Hi, I have a DV6- 2020sa. When I turn it on the caps/numb lock flash twice then a pause, then flash twice, etc. fans everything boots up but blank screen.. I read it could be a corrupt bios so I downloaded the bios image from the hp support website, extracted 3536F12.fd file and renamed it 3536F12.bin and copied it to the root of my flash drive as advised. plugged it in then held win key + B and turned it on. It fires up, after a short while I get two beeps then it just powers off and restarts. After that it just repeats the 2 beeps off.. Any ideas?
my bios crashed while offline, why ?

It worked for me, I installed a BIOS update for my HP Envy 15 j108la today and after restarting it didn't boot up again. After following these steps I was able to boot up the computer again. Why did the BIOS update fail in the first place? Anyway thanks HP for this tutorial :)
I am glad to hear you are back up an running. As to why the update failed in the first place it is hard to actually say. as there are several possibilities. It could have been a misread, checksum failure, power flicker, or one of many other possibilities.

I followed the process as described and got the black prompt as shown in the video at 1:10 , that says "A System BIOS recovery occurred BIOS Recovery (500) ENTER - continue to startup" followed by HP support link , but even after that it laptop remains in the boot loop everytime I start it, also getting into BIOS is a challenge afterwards no matter what I press F9, F10, F11, F1, F2, ESC randomly sometimes some keys work & I somehow enters the windows or bios I repeated the process mutiple times still the same. I wanted to know is that BIOS Recovery (500) message on black screen shows the success or some failure?

Sir/maam this method did not work for me. I have hp 15-ba021ax. Before my bios settings got corrupted i had dual boot enabled....what i mean is that i had backtrack and windows 10 installed. Somehow i first ended up deleting my some partitions....but at that time my bios settings were there. Then i tried booting with kali linux , but at that time (when i opened the bios settings) bios settings hanged, no buttons would work while bios settings were on....so i ended up removing my battery to fix it. Thats when my bios settings disappeared and screen got blank and i ended up with corrupted bios . Please helpme.

My DV7 2140ed crashed during heavy workload, froze and never started up again. Ik get those two flashes (BIOS corruption). When I use the win+B / power button, the laptop will power off after 2/3 seconds, and nothing happens. It simply powers down (like it isn't detecting the keyboard, and only detects pressing the power button). Pressing (still holding the win+b) power will simply repeat the blinking LED codes... An USB drive formatted with FAT/FAT32 with the BIOS in .bin / .fd / .rom doens't work either, like it isn't detected. I'm fairly sure that the original drive with partitions is still intact. Any suggestions? Please help!

For the Love of God and Computing, why has HP Compaq decided to remove Driver Software Content and Pages from the official HP Website. Especially for my HP Compaq Presario C772TU? It appears especially cruel and unjustified that a running laptop without a stable BIOS has ZERO support from either HP the manufacturer, nor its motherboard INtel nor its BIOS developer INsyde. I did it in my omen 16 b0171tx. before that, I noticed there is some problem with the display because my integrated display is not powered on and not detected in device manager, I also noticed that the system firmware had a warning and so I want to boot up to my bios to recover. I want to enter the bios but the screen still not powered on so I can't see what's in the bios. so, then I attempted to just powered it on and straight to windows 11 but it does not work. my Integrated and external display is not powering on despite the laptop is powered on. so, I followed this video as my last resort (after reinstalling my ram stick and battery), but it didn't work. I did hear a beeping sound, but I don't know what the meaning of it. it just beeping and the display still won't turned on despite the laptop already turned on. as the videos says, the display should automatically turn on and start performing the recovery, but not in my case. hey, will it delete all apps and personal files after doing it?
Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
I understand that you need to know whether restoring the bios will delete the data.
I will do my best to assist you.
A system recovery completely erases all files, programs, and saved work on the hard drive. Always back up important information before attempting a recovery. If additional hard drives are connected to the computer, for example an HP Media Drive, disconnect the data and power cables from the back of the extra drive before performing a system recovery. This prevents possible data loss on the additional drive.
