Probably no one will read this, but this song hit me so hard that I started crying and I still am. I feel like literally this song is made for me; since I was 8 years old I've been fighting with anxiety and depression, and a couple of years ago, when I was 13, I started self-harming and one year later intended to take my life away. I'm now 16 and I'm again in a dark cave again, feeling alone and depressed in the quarantine, sometimes thinking about ending it all, but after all taking care of my family and only 3 friends is the priority for me. One of my best friends is treating me in a horrible way, and I felt more alone than ever, but thanks to your songs and albums, bit by bit I start to feel more alive. I have literally not enough words to say thank you, and for all of you guys, stay strong, we are going to get over this 💖

The line "today I felt scared thinking about your empty bed" really hits hard for me. I have a dear, dear friend who is currently in hospital and it hurts so much to think of her bedroom at home being empty, her things being left untouched and her bed not being slept in. When we met we were staying on the same ward so I was never more than a minute away from her, and now I can't even take a train to see her. Thank you for writing this song - it means a lot to know that somebody feels the same way, even if they mean it differently.

I love how there’s a higher pitched voice in the chorus, almost making it sound like adult Robbie and child Robbie are singing at the same time. Like the part when he asks his neighbors to “take care of him for me”. You can hear a more child like voice in the background and through the rest of the songs choruses.
Also the stuffed animal Moomin in the washer could be alluding to the “Like Snufkin and Little My” line in *Lemon Boy.* I think it’s just because he likes the show though :)

Thankfully I’m in a better place now. You have no idea how much your music means to me, and so many others Robin. Thank you for teaching us to love ourselves and to be kind to others. 💕💕

I feel the same currently, and even though things are better I don't feel like they're great, so I don't really feel the best. I keep hoping things will get better, but sometimes life will just push me down without warning, even just a simple thought. Sometimes I think I'm too impatient wanting the good times to come immediately, and I end up blaming myself for being selfish, but I feel better later anyways, so I keep going. These kinds of things are confusing and doubtful, but knowing I'm not alone makes me know I can hope. Thank you.

6 months later (heh sorry) but when I was 13 (I’m 22 now) I was the “weird” kid who enjoyed a lot of things my “friends” didn’t, but I promise you, you’re one a kind and a truly special person don’t let anybody ever dim out the light you provide to this world. Like moths to a flame, protect your light and protect yourself from fake friends. you’ll find your forever’s, it won’t take forever but when it happens you’ll look back and realize I was never “weird” just not what they liked. I feel bad that I got a hole ripped in the side of my bunny's head, and then lost it.
My dog died the day this song was released. I got her when I was 8 years old, she died at the ripe age of 11, almost 12. She was taken away from me on March 26, 2020. I didn't get to say goodbye, I wish I could have been there for her, but I had gone to my boyfriends house. No one in my house checked up on my pets other than me. I find this to be an ode to her. My neighbors (all of my friends who have lost their battle to suicide, illness, or another reason) will take care of her in Valhalla.
I'm so thankful for this song, and your music. It's helping me get through what is now the darkest time I've ever been through.

When I was little I used to swap out which stuffed animal I slept with because I felt bad that they were in piles on the floor so I took turns loving them. Years later, I was sitting looking at all of them untouched and felt so guilty I took them all and piled them on my bed and slept with them surrounding me. I’ve never felt more safe.

For me it was when I was 12. I got into a really toxic place and almost killed myself. My "friends" reaction to when I showed them I was cutting was "oh those aren't that bad" I'm not even exaggerating. I actually wanted to cut MORE just to prove that it WAS "that bad". I'm sorry if this is tmi but I just felt like I could really relate to this song and wanted to say something. Have a wonderful day! :))

I relate to this song. Why? Well I've always kept a lot of stuffed animals/plushies and loved them all and treated them as if they had real feelings.When I moved countries I had to leave some behind and it made me feel awful. The lyrics at 1:36 show how I tried to fit in when I first moved and how I ended up with depression. I love cavetown. I always will. I hope to meet him someday. They're one of the reasons I'm still alive. I'm grateful for cavetown. I love you Robbie

This song makes me cry so hard each time it reminds me of one my friends that is suicidal and has a very abusive family and we became distance and I tried everything I could and I tried really hard to help him but we became just super distance but I still care about him, and so when it's says " today I got scared thinking about your empty bed oh no" I think of him , and also just" take care of him for me" reminds me of his new friends and " take care of you for me" and "you got to stay alive" I just hope to God he's okay especially with being quarantined rn 💖💖💖

i just feel so less lonely when i listen to his music. its like... it reminds me someone out there understands
listening to this reminds me of my thirteen year old baby cousin jack. we lost him in may to suicide, this song resonates with me and hits close to home. i wish he failed and got better. he was one of the funniest kids i’ve ever known, and i feel so lucky having spent time with him.
but i’m so sorry kiddo. i wish i could’ve taken your pain as my own, i’d trade my own life for yours in a heartbeat.
