now that you beat Blood Meridian time for the next boss: "I have no mouth, and I must scream"

Read lolita
I can not remember if it was you or another reviewer that recommended Sweetness and Lightning. If it was you_ big thanks_, if it wasn't you I recommend, few manga make me laugh, cry, and cook.
themightyloli my ass
The video game aesthetic and editing this video is so sick
😘
Kisses? I want someee ❤

I see why you were gone for 5 months
Imo its a bit too unfocused. Like alot of things dont really click like the UI alot of times. really like the idea tho, it just needs cleaning up a bit more imo
Blood Meridian is the perfect example of how to write disturbing scenes correctly, Happy Sugar Life is an example how not to do that.
"correctly" is a rather cold & surgical way to put it. More so in a way that is meaningful and poetic and drives home a point about our own realities. It's a very rare literary event when violence is portrayed in such a complex and unique way.
@@ambatuBUHSURK I guess I meant it was executed better in Blood Meridian. Happy Sugar Life felt like murder porn and just terrible shock value.
While the story of Happy Sugar Life was supposed to be a hey look, look again type narrative about some beautiful woman being secretly crazy, yeah no.
Blood Meridian was look you're friend is dying but oh no look the serial killer scalper is still chasing you and he's trying to make you apart of his cult.
@@rogue8507 blood meridian? are you talking about the american western novel?
wtf is this werid comparison? are you gonna suddenly compare reservoir dogs to my hero academia out of the blue?
@@NeostormXLMAX
Did you not watch the video? Like genuinely the two share violence in different ways but still they're linked and on top of that if you would read the comments above you would realize why the two are being compared.
Happy to be included with so many great creators! And to spread the gospel of my girl Alita
got I love battle angel alita, thank you for recommending it (good memories reading it on a road trip, glad MaskedMan enjoyed it)
I love the anime for Alita. I should read the manga
I'm glad you liked the recommendation! The Girl From The Other Side is truly a masterpiece and should be read by more people in my opinion. ✌️
Love your channel🔥
I tried to put him on it a while ago but he ignored my request and put me in an Chinese editing sweatshop
Always nice to see more people getting put onto Nagabe's work. I remember following him on Tumblr over a decade ago and being absolutely enchanted by the sketches he'd post of two characters, a little girl and her monstrous-looking yet gentle guardian, and it's been wild to see those sketches turn into The Girl from the Other Side.
Yourtasteftw
The Gianni bit was God-tier. That homie always kills it with the VA, and the video game aesthetic was a real treat to watch. Great vid as always Masked
Blood Meridian is one of the greatest books ever written its in my top 3 of all time easily I've read it once and listened to the audiobook twice it's brutal but Mccarthy has such a poetic way of describing even the most violent of scenes so I actually loved reading/listening to it even though the violence in it is hard to fathom at times I'm glad you enjoyed and found value in the book dude.
I’m glad you’ve kept your channel going, even through the burnout. You’re on of the best manga-content creators out there
You snapped with the editing in this vid Masked aint had to go this damn hard with a recommendation vid
If you are a fan of "The Fist of the North star", I would recommend "Sanctuary" done by the same author. Easily one of the best yakuza/crime-drama themed mangas ever written
Edit: Scans are inverted so read from left to right comic book style
+1 Buronson is such a goated writer, I hope masked can check out his other works as well
The couple one shots he did with Kentaro Miura were amazing as well
HEAT is also a great one and it's written by Buronson as well.
I read the synopsis, and it looks similar to akumetsu (i am a big fan of this type of story). So iam in thanks for the recommendations 🕊
No way Charlie recommended his own comic
WOAH this new editing style is so cool!! also SOBBING to the girl from the other side and making you think about your humanity makes me so glad to see at up at #2, you should def check out the animated film for it too
The use of Fata Morgana music fits really well, I even got teary eyed when I heard that song playing for the girl on the other side.
The editing and sound effects in this video were insane, you definitely set the bar for manga recommendation videos.
I know it probably won't be high on the list, but I recommend Distant Sky. I started reading it on webtoons, and the story and art kept me reading till my phone battery died.
It's horribly tragic but I love it.
