  • What going on yall its ya boy Mike!! Happy to bring you another one... firstly I just wanna adress the fact that we've been on season 7 forever... life has been hitting us hard but we have plans to get back to form with season 8! This episode was pretty good, it starts with Dany and Co. Arriving to kings landing. Showing Cersei the Walker they captured, albeit not enough to make her want to cooperate. After some discussion with her brother Tyrion, cersei seemingly changes her mind, but it's later revealed to us that she has no plans to help. Her and Jamie end the season at odds ends with eachother. While Jon and Dany end up together. Theon gets an apology from Jon and forces the other ironborn to follow him to save Yara. All that and the episode still finds time to kill Baelish at the hands of the Stark 3. Overall a good episode that leaves alot left for us to find out in season 8. Can't wait. Got alot planned. Excited to see you all there :)

    After the Unsullied took Casterly Rock, Euron only destroyed their fleet, and didn’t come on land to battle. That left the mass majority of the Unsullied stranded at Casterly Rock. They even made mention of it 2 episodes back that the Unsullied would have to march all the way from the rock back to kings landing. Since they were not present last episode, and that trip beyond the wall was actually a long time, that large march was done off screen during the events of the last episode. A bit of a time jump maybe, but not much considering Jon and the rest still had to sail from the wall all the way down to kings landing.

      They only said that because the haters planted time jumps in their head. There was no such feeling (Flawed) with the original reactors to the show, who reacted to the show as the episodes first aired. If there wasn't any mention of any time jumps when Ned & Robert were having a chat in the field on their journey to Kings Landing from Winterfell, where the very next episode they were already at King's Landing, than why should there be a mention of a time jump with Grey Worm & the Unsullied, where they were at Casterly Rock, 4 episodes earlier? The Boyz accessed the situation incorrectly, the Unsullied didn't need their ships (Destroyed by Euron) anymore to march their troops on land to King's Landing, a fraction of a distance away from King's Landing by comparison with Winterfell to King's Landing, that took Ned & Robert just 2 episodes, where we learned previously that the king took a month to get to Winterfell. George Fanboys hated the ending & are playing Monday Morning QBs by trying to manipulate the reactors to hate the writers, as they managed to do to some others. Not seeing the Unsullied march to King's Landing, is essentially saying that we the viewers couldn't figure it out. Total hypocrisy, as no such claim is made in HOTD by the book readers, when there are several ten year time jumps, where 95% of the viewing audience who never read the books, had to access what the hell is going on in a far greater way, then here.

    they have some elemental and political parallels in the show as well, but that's nothing compared to the books. they're almost the same character.

    "It's not what I want, it's what honor demands."...Now here is finally a ruler who makes a decision not out of the need to display strength, or out of greed, or fear, or anger, or impulse, or cause they're convinced they're the Chosen One. She does so inspite of herself, because it's the right thing to do. Even when she stands up to say her last words to Baelish, she's got a tear in her eye. Curious detail. Power doesn't corrupt, it reveals. How we exercise it says a lot about us. Everytime the dragon queen executed someone she had that Manson Lamps glowing in her eyes. She was so proud of herself she damn near looks orgasmic watching other people die. That's the difference. The moral of the story has always been the immutable nsture of absolute power and the perils of one-minded pursuit of that power.

    In early seasons, travelling from one place to another takes a very long time.

    Now a character can just teleport from Dorne to the North between two scenes.

      4 episodes. They were in episode 3. What's hilarious is that it took Ned & Robert to arrive in King's Landing in just 2 episodes from Winterfell. The distance from Winterfell to King's Landing, is easily 5-10 times the distance then of Casterly Rock to King's Landing. I don't ever remember a George Fanboy complaining about Ned & Robert suddenly taking a bullet train to King's Landing. It took a month for the king to arrive to Winterfell. Sadly, the Boyz bought in to some of the manipulation being planted by some of the haters, who became Monday Morning QBs after they disliked the ending. The only reason why they are reaching. Everyone always needed to piece together what's going on. What's hilarious is the time jumps in HOTD, where the book readers were ok with it, because George wrote it in. Leaving 95% of the other viewers needing plenty of time to figure out what the F is going on between episodes. A far bigger process in HOTD, then realizing here, that simply Grey Worm marched his forces on land (Not by sea, as Euron destroyed their ships) to King's Landing, arriving 4 episodes later. Jon & company used ships, in no way are we to assume that Jon & Grey Worm left to King's Landing simultaneously just because we saw them at King's Landing together. Like assuming that everyone that is at the airport to catch a flight, took an equal distance of a ride to arrive at the airport. One can arrive at the same time but not necessarily taking the same time to get there.

