. Indeed the shroud has vents inside it and I can feel airflow coming out off this. I suspect the airflow inside the shroud though is mainly generated from the counterweight spinning at high speed but this is expelling air out of the shroud (you can feel it) and if theres holes in the plates then the air will flow through them. I think its for cooling, I can check with the manufacturer if you like.
What polish would you now use after the paint correction stage?
Polishing fills me with dread ... this really helped me understand in layman’s terms better. Any plans to go into a video about fixing stone chips / if it’s worth it. Thanks John great content.
hope soon m8
The flex polishers are out of my price range , can you recommend a similar one for a novice that’s wired and will do same job as flex
Practical and helpful. Thanks
Love your videos, I have an old bmw e46 330, what pads and compounds would you recommend please?
I’m going to buy the Da8, and what ever else you recommend.
polishing czcams.com/video/MI_m2rO-OpM/video.html
Jon brilliant video as always... How do the Flex pads compare to the 3M green pad. Have you ever tried it? I find it’s quality is very high. The other 2 in the package, the Yellow and Blue aren’t as good but the 3M green is top.
Also maybe it would be a good idea to get a few panels of different car manufacturers, one from a Japanese, French, Italian and German cars and try the different compounds and polishes on them and see which one works the best.
For German cars I guess you have tried a lot on your BMWs which I also own but for other people which own other cars it would be good advice I think.
Best wishes
George
the Flex pads last longer. in fact a lot longer than 3m waffles. they are my favorite pads. the purple is a beuty.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks Jon, the green 3m isn’t a waffle, the other two in the combo, blue and yellow are and indeed pretty rubbish. Green is very good for hard paints.
Absolute legend you are mate
Nice review thanks, is there any chance doing a comparison between the das 6 pro plus the da8, the machine really looks good for its power.
How's the vibration as the pad was. a little jumpy at the start but later smoothed out.
its pretty smooth this but its got more power and higher speeds. I was at 4.5 and it felt like too much grunt. at about 3.5 it felt more like how I used to polish with the DAS6 pro.
In2detailing are pretty good when it comes to cheap machines
Do you know anything about Vevor products. They have a cordless polisher at a decent price that looks good.
Great video, thanks. How do you clean your pads?
czcams.com/video/OAs6o_kF2YA/video.html
I tend to flush them out with a garden hose, it has enough pressure to blast out a lot of the rubbish. you can do it in the sink with warm water.. use surfex HD its cheaper and better than washing up soap. tooth brush as well. sandwich the cleaned wet pad in a clean towel and push down on it with the towel wrapped around to insta dry it.
It’s great you can get decent DA’s for little money these days. I got my first 15 years ago or so and had to import a Porter Cable from the U.S then get a voltage transformer from Screwfix. Quite a faff!
Same here - My 7424 is still goimng strong :)
OMG Jon, you are an incredible communicator and teacher, actually, I think it would be more appropriate to call you "The Professor" because professors have a deep knowledge of their subject matter. This allows them to express with confidence that the information they are passing on is due to their background of trial and error that progressed and surpassed into the world of "Textbook" knowledge. And realistically there are a lot of Pro Detailers on CZcams that have the university level of knowledge and experience that allows them to be in the top rank of those who can apply their knowledge in doing awesome detail work, allowing all of us to watch it, but they are not as effective in communicating verbally what is happening in the total context of what we are watching on the channel. In the university or academic world, it is those with Graduate degrees who become Professors with the ability to communicate the full context of what they know to a level that is able to teach all those with undergraduate degrees and below. That is your audience Jon, and we thank you, Professor, for communicating with all of us.
:) kind words kyle thank you very much mate. you rock too.
Excellent video. I have a Porter Cable 7424 that I have since 2007. Should I consider changing it for something like this. It is for personal use only. Thanks again and subscribed
Yes m8 I personally would they are not expensive and it will cut better
Sold the Porter Cable and took delivery of this yesterday. Cheers Jon
Hi! What is the name of the polisher?
This is a really informative video, thanks. One question though; once you’ve polished and buffed the whole car, would you wipe it with IPA or a panel wipe before applying wax or ceramic, or is buffing sufficient? Thanks
degrease wipe down is needed for bonding sealaing and ceramics. But most paste waxes it wont make much different, they dont really chemically bond.
@@ForensicDetailing thanks for the reply. Much appreciated!
Hi, John with one you think is better as I think about das6 pro the blue one or this one, for me that in2detailing have 900w ad well but better shape. Thanks
covered in video mate
Jon quick question. Have a brand new fiesta which has very very light swirls. Would I be best soft pad with a finishing polish
Yo Dave
H9 F6 M3 = abrasives combos
Purple = Non agressive Cut pad
Orange = Softer polishing pad
these are your tools and you start at suitable place.
