Nigel Farage claims West 'provoked' Russia's invasion of Ukraine

  • Nigel Farage has claimed the West “provoked” Russia into its deadly invasion of Ukraine two years ago.
The Reform UK leader said the European Union’s expansion as well as Nato had provided Vladimir Putin with an “excuse”.
His incendiary comments came in a high-profile television interview less than two weeks before voters go to the polls.
They are likely to prompt an angry backlash from politicians across the spectrum, who have supported Ukraine as it attempts to fight off the Russians.

Yes the EU and NATO have expanded.
      Why?
Because countries requested to join and were accepted. Which is far different from being forced to join the Warsaw Pack, and then being governed from Moscow as happened post WW2 until the collapse of the USSR.

Why have no journalists or politicians in the West forgotten the promise made by American and Western European politicians at the time of German reunification?
At that time Baker, Genscher and others promised Gorbachev that NATO would not move an inch (!!!) east if he allowed German reunification. Gorbachov, the naive philistine, believed them and withdrew USSR troops from East Germany and the entire Eastern Bloc. Why didn't the US army also leave Europe then, just like the Russian (USSR) army?
Today, NATO is on Russia's borders and Western politicians are amazed that the Russians, cornered, reacted?
The West cheated Gorbachov, it cheated Russia. Western politicians have forgotten their false promises. Now they are wondering and putting on a show of hypocrisy in front of the public. Psychopaths have reached the highest levels of the united West. It scares me that the people of the West believe the liars, and vote for the liars who have brought Europe to the brink of WW3.

I watched the whole thing unedited, it was actually awful.
For example, he said to Nigel that Nigel claimed Brexit was a failure.
Nigel said the implementation of Brexit was a failure, but in essence Brexit was a success. Meaning Brexit was about getting control of sovereignty and border policy. We have that now. We didn’t in the EU. So yes Brexit was a success.
What wasn’t a success was getting down overall migration numbers. The interview put that on Nigel, but Nigel explained that he wasn’t in government and so the actual decision of migration policy fell to the Tories, not him. Which is an objectively true fact.
The interviewer then said to Nigel that he’s always got someone else to blame, and that it was his words things would better after Brexit.
The problem with that is that the interviewer is literally ignoring the fact Nigel wasn’t a member of government and thus has no actual authority or ability to reduce numbers. That is a biased position ignorant of facts.
Another was when he tried to make it seem like that Nigel was a Putin sympathiser because Nigel said he respected Putin’s statesmen ability. This is a dishonest blatant attempt at a smear. I can acknowledge adolf Hitler was a good political strategist and oratory speaker. But that doesn’t mean I agree with his views or actual policy. This is a brain rot take from the interviewer.

The governments of the west used to agree(at least publicly claiming to agree) to not expand NATO to the east.
    Then they expanded east.
Then they said we should continue to expand east and that it's not a security concern for Russia.
Now they're saying Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a security concern for the west.
    This begs a few questions:
    1. Why did the west expand NATO to the east after agreeing not to.
    2. If expanding east isn't a security concern for Russia and didn't provoke a response from Russia then why did the western governments in the 90's agree to not expand NATO to the east?
    3. If Russia in Ukraine is a security concern for the west then why is NATO in Ukraine not a security concern for Russia?
    4. If the governments of the west thinks Russia in Ukraine is a security concern then why do they not agree to not expand NATO to Ukraine in exchange for Russia leaving Ukraine?

@user-hs6xs7zl6k Hypocrites in the biggest way.
When Missiles appeared in Cuba, WWIII nearly started.
When the Soviet Union fell apart, NATO promised Russia that they would never push East. We let Poland join, plus a bunch of countries like Latvia and Lithuania all become NATO members (the promise to not push east was well and truly broken) to prove that NATO's new borders, all along the west of Russia's border to which Russia pushes a little bit back with that carry on in Georgia in 2006 I think it was?
Did we listen to Russia? Not then, and to rub salt into the wounds Russia's NATO application gets rejected. We could've been good friends, but no, Ukraine wants to join NATO, which of all the other countries has a bigger border than the lot of them with Russia.
Could be argued that it was a Cuba-style flex to which Russia started a conventional war, Not WWIII as promised by the USA back in the 60's.
As soon as that starts, we then get the last 2 countries in the west with a border with Russia in Finland and Sweden.
How that isn't seen in the same way astounds me. It could be said NATO has created a situation far worse than Cuba.
The lives of the soldiers being changed forever as young men from anything to losing a finger right up to and including death is somewhere around the 400,000 between them, surely that is worse than Cuba.
Putin warned 1000 times that he would attack Ukraine if NATO kept on letting Ukraine think they might get to join NATO.
Rather than the straight rejection Russia got when it applied, Ukraine was a long drawn out one which would look to Russia tge NATO were seriously considering their application.
You will never belive what the guy who said the sane thing 1000 times did.....?

Ok let’s think. So if Putin started setting up a nato equivalent and countries joined and he promised us he wouldn’t get any closer to us and allow any country close to us join but he kept allowing more and more to join and got closer and closer to us and all of a sudden he allows France to join even tho for decades he was promised he wouldn’t, I wonder if it would be our fault or his fault. You are the one telling lies. NATO and the EU are not countries. They don't have a border to expand. You have to ask to join. Its Russia that is expanding its borders. Expansionism is defined as the belief that a country should grow larger : a policy of increasing a country's size by expanding its territory.
