- An explanation as to why I decided to (modestly) monetize some of my videos.

I'm perfectly fine with the pop up at the bottom of the screen and the ads at the beginning of videos. I don't think they are out of line. I haven't done this to my videos but I have no problem with others doing it. If I was more consistent with content and put out "better" content I would look into it.
Personally I don't have any issue with it - most people are doing it these days and like you I had mixed feelings about it at the start but trust me if you are going to do it then you need to monetize all of your videos past and future if it is to be worthwhile for you. As for those who say you should stay pure and un-monetized - well good for them if they want to be that way then they can crack on but having and maintaining a CZcams channel takes time and in my world time is the new money. I'm not sure people even think about it. You expect an advert to pop up or have to close an advert after 5 seconds. The really annoying ones is where you have to watch a 30 second advert with no closing option!

I have no problem with monetization, this is not a cheap hobby and you aren't using you're own time to make the video, good luck
I'm one of the heartless bastards using AdBlock Plus, so I won't notice. Hope that loss in revenue doesn't bother you too much.