So fiesta will be lets say medium paint. very light swirls. I would start orange pads with F6. If you need to step up then purple pads F6. If thats still not cutting it then H9 and purples and finish out with M3 ornage.
Great review, loving the channel! I was planning on getting a DAS 6 Pro Plus as my 1st machine but after watching this review I'm not too sure now. Would you recommend this over the DAS 6 Pro Plus? Also this machine is significantly cheaper...bonus points.
yes. your results will be down to you and the DAS6 pro can be used to equal effect. but this machine has more grunt, is cheaper and has an intergrated bail. I get comission if you buy it from my links but in2detailing used to sell the DAS6 pro before the DA8 was around. so either will do mate.
@@ForensicDetailing Thanks for the swift reply mate...We are both talking about the newer updated PLUS DAS6 machine here? It will primarily be used on older Audi, VW paint if that helps? Still leaning towards the DA8, it has that smaller backing plate and its a fraction of the price of the Plus. I didn't know about your commission but I'll be sure to order from your link when I do. Again, your doing a fantastic job on the channel mate, makes me want to go and clean my car every video I watch.
@@TynesideMadman yes mate the DA8 is the one to go for, it has 5 inch and 75 inch plate and a little spanner to switch plates.. its a great little polisher it should last you years and years and year.
@@ForensicDetailing DA8 it is then! Just need to get my boost issue sorted and then I'll be primed and ready for action haha. Thanks for the advice mate...saved me a few quid as well!
Hi there, I’ve never machine polished before. Looking to get one to correct my vw polo 20 plate which is swirled and hologrammed in a deep black Pearl. What compound and pads would be worth using? Thanks!
Koch H9 lake country yellow or ask when you buy the koch, try and find someone near you to show you the basics or better still get an old scrap panel to practice.
I'm planning on polishing my Honda Civic 2010 which has very soft paint. It has very light swirls, would you advise yellow pad with M3. Or F6 first then M3? Many thanks.
Ok for max speed I would use F6 and Orange pad. single set polish. I know this combo works great on soft paint. But just buy a purple pad at the same time so you have a means to step up.
long term you should have H9 F6 M3 available to you. And purple and orange available to you. when you have this you can do virtually everything.
Whats your thoughts on the meguiars mt320? Bought this in a bundle with padd, wax, polish and compound and would like to know your thoughts on the meguiars mashine and polishes
not used it david sorry.
John . after watching a lot of your excellent videos .. I bit the bullet and got myself a DA8, some pads and Koch Chem (Cut/Polish). You also got me into the Bilt Hamber stuff, Seal and shine .. and the Fusso Coat ! Plan is to correct the paint and protect with Fusso coat soft 99.
This is going to be my first ever attempt at polishing using DA so I'm planning on how and when to correct the paintwork on the car. I don't have a garage (it's a communal garage) so will be working out doors is there any other advice that would be worth taking on board before kick off ?
nice slow polishing sets mate. and if you are doing cut and finish dont scrimp on the finishing set. a really good slow final pass does make a difference.
@@ForensicDetailing I've had agood look at the car and its got 10 years of swirls and a tonne of scratches/chips. I''ve been watching some of the beginners videos just to get my head around it. Should I retouch the paint chips before or after cut/polish ? Cheers John !
Hi John
Firstly, thank you for all the content you put out. I’ve learnt so much from you and am still learning. I watch your videos every day as I want to learn as much as possible. So much so that I have purchased your course.
Just a quick question, you mentioned a name “ Imran “, I have heard other detailers mention the same name when talking about snow foam cannons. Does he have a detailing website? If so, what’s it called?
Thanks in advance

How do I get this in the US
I have a Honda ep3 type R in nighthawk black will these pads you recommend be sufficient ? They seem out of stock Iv added uro-tec buff shine yellow medium and scholl purple spider medium ?
Use what you have
Yet again, such a great video Dave, I will be asking Santa for a polisher this year. A couple of questions, I do have a Dewalt battery and charger, would you recommend a cordless one of these ahead of the DA8, however price will be maybe £70 more. And lastly, on a 30 year old german black car, which has had a lot of paint, and many swirls! will a two or three stage polish be necessary.
Keep up the great work, thumbs up
so if you go cordless you pay more, and you have to round robin batteries. But the Dewalt cordless is very capable. I dont want to say too much but my review of the DW cordless tools is coming soon and it looks at these offerings in detail so hold fire I would until you have watched this.
hard german paint. Ok first up compound, and finishing, and ultra refining, is 3 stage. Dont confuse stages with sets. so I could do 3 sets of compounds, and 2 sets of finishing, 1 jets of ultra fine jewling or refining. thats a 3 stage polish.
