- i painted a landscape every day to see if i could improve in only 5 days... this was a super fun and rewarding challenge even though i definitely struggled at the beginning! i would definitely recommend doing something similar or painting every day for a little bit if you're interested in improving any aspect of your artwork. hope u guys enjoy the video! :)

Here's a tip from a landscape painter… things in the background are further away, so they should appear more muted and less saturated in color because you have to look through so much more air and atmosphere to see what is in the distance. When I paint things in the distance, I gray down the color a little bit. As a paint things closer to the viewer, I add more saturated color and more detail. Hope that helps! We're not too proud to admit we really got caught up in this great video! This reminds us all to be honest with ourselves about where we are and where we want to be with our work, but be kind and patient too. If you never feel like you need to improve some aspect of your art, then you probably aren't pushing the limits of your ability, and doing that is how you're going to reach your goals!

I loved days 4 and 5. With 4 it was very realistic and I'm a sucker for realism. But on day 5, I loved the saturation and the vibrant colors.
I tend to lack motivation when it comes to improving my own art, so it's nice to watch someone be so excited about the whole process and learning new things. It makes me just a llittle more motivated too.

the first two paitings were already impressive to me. But when you compared 4th with 1st it felt like comparing a high resolution picture with a low resolution picture! So amazing how much you could improve yourself.

You are a true talent and will someday be very successful. Most landscape artists under paint with a burnt sienna, red, or orange, to compliment the greens. Also, they mix their own greens from blues and yellows.

Atmospheric perspective, which basically means more blue in the distance. I liked one.
In my opinion, the last painting you did looks just like how the naked eye would see the landscape, whereas, the darker one you prefer, is more like if a camera with a slight filter took the picture. Both are realistic and AMAZING. They literally look like photographs 😭 I really need to do more landscape stuff too😪😪
You are a much better painter and younger than me, but I can share that the background gets less saturated lighter, and more blue the further back you go. You were right that the 5th’s background was too saturated. 4th was my fave. This was such an excellent experiment! And for some really wise landscape advice, some of Ian Roberts Mastering Composition channel might appeal to you. 😊
This was seriously one of the most fascinating videos i have ever seen. For one, i just thought that someone who can do portraits could automatically paint anything because to me they're the hardest thing to draw or paint. And for two, watching you learn and realize things was so cool. And to see that on day one you went as far as you could- like your brain literally didn't know where else to go with it all the way to day 4 when you decided to get some input and you just kept going and going. It was just so cool! Also, day 4 was my favorite but i absolutely loved em all because somewhere in some fancy boutique or in a museum, there's a painting that looks like all the days that is by someone famous and/or costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. Wow! Bravo!! Super duper uper video! I love this. Oooh oooh oh oh!! Do another one- make it a series and each week do either a different kind of painting or just do a different landscape each week. Any way you'd do it, it'd be super interesting. Wow. Thanks for this. I wanna do ot now....only i wanna learn to do flowers and people because i suuuuuck at that stuff and i wonder now if I'd be capable of improving even a little bit. Anyway, thanks again! Andrew Tischler really helped me understand the whole aerial perspective concept, that the colors are cool and muted towards the background and warm and saturated towards the foreground.
You kind of achieved this in Day 4 because you used a dark background on the trees, which ended up drabbing the colors. Try the same thing but with grays in the background colors next time so that the WARM blacks and vibrant highlights of the foreground will pop. 😊
I always have problems with landscapes, but ive been trying to get better at them.
I would say day 4 is better in terms of technicality but I enjoy day 5 more because I love colors and it feels like it has more whimsy 💚

day four definitely had more depth! when it comes to the background of landscapes, i feel like it's really important to have darker colors for that depth effect since it is, of course, in the background. this was really cool to see the improvement!

Your video made me to remember how I tryed to improve my drawing skills when I was ten. For one lesson of mathematics, I managed to paint five or six pages of a notebook with human figures

I recommend studying ghibli landscape painters like Oga Kazuo and Yoichi Nishikawa, Their art is so digestible if you take some time observing it and it feels so calming :)) Goodluck with the landscape journey.( btw ur already killing it tho)
I liked 3 best I think! 4th is good too. Not only you should've made the trees lighter for the 5th, but also less saturated to get that atmospheric distance going on. It is indeed a biiiit too saturated. Still hood though. In fact even the first painting is very good too 🎉

All are great but I prefer Day 4. The background trees have better contrast and make good use of dark and light.