You finally covered Space Brothers 😭
Check out Gundam: The Origin. Its the best way to start the franchise if you prefer manga
Edit: I find it interesting that you found the beginning slow. The Astronaut exam, and Hibito Mission arcs were some of my favourite parts of the story. And the anime versions of them always kept me on the edge of my seat
Bro the editing and early 90s polygon videogame asthetic is fucking siick.
Hlw do you do that?! I can barely edit a simlle meme togegher this crazy!
GACHIAKUTA! I absolutely adore the gritty, punk-y world and creative power system of this manga. Also personally think it has great potential to be one of the next big Shonen fight mangas
He read it and made a whole video on it calling it the next big thing.
I love this format that you have looking like a wii game or a ds game. It's very comforting to me
This video is great. All the transitions are so clean and well done
This was an extremely well-made video and I fuck with old school JRPG aesthetic in the editing and what not, great job 💯.
If regular ass books are on the table, I would like to recommend The Immortal Hulk as a read. Its an excellent award winning run on Hulk, leaning heavily into horror (specifically body horror) tropes, and it might completely change how you perceive the character, ESPECIALLY if your only exposure to him is movie adaptations.
What a video! I hope this catapults your growth, it was very creative.
I remember watching Mask’s video about how he started to learn more about art and that made him want to make his videos more artistic. I love seeing how he has gotten so much better and all the videos show how much love and effort has been put into them.
incredible video masked, 10/10 has a flavor unlike any other youtuber or youtube video ive seen before it. Bravo
I literally bought “Blood Meridian” and began reading it months ago but could never finish it, but after seeing your ranking, I think it’s my time to pick it back up!
Since Blood Meridian was recommended to you. If you take the chance to read books again, I figure The Brothers Karamazov, The Glassbead Game, Book of The New Sun, and Viriconium would be up your alley
what are those about?
Gannibal is getting a season 2 on Hulu, and the way things are going it *should* cover the rest of the story. Still sucks how much is untranslated, but kino all the same.
This is the coolest visuals and edits i have ever freaking seen! What an amazing video! You for sure deserve more subscribers and views
omg i love the retro gaming editing you did so cool love your videos
Gannibal was fully translated and published in Italy, I'm glad to be italian for once 😂
If we are going by recommendations that "totally aren't out of an Iceberg boy", may I recommend a small horror story known as Borrasca?
Also as always, great video, haven't realized that I wasn't subbed to your channel since most of the time the automatic playlist would recommend you and I would enjoy your content while doing daily stuff.
The editing is crazy, good work!
My list is already packed so why not add more to the backlog lol. Anyway great video. Also as for a potential recommendation, Kinnikuman. A shonen classic!
I would love to see you dive into western comics, The Sandman is one of the greatest stories i’ve ever read
The blue ui with ur 3D avatar in the video game editing style gave me huge og persona 3 vibes, I’ve never played it but I’ve seen stuff from it and can’t wait for p3reload
Oh God I can’t believe you actually read Blood Meridian. Dude God bless your soul, that book sucks the life out of you.
Oh and if you ever make a part 3 I have 3 recommendations.
I would recommend the manga Gate. It’s an isekai story but it’s one of the better ones.
Fate Grand order (the manga)
And Goblin Slayer Year One.
Great vid! Love to see more people appreciating Psyren, especially since little else the author has made has really taken off.
If you're up for another novel recommendation - The Dispossessed by Ursula K Le Guin: Twin planets, one like our own filled with nations at war, constantly striving for riches and extravagance, the other is a recently terraformed offshoot that holds a commune of Anarcho-Syndicalists. The story follows a scientist from the B planet trying to get his new space-time theories recognised by visiting the planet A. The chapters alternate between his time on planet A, meeting all the people there and the culture shock of it all and chapters about life growing up in a commune and what leads to him needing to visit planet A against the principles of where he grew up.
love the direction and artstyle!!! so good
Love it the edit was so great I couldn’t look away. The amount of details man. i’m speechless .
Man I want this man to read some novels like ORV, The Lord of Mysteries, Revered Insanity, Love these ones they are amazing and even peak like Invisible Dragon. Love the video though man keep up the good work.
Dude, those novels are pretty long tho.
But yeah, actual masterpieces.
Ahh, invisible dragon. The greatest of 7 forbidden novels.
After reading it, my taste in books changed, I understood what I have been reading before was mass produced trash. This is what a novel is like, This is how you gain enlightenment.
Truly a masterpiece.
