Which is better, Beyond the Gates of Antares or 6mm Hail Caesar?

  • Yes, the title is (deliberately) inflammatory, but I'm looking for feedback on which project I should jump on next!
As always, subscriptions, thumb's up, comments and (constructive) criticism is welcome!

I'd watch videos on both but if I had to pick one it would be 6mm Hail Caesar. I wouldn't attempt it myself because 6mm scares me and the number of minis that would go with it REALLY scare me. That being said though it's you going through with it so I have no reason to be scared. LOL!!

If go down the 6mm route because it's historical, but at the end of the day paint what your interested in. After all it's your hobby

+MrSuperchippy74 Thanks for the comment! Its the history of the models more than their size (size DOES matter!), so I think there'll be a pretty even division that will favor Antares at first because of the speed of getting the kits together and my familiarity with 28-mm models. But the other guys have elephants, man! ELEPHANTS! ;)

I'd go for the one that inspire me most, in your case that seems to be GoA. My friend painted some 6mm Greeks recently, you might find some good ideas from him, like the multi-scale terrain. Hm, seems youtube don't allow links, but search for Hook Island Gaming on Wordpress for his blog.

I think that you are asking wrong kind of questions. You should ask with who i will play one or other game. You did say in yours last video that you didnt find some good gaming group- maybe that should be yours first step. If you want just paint for fun go with what models you have already - gates.

+deende79 Thanks D! Not really a huge market for either, so this is more for me right now. Probably a better shot with Antares (plus it would be easier and more interesting to my son, in all likelihood), but here's to hoping!

What's the base size for 6mm Hail Caesar? I have been looking at them myself. I picked up a Baccus 6mm SPQR starter set and I would love to paint some for Hail Caesar.

The 6mm scenery was awesome! I would like to see the minis themselves.

I say go with whatever you want first. In this video it sounds to me as if you want to start with Beyond the Gates of Antares. As for the 6mm stuff then check out this video by Ringo Simpkins if you haven't already:- czcams.com/video/3zztVCjYpYk/video.html
Good luck with whatever one you decide to do.

+Mini Warzone Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't know Ringo was into 6mm.
