- this is my ap art 2D portfolio review!!! i got a 5 which is the best score (the scale is from 1-5)!! i was so excited when i found out and i had a lot of fun making this video. ap art was a challenge but i would do it over again in a heartbeat (which i am lol).
my sustained investigation or concentration or theme was "how can i portray my personal experiences with the pandemic?"

kinda late to the party but just wanted to say that it's been really hard to find anything by the people who were teenagers during the pandemic who understand the unique isolation and repetitiveness of being in high school during the pandemic. when you said that the year we went back to school after the initial quarantine was the hardest you had, i kinda got teary??? because i hadn't heard someone else talk about how going back to school at that time was just like. awful and so, so quiet. it was rly moving to see those moments immortalized in your art because sometimes i wonder if i just imagined it all because it was such a weird liminal time i guess. felt very validating and comforting to know i wasn't alone. anyways you're so talented!!! i love your videos they're so fun ty for sharing ur art

i got a 4 on my portfolio and was so scared abt my score being canceled bc i got my selected pieces almost immediately back😭 then i realized one of my pieces had my signature which scared me even more😭 anyways congrats on your 5! it was well deserved, the thought process and technique in each piece is absolutely amazing :3

The shininess on the new normal paintings is cuz some pigments are lab created, and other pigments are not. The ones that come from rougher materials (probably ivory black in that picture) are less shiny because the particles are more bumpy. Ivory black is literally burnt up bone. - Your art is INCREDIBLE by the way

for the SI is it required or recommended to have some sort of element of art attached to the question? like “how can i showcase ____ through (color, symbolism, line, etc)?”
Dude I had perosmia as well !!! The worst smell I could think of is the smell of a brand new plastic water pool or like rubber bands. That smell is one of the worst things ever, I can't even describe it because it was that bad 😭😂 It's been 2 years and I feel like I still experience it wit certain foods. Shredded chicken is okayish now but oof back in 2020 at the start I couldn't enjoy food because everything tasted horrible and kept smelling a nonexistent smell

Never had much time for realism. Always looked at it as the visual equivalent of the virtuoso musician who put in the hours practicing to play super fast without ever learning to write interesting parts to play (Steve Vai types). All flash, no flesh. Always cool to see someone with great technical skill, who's also very concious of more abstract shit that goes into making something. Not that there's anything wrong with someone who just wants to be technically impressive, or with anyone who likes what they produce. It's just not for me.
In other words, very cool. Nice work.
Also to clarfify, I am well able to appreciate someone with great technical ability. I just draw a very clear distinction between skill and creativity. The latter of which I value higher.