@@gloryloriaI don’t see any dragon though, 0/10
This was a great video--glad I ran into your channel! Also--Space Brothers and Planetes are the best!
This is a mashup of CCs and books I never thought I'd see all in one video
id recommend the fragrant flower blooms with dignity, great romance manga
as a person that has good taste in video games the ultrakill part was so good
also im preety sure u recorded/edited it after playing ultrakill cuse of all the ultrakill music
I recommend innocent and innocent rogue, for me is one of the Best mangas of all time, How it portraits cruelty, pain and slowly losing your innocense by being a executioner in the french revolution plus the most amazing artstyle Ive ever seen has been one of my Best reads i had
God damn! That is a very interesting and unique visual and editing style
I became very confused at the beginning due to this retro game style, nevertheless, pretty sick!
If you liked Yamada and Kase-san, I highly recommend Bloom Into You.
The manga is more realistic, especially at portraying themes of self-hatred, loss, wearing masks, and what it means to love someone.
There's also some asexual/aromantic representation, which is something that's so rare to find in media at all.
Editing is amazing man
I loved the first few chapters I read of Gannibal, but it only had 13 chapters when I read it so I put it to the side.
I do hope it gets fully translated at some point.
The KH menu stuff looks sick. I played that game to death and I’m glad to see recognition for it.
At first I thought wendigoon recommended him blood meridian
Just came across your channel and videos. Absolutely love this series, a lot of fun to watch. Good work! Look forward to more.
As far as manga reccs - I would recommend one of my original favourites Blade of the Immortal or I am A Hero, curious to see how it would hold up to someone new to it
Damn dude, thank you so much for this. I live to experience these great stories, can't wait to read some of these. Will start with The Girl from the other side
Pleasant surprise to see both Alita and Psyren. Btw the editing and aesthetic is 🔥
Yooooo, this editing style is fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Would love to see you read The Night Circus, novel by Erin Morgenstern. It's a bit slow but quite short.
Great job on the editing, by the way!
I once again recommend Blue Box. A really wholesome romance/sports shonen about a guy and a girl. He plays Badminton, she plays Basketball. I lovingly refer to it as "Romcom Haikyuu" as it touches on similar themes but from the comparative perspective of romance and falling in love with someone in addition to success in sports. The art conveys a rich sense of emotion in the characters and the two Protags are endearing in all the best ways. It's ongoing at 134 chapters and it's still riding high. It also just got announced for an anime at Jump Festa to be produced by TMS of Undead Unluck, Orange, and Lupin the 3rd fame.
The new style made me a new sub. W creativity
WHAT THE HELL IS DOING BLOOD MERIDIAN DOING HERE WHAAATTT???
Whoa it's been a while since I tuned back in to your videos (been subbed for a while) this video is really interesting I love the video game aesthetic!
I love the presentation and aesthetics if the viseo it looks absolutely great
editing style was cohesive af and very entertaining, nice
Great editing the thing at bottom left helped out a good amount 😂
Gannibal is getting an official English release this year by Ablaze. They had a kickstarter recently for hardcovers (paperback will be sold regularly).
I’m a bit scared for the translation though since Ablaze hired a company that does AI translation for Centaurs, and it ended up horrible. Hopefully they don’t for this release.
This was a fantastic video with a lot of care and effort put into it👏
If you're going to make another one of these recommendations style manga review videos, I recommend Worst Spinoff Mr Zetton.
I SUPER heavily recommend Gundam: The Origin, a standalone remake of the original gundam heavily inspired by historical mangas or European war comics, its god tier
Underrated ass video it’s great am. Hope u get hella buzz for it
I'm so glad to hear Sunny being talked about.. it's so underrated
I’d recommend reading a comic book called 100 Bullets, easily my fav comic oat it gets a bit dark at times but is genuinely amazing
I haven't read godslap but just the idea of a rocket powered slap is incredible
Blue Box! It was really a good read...Romance and Sports really worked..It's one of my fav now.
"so I was looking at my list, don't worry it's not island related" 💀💀💀💀
You should check Ad Astra - Scipio and Hannibal, especially if you like Kingdom. I will actually dare to say that Ad Astra shows war strategies better than Kingdom. Also its more historically accurate
Anyway, the Kingdom Hearts UI was great
Great video man, Ive been wanting to get into editing and making videos and I would love to know how you did those sick ass videogame edits
I don't like ecchi but interspecies reviewers is one that I really enjoyed reading. Just seeing how they rate different species was quite fun and I was a little bit interested in how it builds its world. But since it's an ecchi you know where the focus is.