So you do the extra stage when you really want to max out gloss, maybe on a high end valuable car or maybe just because you are crazy or its a show car etc.. the etc ultra fine refinement is a lot of extra time for time gains. So Cut your hard black german paint untill you are happy with the swirl level and then refine it untill you are happy with the pure sharp reflection marring free finish... aim to minimise compounding sets if you can.
@@ForensicDetailing Thank you Dave for your quick and helpful reply. I will hold fire on the machine, as did see the Dewalt hanging up on your tool rack on the video. I only have 2x2amp batteries, so will have to see how long these last for, and not worry about the final stage, as its a regularly used older version of that lovely ruby red one you cleaned a couple of months ago !
wonderpreviously mentioned, these would be more than enough for the DIY er
Not tried this polisher but ive got the clean your car das-6 polisher which is £90. How does this compare to the das-6 John?
das-6 is lower 600w polisher way less power. das6 pro though is 900w polisher plenty of power great machine. Its tiny little improvements with this machine but if you have a DAS6 pro its very close to pointless to buy this machine they are too close.
Hi Jon, I'm building up the courage to polish my car and this machine looks perfect.
Can you answer a question please?
When it comes to reapplying a wax,in 3/4 months time, can I just apply wax after a wash and dry or should I use chemical de contamination products then panel wipe, then wax.
I haven't mentioned a clay bar as I'm under the impression you should only clay if you are going to machine polish afterwards.
Thanks.
hey craig. you can just wash and dry and apply wax. or you can whizz over the car with like a AIO to remove and old residue of wax and give the surface a gentle buff up and prepare it for the wax or just let the wax in the AIO do the work. you dont want to be doing paint correction all the time.. but I love whizzing over the car with a light AIO glaze and a wax.
@@ForensicDetailing ok that's very helpful.thanks again.
I see that you got dewalt cordless polisher. Is it the da or the rotary on the wall? Could you do a review on dewalt cordless da 15mm or tell me how you like it?
coming soon mate
how often do you change the pad or would you use the same pad for the whole car? Then once you've done the whole car with the polish do you have to go over it all again with the finish?
after about 10 sets as a rough guide but depends mate. heavy cutting or fine polishing. its when it warms up and mega gunked.. 10 sets just a rough guide. you can also do a full flush clean on it with a hose pipe and press it. see "how many pads should you use to polish a car" video. on unplugge.d
hi jon, great video, very informative, i'm about to buy my first duel action polisher, i'm torn between the das-6 pro and this da8, what would you recommend to me, it's being used for a single stage paint show car if this makes any odds
Da8
Many thanks for the reply Jon
Hi mate I bought this in2detailing da8 polisher today and the g360 cut and g360 finish all through your recommendations. Thanks by the way . And I'm just wondering if you can help me the g360 recommendations range from 900 to 2000 rpm and the minimum this polisher goes to is 2500 rpm so I'm just wondering if you could have some input on that thanks regards harry
900 -2000 rpm is rotary reference. your DA is really 2500 opm. just cut at around speed 4 mate.
Are the pads reusable or do you have to throw them away after a use or two ? Thanks , always loved keeping my cars clean but just dipping my toe into detailing , thanks .
hey there Shaun. you have to clean them properly at the end of each day, dont throw them untill the surface starts crumbling up and disintergrating. take tooth brush, squirt come APC on the face work with brush, then blast the surface with a garden hose and it will flush all the polish out.. when clean sandwich in a thich clean drying towel and press to suck up all the water so they feel 99% dry.. put in airing cupboard to full dry.
Also you can you should check out my Detailing Fundamentals training course with discount code applied. This can help you get up and running with detailing.

Do you think any of these small hand held battery powered buffers are any good?
ive not really tried them mate.
I have a single faze paint (red) really bad sun damage, what colour pad would you recommend. Please just bought the polisher 👍🏼
Flex purple pads mate they will work well have a look at the mercedes single stage resto we did on the channel.
Hi, just wanted to know how good is the Halfords D.A polisher.
its like the argos one but twice the price? 600w cheap polisher. for 15 quid extra this machine is on a different level.
Hello
Could you please tell me what you think about the Sealey CP18VOP polisher please?
As I’m thinking of buying one
As I’m told that my makita battery’s will fit
Ps
I watch a lot of your video’s
Fantastic information thanks
ive not used mate sorry.
How hardwearing are these?
Looking at getting a new DA polisher after I broke my vonhaus one after 2 years of light use (maybe 5-6 full cars in that time, 3 different polish stages on each) don’t want to spend £100 and break it so quickly again
unknown mate. Its very hard to test this. it feels like it can take a hammering.. if you use it 24x5 like most DA's the bearing is the thing that takes the punishment. you only get a year warrenty as opposed to 3 years for say flex or DW.
