Terry Wogan hosts A Song for Europe 1995 - the show to find the UK entry for the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest. The cuts in the video were made during the recording of the programme.
One of the best UK finals ever! Any one of the top four could have been a potential ESC winner and Love City Groove, while they didn't quite bend jurors' ears enough, certainly set a precedent in the dragging of the contest towards the 21st century.
"I Need You" by Deuce would make the UK Top 10 that April, the follow up to their big Top 20 smash at the beginning of '95, "Call It Love"... whereas Love City Groove would represent the Song Contest despite "rap ain't too big in places like Iceland just yet" and managed to go to No.7 in the UK that early summer.
I so think One Gift of Love could of made it to the 5th Victory for the United Kingdom that year. Love City Groove was cool and different but to different for Eurovision.
Where are you now, FFF? Shame they didn't get to speak for themselves- maybe they were too shy. I like how there's a bit of Steve Lamacq saying "I like the Boo Radleys', which has nothing to do with what follows.
I'm not sure but think deuce was the only none winner to chart in the uk (even though sister sway should have in '99,) I thought deuce had 5 members though? only 4 in here, from the main 5 members I heard that 1 of the girls in the group is (or was) the wife of either ant or dec, lol
Watching this back is so depressing, what a horrendous bunch of competitors to represent the country in Eurovision 😑 how did Deuce - I Need You not win this? It was easily the best song of the bunch and the most suitable for Eurovision too. Love City Groove sounds horrendously naff listening back to it now but even then it was still vastly better than the other 6 entries. Watching this makes me wonder how the rest of Europe didn't vote us out of the EU 20 years before we voted ourselves out 😆

deuce was the best song by far
Am I the only one who absolutely loves I'm your puppet on a string??
I think you might be, yes.

I don't think anyone would have beaten Norway, Spain or Sweden tha t great year!
It was something different
Oh good heavens!!
Cheers. Pity we didn't do it!
x
Deuce should have won this and they would have been top 3 in Eurovision , i
liked the boys in the song.....really hot
I was 15!! I can remember every word, haha!
I loved that London Beat one
Dear Jon could have been a strong contender to win.
It should have been Dear John
Am I going mad or did Nicky Cambell also do a top of the pops special to choose the act for 1995 ?
How the hell did Deuce only come 3rd.... this is what happens when you put the best song/act on first...... insanity
The lead vocalist cannot sing and hits multiple flat notes on the verses. I suspect that cost them victory.
Is the dark haired guy in Deuce also in Scooch?
That’s what I was thinking
No, not the same guy.

You’re thinking of steps
Sam Fox certainly has her knockers but I for one think she's got a great voice.
But that’s how you measure a person’s true greatness. By their knockers.
Deuce - were the wanna be steps but never quite made it. the girl from deuce with short black hair is (ant and dec) - anthony mcpartlins wife
yeah dooooo we know that
Deuce should have won. Sam Fox was good too. Rest was rubish lol