Same, unironically is one of the few series where the author doesn't shy away when comes to sex and fetish, it doesn't try to judge the characters for it also. I find it funny when reviewers call it trash because of the topics it discusses on.
Love the Psyren love, the series just came out at the wrong time, if they make an anime today it would be popular, the manga is great but even if it hit axed, I still think about what the other was planning for the future of the manga that we will sadly never see😢
No kidding very rarely do people talk about it. There are decent number of cartoons and manga that don't get enough love
"What do you wish for with those Murky eyes? Record of Highserk War". There is a manga if this, but it's barely out (16 chaptes) so I recommend web-novel if you will like it. And yes, it is Isekai... I know I know, but hear me out. Reincarnaited into medieval fantasy world where there is ongoing total war on the continent + magic. Lot of strategy, relationships, representation of medieval times, but also fantasy stuff, like monsters, dungeons and guilds, but that doesn't matter much at the start. Story show interesting way of a human slowly just destroying his morales in this war. Yeah, MC has some sort of OP power, but it's many times just dooms later on.
Man, the video game like style aesthetic is crazy!!!!
Recommendations for you!: bone by Jeff smith, durarara and Baccano by ryohgo narita, and all of the hunger games 😋
A comic recommendation I have is IDW Transformers More Than Meets The Eye, also Last Stand of the Wreckers. These are both good individual series and good jumping on points for the IDW universe if you wanna go into it.
You should check out Children of the Whales. It’s a super underrated series.
Wow i forgot about it and now that you mention it im really emotional 😢
I watched it on netflix a couple years ago, seems nobody else did...
holy shit i thought i was the inly who watched that. i kept looking for like a sequel but could not find it
Ever heard of “As the Gods Will” part 1&2? I remember reading it in highschool and recommending it to my friend which read it in a few days.
Bruh the editing in this vid is insane, I busted everywhere
did you read golden kamuy? i would recommend golden kamuy. it's an interesting story set in hokkaido set shortly after the russo-japanese war about indigenous folk and their traditions and finding the one piece!
it has lots of slice of life elements while also being really gory at times!
that chem book... really felt that
I recommend you read The Avesta of Black and White by Takashi Masada, it's a light novel with sci-fi medieval aesthetic mixed with amazing characters, overall it's one of the best pieces of fiction I have ever read
Gotta read No Longer Human
You should read Beck. Amazing series about a band with the same name and how they attempt to rise through the ranks of the music industry.
I would recommend that you read Jing: King of Bandits and Jing: King of Bandits Twilight Tales. Its a great story that has a werid an unquie world. It is also a bunch of one shot stories that all are very captivating and odd. It also has a lot of mystery around the main character and is very highly stylized. Its also the only full storie done by Yuichi Kumakura. The only other stories he has writen have been one shots or really short chapters. I would recommend giving it a go if you like weird and strange worlds.
Wait ur editing has improve significantly bro had a whole editing training arc
One manga i think would be a good read for you (that is if havent read it yet) is Ichi The Killer, a manga that Hideo Yamamoto wrote right before starting Homunculus
That said it isnt realy that serious of a manga as homunculus, but is still a very entertaining read
I'm gonna keep recommending Yawara until you either have said you've read it or it's included in a video lol. I saw the anime which was pretty darn solid, but the main event the series is leading up to got shortened to a tv special (which had the most important parts at least), while the manga apparently got paced properly, so I'd love to hear your thoughts about it
Why don't you just say it's by Urasawa. That's one of his favourite mangaka
@@Ash_Wen-li Shhhhhh it's supposed to be a surprise
Bro the video was amazing. Well done
TOP 5 BABY LETS GOO. Super dope video, liked the new stuff you tried doing. Had a really cool aesthetic. And I appreciate you reaching out to me for this
Cormac McCarthy is one my favorite authors . One of his other book I highly recommend is The Road . It's up there with Blood Meridian as one of his best books .
10:00 daaamn Max0r that is a top tier pick.
Man has a taste.
Would be super cool to see your thoughts on Full Metal Daemon Muramasa. One of the best stories I've ever read
U should read ALL of Lookism...
You stay out of this
