I don't mind listing to a ramble. It is the type of thing I listen to while painting.

I don't mind this type of "news/rumble" videos and it helps to have something to make "noise" while i do some assemble . Today i did do some italieri/wg walls .
Some toughs about starting new game systems - P&S have large count of models (my starting army is 200+ models strong) and maybe you should consider something smaller . Musket and tomahawk is smaller game and don't require huge investment and with that small units of different models you will not get bored. Same story with Saga. And for example from one box of plastic Saga models you can almost 2 war bands with 4 point (for you and yours son or anyone else who you want introduce to game)
There are some other fast and small games which don't requirement huge investments and can be fast to play and fast to learn and paint .
About painting terrains: its always good to have some home but try to go for some universal peaces - like woods or walls . That way you can use in all of yours games and save some spaces etc.

Jason... Enjoyed listening to your YT channel update, but just to clarify: I'm THE slowest painter in the wargaming community.. ;-)

Heh, I spent the 24 minutes painting, so I'm glad you posted! Also, good to hear about the various projects. I've been mulling over another "stop and re-evaluate" for my own hobbying, and your thoughts have convinced me it's time. I'm jealous of how much you're able to focus, even with a spread of projects. My turn to do that! An upcoming move also necessitates getting rid of stuff I'm not going to need.
I'll PM you about Super Dungeon Explore. I've got extra sets of the minions that I can share with you, if you want your son to do some practice painting.
Looking forward to the 6mm...I need a little boost in getting my own 6mm back on track. Especially since I have made a shopping list for more!

Justin Borges I think you jinxed me, because the hobby focus you mentioned seems to have disappeared in recent weeks! It'll be good to start a new project, though...thanks for the comment!

Nice! SDE is really fun. I started painting the figs and now that I just (hours ago) received the SDE: Forgotten Kingdoms KS I know have way to many SDE figures. I'm not a fan of painting the cartoony style so painting them is a mighty slogfest, but the game is fun. I'd play the game and paint the figs when you feel like it.
I dig the format, I typically have audiobooks playing while I work or hobby. Looking forward to future HC updates. As fun as BA is, I prefer the setting of HC and P&S. But the giant army stuff…sigh.

Derek Kinsman Thanks for the comment, Derek. I'm about done with my Germans for a while (although I'd like to eventually get to the Panther, Hanomag, Pioniers and eventually a StUG). We'll see, though, as there is something quite daunting about lining up hundreds of figures to paint...shudder...

Painted pink (which is a colour I've re-evaluated recently, good for faded reds) for the first 19 minutes or so. You mentioned "blue, or whatever colour the Swedes had" when talking the Thirty Years War. This was a time when uniforms were introduced, so a few units had them, but then it was more a case of "my colonel got a good deal on a bunch of red cloth" and less about "every Swedish soldier must have the exact same blue uniform". Most soldiers looked like homeless hobos after a few months anyway, and many of them fought in their civvies, so it's actually more historically correct not to do uniforms. I find it's a good way to get variation in the painting.
Might be good to try some TYW if you tire of feldgrau and red. ;)

Martin Wohlert Agreed on the need to change things up a bit, although I have a huge stack of Romans that are making me feel guilty. And both 6mm and 28mm varieties to boot!

Great talk, thank you for the mention. I agree with you that Bolt Action would be a harder game to make a battle report for. Loving the game though. I definitely have too many projects on the go and it is always expanding lol. Playing a game of Ronin tomorrow and hoping to get some filming done ;) Painting challenges are good as motivational tools. Good luck with your future projects - 6mm looks great on the table I have to say.

Mini Warzone I'm still looking forward to the 6mm stuff, but my next project will depend on finding a game (which has been more of a challenge than I thought). Keep up the great work yourself!

Good ramble, looking forward to seeing you get back into the Hail Caesar and very interested to see how you get on with the 6mm miniatures...Ian

Great ramble, allowed me to actually get some work done.
