  • What should you do if your Onewheel gets a flat tire? In this video, I cover several alternatives, including changing your tire and fixing the tire you have. At the end, I recommend an affordable solution that will get you back on your board quickly. This advice works whether you have a Onewheel+ XR, a Onewheel Pint, Onewheel V1 or a Onewheel Plus.
    Mentioned in this video:
    Armor Dilloz Tire Sealant
    Shot on:
    Canon EOS R
    Insta360 One R
    Other Gear:
    Gimbal: Zhiyun Crane 2
    Rode VideoMic Pro
    Edited Using:
    Final Cut Pro X
    Plug-Ins:
    Pixel Film Studios Auto Tracker
    Game I'm Playing for Exercise:
    Thrill of the Fight
    Game System:
    Oculus Quest
    Tires Mentioned:
    Hoosier Slick Pint Edition
    TFL Burris XtraRad
    Stock Pint Tire
    Onewheel is a product made by Future Motion. If you are in warranty, you can also send your board back to Future Motion for repair. This option wasn't mentioned in this video in part because shipping and repair turnaround times are not ideal for most.

    great genuine video dude. one tip with tire sealants, if its in your tire and you have leak, while the tire is inflated with some pressure still:
    Locate the cause, if its a puncture (like your first tire) - turn off the board, rotate the tire so the puncture is pointing down and let the sealant work its way down and into the hole.

      Slime might work. The owner of Armordilloz is embedded in the Onewheel community and makes a product that definitely works well. I’ve had only one scenario where Dilloz didn’t work. It was to patch a sidewall flat from a faulty Burris tire. They stamped their logos too deep on the SS-11 Slick tires.

      I enjoyed the Whisper better. It has a more rounded profile so it is less stable feeling, but I liked the nimble feel and the soft ride on the road. I can tell that the XtraRad is more durable. The XtraRad is quiet like the Whisper but you'll feel bumps with the XtraRad more than the Whisper. The XtraRad is still cool though.

    Isn't the warranty on the one wheel only six months anyways? how did you go through four tires in 6 months

    • @followdon
      @followdon  Před 3 lety +2

      The stock tire I had still had some life in it but it started to warp in shape in a way that made the ride less enjoyable. The Whisper is a very thin tire and in normal riding I would get down to the threads. So far the Xtrarad is holding up longer, but I ride my Pint much less now that I have an XR. The warranty is 12 months (or 1243 miles) for items other than the footpad, tire, and battery pack, and 6 months (or 622 miles) for the other board parts. Not super generous for sure. My Pint is way out of warranty now, and my XR is approaching its OOW status with mileage alone.

    • @followdon
      @followdon  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Personally, I run through a tire every 1,500 miles or so. But it depends on the tire, the terrain, rider weight, and other factors. I weigh 233 lbs. on average. For the tires, harder compounds last longer than softer compound tires. I used to ride the Burris SS-11. That tire is a soft compound and gets less life than the SS-33 variety (harder compound).

    • @followdon

      Onewheel does replace tires. It’s often more expensive considering you’ll have to cover shipping a heavy board. Then you’ll have to pay for the service. And you won’t get to choose your tire type. Tire choice is not a big deal if you love the stock Vega tires. I’m not sure how they’ll respond if you’ve installed 3rd party aftermarket items on your board. onewheel.com/products/tire-change

    @AbsoluteKhan. Před 2 lety

    Personally changing your tire is something YOU should do, unless you don't believe in yourself... it wasn't hard to get the board taken apart, the hardest part is trying to get the tire off the rim and putting the new one on and setting the bead!

    • @followdon
      @followdon  Před 2 lety

      Yes. And early on there is the confidence factor. You may be worried about doing irreparable damage out of ignorance and inexperience. Also, some may not have the tools to take the task on. Now I’d be more confident changing the tire on my own.

    I've been riding OneWheel for 3+ years and changing your tire DOES NOT void your warranty.
    That only happens if you break something in the process.

    • @followdon
      @followdon  Před 3 lety

      I'm not sure how many have tried to send their Onewheel to Future Motion for whatever reason after a tire change, but your risk of having service denied for an in-warranty board is dramatically reduced if you keep everything stock and fill your flat with a sealant I would imagine. Personally, I exited the warranty period long ago based to the number of miles on my board, but when I had my first flat there was a good chance it was still in warranty. But it would have been prohibitively expensive and unnecessary to ship my board to FM from Washington, DC, then wait for them to fix it and send it back when a sub $20 tire sealant would have fixed the issue.

    • @c0pyimitati0n
      @c0pyimitati0n Před 3 lety

      @@followdon I'm just talking from experience. I've sent in several boards since getting my first OW in early 2018. I've been denied warranty on broken controllers because they claimed it was due to "impact damage" but they have never once said anything about my tire, sidekicks, Badgered board, or new grip tape.
      I have spoken to people inside the FM circle and they confirmed that your warranty is only void if you break something in the process.
      Having said all that, sending your board in just for a tire change is so crazy to me. Changing your tire is so damn easy. Also if people don't feel comfortable they can just take it to a local Stoke Life Service repair shop. (Which I am actually a member of)
