It was the most heartbreaking and empty feeling I'd ever experienced but this song came just in time to comfort me. I took a long break from cavetown after my friend passed away two years ago.. When she passed away, I found some comfort in Cavetown’s music. But shortly after, I dug myself deeper into a hole where I wanted to go unnoticed- the world felt so different without her, yet everything stayed the same. I’ve been trying to build myself back up to listen to Cavetown’s music again because I really did love it. But it will likely always make me think of my friend.
I’m much better than I was two years ago, and I’ve received lots of nice comments in a post I made in the Just Add Water music video that make me feel like I am not alone. I’ll always appreciate that, and you guys.

I went in and out of being suicidal all while listing to Cavetown. Before I was in that place, his music made me feel more empathetic towards those who were, when I was in that place, his music made me feel less alone, once I was out of it, his music made me feel greatful for how much I've grown from that horrible experience. That shifting of perspective helped me appreciate his work no matter where I was mentally.

I’m glad I didn’t really hurt myself but rather cut my hair...

I feel like especially in quarantine, my mental health has caused me to distance myself from a bunch of people and I know they've done the same. I dont want to come back into their lives knowing I've probably hurt them, but this song makes me feel like maybe I should? maybe they want me still. Maybe they're not better off without me.
i think its worth trying. if its your mental health they cant blame you for that because it isn't your fault.
besides, if you don't try you'll never know, and you'll end up living with that regret. quarantine is very isolating and i know its hard to be around people in that state, but even just a text is better than being alone. i really do think its worth the effort.

This song feels like I'm remembering a bittersweet memory I never had
this is my comfort song. i listen to it *every* night before i go to sleep. thank you for this :)
This song...just something about it. It makes me feel so calm and nostalgic, though I think the nostalgia mainly comes from the fact that I listened to this all night when I was trying to get to bed in an Airbnb with my mom, older sister, friend, and her mom. My friend and I slept together in the same room and I remembered I had troubles sleeping so I decided to listen to Cavetown quietly from my headphones until they ran out of battery. I'm pretty sure that that was also the day this song went live. Since I was younger then, I don't think I knew how to or was able to make a playlist on CZcams so I could listen to Robbie's songs on it, so my sister offered to make a public playlist on her channel so I could listen to them whenever I'd like. I've always found comfort in Robin's songs, and I don't think there's anything better than that distinct feeling each and every one of them give you. Whether it's a collab, a cover, or just a solo.
I thought that this was the perfect collaboration. Pretty, yellow-haired Tessa Violet with Cavetown and his cute little mullet. The way Tessa's old-fashioned dress flowed, to the sweet, little red overalls worn by Robbie. They were just adorable, and they both looked so free. In that forest and warm, sunny landscape, swinging around and dancing. Why, it seemed so nice. Now, at 12:25a.m., I'd give anything just to feel that warmth. And, no, I don't mean literal warmth. I mean that old, fuzzy feeling you get when you listen to this song. You can feel it, can't you? It's all nice and relaxing and it makes you want to just be happy and roll around in a big field of daisies. Doesn't it? I wish I could do that, I really do.
Some days I just wished I were alone so that I could do whatever I want. No one to judge me, nor say one word. Everything would be quiet and the only sounds you could hear were birds politely chirping, the wind whistling softly, and maybe you could even hear the sun saying, "Ahh, it's so relaxing out here. No one around, just me and *you* ." The sun's always bright and cheerful. It never turns grey like you do - it just stays it's simple yellow. It doesn't feel any emotion except for happiness, and it was forced to be that way. Though it doesn't really mind, because it _can't_ mind. It can only act as how people interpret it. If people assume the sun must be very chill, relaxed, and always wearing sunglasses, then I guess that star that stands at a blazing hot point of 27 million degrees Fahrenheit will wear a tiny, little, human-sized pair of sunglasses.
Sometimes you may like the moon better. It'll always be a great big, greyish-white blob in the sky and it stays that way. The moon doesn't talk much, it doesn't prefer to. It finds that maybe, just maybe, if it were silent, it wouldn't get judged. No way, no how, it's just itself. Though still not quite _itself,_ it's never happy and it never tries to find the courage to speak up. It just sits up there, sometimes gleaming in the sky on its better days, and on its worse days it gets thinner and thinner until it shrivels up and turns away, meaning that the moon doesn't have very many good days.
And then you are left alone. Out waiting for the sun to come up again, aren't you? Or do you prefer the cold, wispy moon? Well, you don't have to decide, _this_ time. How about this, I'll let you in on a secret. You're neither the moon, nor the sun. You'll never be purely happy or purely sad. You'll just spend your days how they are and you'll do what you do. You'll feel good when you're good, bad when you're bad, and you'll just have to accept the fact that you'll never be how you want to be. You'll just be _you._

Listening to this song, I always imagine a little cottage with a garden out front and thick green woods pressing in from all sides. A little dirt path goes out from the gate and turns off to a larger road. It’s a very nice place.

I lost my dog suddenly two weeks ago, every time I hear this song it just reminds me of him so much. I’m also convinced that he had passed away, he was an old dog. I remember that he would always bark at fireworks and on the first day of July... (Canada day) This year was the very first year in a very long time that I had never heard him bark, then from that moment I just knew that he had passed away. I’m still trying to heal from the loss, but I’m doing better now.

I too lost once my dog once.... He was a mini pincher/doberman, he was my best friend and was always there for me when I needed someone to talk to, but as time passes I never really gave him attention that I used to give him until one day he went missing, me and my mom went all over our village to look for him, but to no avail we never did, until we got to this warehouse with a bunch of dogs in it, we asked them if they've seen my dog, and....they did! arden i lost my dog suddenly a couple days ago. he passed away very young & i’m having so much trouble coping w it. he was my best friend in the whole world. the lyric “u can come home to me when ur ready” makes me feel like it’s him saying he’ll be waiting for me in the afterlife whenever it’s my time to join him.
***cri**** the pain of losing a dog is so... depressing. it's like, dogs have a special meaning in life. when it's time for them to go... it's really painful. one of my dogs (she's currently 14 in human years) has been with me my whole life. it's really gonna be hard to say goodbye. i once had 2 Labradors, and the 14 yro dog at once. one of the Labradors we had to give away because my parents couldn't handle her.. the other one died of lymes (I think that's how you spell it) disease. he probably would've still been alive if my parents got him to the vet sooner.. i was heartbroken when i heard he passed. FRAK I'M TEARING UP. ima go cry now.

Ok so you don’t have to read this: I had a friend named Shirin we both were practically inseparable and each moment we spent with each other made us smile. However we were like puzzle pieces it looked like it fit but it never did, and even though we have been through so much emotionally, I would always choose to relive our friendship. We had so many arguments that we would have to go to the counselor to solve it, and it always ended with us promising that were just going to forget about it and move on, but we kept on having arguments so many times that I felt like the counselor was always not listening to me and focused on Shirins hurt feelings instead of mine. Afterwards we had 2-3 months of being strangers together, I realised that we were both emotionally draining each other, I wanted to rekindle our friendship and I made countless attempts to, yet she never even said a word. I snapped to the point where I wrote an apology letter for, me still being hurt about her actions(the counselor never did anything with my side, she always sided with her and I felt so hurt). I’m still waiting for a reply to come in.
