There are multiple jumps in all games (besides 5 and 6, also not counting certain titles 5 and new dawn or new dawn and 6). My point is most dev studios have just gotten lazy so you think it's okay to be sold the same game every year COUGH any ea sports game COUGH.

Activision just simply taking a few years off the COD games, would do wonders for the franchise. Less development pressure, more time to come up with new, unique and interesting ideas and more time to really perfect the core mechanics as well as the story, balancing and map design. And more simply, having some time away from a certain franchise builds so much more hype. Look at Halo, hasn't had a new entry in over 5 years, and look how much more excited people are for that (generally speaking). Also, it's not even like the cod games are really bad or anything, like you said, they're a well oiled machine, but too much of anything is a bad thing, whether it is good or not. I will be so disappointed if they release a new one next year, it's probably pretty likely, but a man can dream.
PS: Lots of good points in the comments here! No matter who your favourite developer is, or whether you still play the new cods and enjoy them or not, it's clear that something drastic has to be done sooner rather than later, in order to keep the interest going. I think everyone just wants another truly great cod game, not another 5 "meh" games before 1 amazing game.

Either they just stop toying around and call it what it is, CoD 2022, or just shake hands with each other and release one CoD, maybe every 3rd year. 6:16 "Shout out to World at War"
Bro WAW was the best WW2 based cod game !
The campaign was gritty, dark and violent. Some missions genuinely gave you an idea of how intense WW2 really was. That final mission where you place the Soviet Flag on top of the Reichstag was such a satisfying feeling. And that Stalingrad sniper mission was just so brutal and real !
Zombies, really what can you say ? It's the OG, the one that got everyone obsessed. And that 3rd DLC pack map I think it was spelled Der Reise is easily the best Zombies map in COD history. Super engaging, simple and had just the amount of add ons to make the gameplay enjoyable but not too gimmicky. How OP you felt when you had both a Pack a Punch'd Ray Gun and Wonderwaffe !
And lastly multiplayer.... Really underrated honestly. Sandwiched between 2 great multiplayer games. (COD4 and MW2) It was so short lived and honestly, it had some of the best gun balance and of any cod game. Sure the MP40 and the PPSH we're player favorites but even guns like the Type 100 or BAR we're relatively reliable with the right set up. I even remember all 5 sniper rifles were easily competitive with each other. The player movement was also very similar to COD4s so that's a plus too !
All in all WAS was such a short but sweet ride for me & I'd honestly put it as the 2nd best all around COD game just behind MW2.
    Miss those days !

i for one would love to see a modern warfare game come and implement alot of the good things from vanguard like the ability to shoot through walls alot of things in vanguard can be fired through making cover hard to pick. I also, like the ability to change ammo type to add certain characteristics to your play style like, FMJ and lengthen, subtle but good in a lot of ways. i believe this franchise needs more transparency as to the make it real war. After MW this game was finally going in a direction i could get behind. MW to me seemed to have less bugs and was the birth of war-zone, in which needs to have least 3-4 different maps to randomize as i know their huge but maybe swhich up the game play modes for those warzones. vanguard does a lot of good but also a lot of bad too, the shotguns for one is by far the most troublesome and they could have found a way to make the paint for your gun's better or at least be something that you could use or want to unlock. A lot of the paints in the game are awful looking and something i would never paint on a gun. Also the mastercraft weapons in pacific, are bugged. They glitch your character so you can't even see, however i see vanguard as it's typical COD fun with average expectancy of what the game has to offer. it's in a sense "what you'd expect" from the title. just feels a bit bland and WWII was very nasty of a war. this game relishes on the wood handle weapons with journeyman's craft grade metal workngs of the gun, they make WWII feel old when if they would have used a lot of the gun play feels from MW would have freshen the title up, instead they repeat the last play style mechanics as cold war (arcade) style feel. this game almost on a level feels like it was made for mobile game play. the maps are good in vanguard (dome) being the loathed map for me this game as i said before does good but has it's cringe too.

Campaign: 5/10 - not great, not terrible.
Multiplayer: 8/10 - gameplay looks and feels very smooth and very fun. Maps flow nicely. Servers a bit poor as of launch but will no doubt be fixed soon. Gunsmith is pretty overwhelming which is either a pro or con depending on how much you like to customize. Overall one of the better multiplayer experiences in the newer cod era.
Zombies: 1/10 - probably one of the worst zombies in a cod game ever. It’s not round based. Challenges are extremely repetitive as there are only 3. No Easter egg at all.

They had an opportunity to dive into the complexities of the Cold War, such an interesting time, and they produced a shit story. “Evil Russian wants to nuke America.” Thats the whole story. This is so dumb first because it doesn’t even remotely reflect the reality of the Cold War. Also because it’s just so damn one dimensional. What if they just spent some time to construct a story that feels real and motivates you to do the missions? I just personally feel that the stories are bad. The plot lines could have been written by kids. And if you want a linear cinematic FPS, I’m sure there are better ones out there that don’t cost you as much

Ive played CoD since it competed with MoH back in the day on pc and was there when the og MW dropped and changed how pretty much every studio does multiplayer with the rank and unlock system. Thats the perspective im sharing from so Ill just add that I was fairly disappointed at Cold War after really enjoying MW 2019.
If you enjoyed MW youll get your money with this entry, easily. All the mechanics from MW are back plus a few new ones in multiplayer like moving while mounted and shooting through destructible cover. Theres so much to unlock and customizing your guns is very well thought out and will surely keep you busy The zombies is the only thin, lacking mode here that feels a bit incomplete at launch. There's nothing much to it at this time other than surviving waves (no story, no real secrets, etc.) Its fun but thin, however if youre following the devs youre aware that new, larger content is dropping in December. The campaign shows effort, voice acting is believable and immersive and the set pieces are fun to play.
Also, shout out to Bear McCeary - the music in this game has no right being this good for an annual releasing franchise. The volins, drum beats, etc. It just kicks ass. When the music kicks off a match and 5 minutes later mortars are dropping and dogs are running lose it just pulls you in.
Anyway thats my thoughts - hope you enjoy it if you buy it. Great job Sledgehammer and Bear

What the developers COMPLETELY got wrong was the bombing scene (which starts roughly at 2:24). I am not talking about the obvious over-the-top Hollywood action scenes here - we all love them :) - but a tiny little detail that just struck me: the pilot CLOSES the canopy when going for the bomb dive and OPENS it (here: at around 2:37) only after having released the bomb (and the canopy seems to be open also during all other dogfight scenes, IIRC).
Now in the real world it was the exact OPPOSITE! The canopy might have been open during "normal flying" (including dogfights perhaps), but it was ESPECIALLY open during the bomb dives. Why? Because the airplane (naturally) loses altitude very quickly during such a dive, and in the humid and warm climate of the Pacific theatre at lower altitudes the glass would get foggy (coming from high up and cold temperatures) and the pilot would see nothing.
So yes, you had all the AAA, shrapnel and loud engine sounds all around you, including the (hot) air that was blowing into your cockpit - while trying to accurately place your bomb on the deck - with an OPEN canopy!
Yeah, just nitpicking ;) But given the fact that the developers actually introduced a "canopy open/close" animation makes you think why they got this important little fact wrong (they apparently did do research to some degree). :)