      There may have been some residual sibling rivalry left over from when they were younger, before their worlds turned upside down when poor old dead Ned lost his head.

    Exactly! Not only are dragons tied to magic, but its been said multiple times by several characters that when the dragons returned to the world, all magic was increased significantly to the warlocks/witches of the world. So Viserion not only has its original dragon/fire magic, but it now also has the magic of the white walkers. Which is why its fire is blue.

If they knew what Littlefinger had done, that was all the reason they needed to execute him. The people in that room never gave a shit about him trying to wormtongue Sansa. They cared about him betraying Ned and killing Lysa - whch Sansa saw him do, with her own eyes. I can buy that they figured it out AFTER the arguments. It feels like there should be a scene to explain it.

    Your reactions and discussion points are great about the show. The episode title "The Dragon and the Wolf" basically refers to Jon Snow's parents Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark but can also be said it refers to Jon Snow himself as he is a hybrid of both.

    I loved Jon and Dany getting together but I was also awarded no spoilers so I just thought he was a stark through all S7. To me they were fire and ice, the 2 strongest names who would be a power house together. I thought he was able to touch Drogon because he's a good guy and Dany got to see that through the dragon scene. You know, all the fantasy perfect fairy tale things that GoT does not do. So I had my guard dropped and was excited then equally grossed the fuck out that they were related, plus all the issues that might come from that. GoT did it to me again! Loved it. Always love how the show could play with my emotions like that. It's the best part.

    The Game of Thrones and the Game of Faces are both based on lying well, or peeping someone else's lies - the Stark sisters learned (and mastered) the same game within their own skillsets. "She's the smartest person I know." I'm not a Sansa fan, in general, but Arya's not lying here, and she's one of the few who would know it well.

    • @bobdonda
      @bobdonda Před 10 měsíci

      I think the writers did a terrible job of portraying Sansa as the strategist who outmaneuvered Littlefinger. She does a lot of dumb things. Most recently, agreeing to marry Ramsay for absolutely no strategic reason, despite the show pretending her being married is somehow necessary for the Boltons to be defeated. Then she hides information from Jon about the knights of the Vale, nearly allowing Jon and all of the northern soldiers to be killed. Things would have likely gone much better if they just waited 30 minutes to start the battle.
      The only smart thing she does is get the hell out of King's Landing after Joffrey's death, and she would have been smarter to leave at her first opportunity which she turned down. Sansa isn't stupid enough to blindly agree with whatever Littlefinger says to the point where she'd imprison her own sister for no reason and never wonder "wtf is he talking about, why would my sister be a threat" but not being a complete moron doesn't make her a genius. The writers failed both her character and Littlefinger.

    • @steffurness
      @steffurness Před 10 měsíci

       @bobdonda That's fine. I've read all these complaints, and more, before. My comment isn't about D&D's mishandling of Martin's characters though. I was highlighting the parallels between the girls' informal, and life-saving, education, despite their childhood assertions that they're nothing alike.
      Sansa had to learn that everyone in King's Landing is a better liar than her to achieve her queen dream, and Arya had to learn that "we never stop playing," which is akin to Cersei's "You win or you die." Unfortunately, the honor and honesty virtues their father taught them have a low success rate in their world. It doesn't really matter what the showrunners spoon-fed the audience regarding Sansa's intelligence - their lessons in those games naturally gave them an equal-footing, and an innate understanding of each other, that wasn't there before. The games did that regardless of an outside viewer's perception. In show, considering Arya's path, and level of intuition about others at this point, when she says, "She's the smartest person I know," I believe her - no need to hang a lantern on Sansa's smarts.
      That's also a path Martin set them on, not D&D. As far as I'm aware, Sansa is not the one married to Ramsey in the books, and Jon is still dead, so it'll be interesting to see how those journeys pan out differently. I'm curious though, if this is your opinion of Sansa, do you think Robb equally as stupid?? He also entered a completely unnecessary, unstrategic, *and* ill-advised wedding, knowingly sent thousands to their death in order to capture one man, and got killed by men less honorable than him.

    • @bobdonda
      @bobdonda Před 10 měsíci

      @@steffurness Robb is definitely stupid, but a different kind of stupid. He never understood the importance of marrying for political alliances, and someone calling himself king needs to know that. He never suspected Walder Frey would betray him even know he screwed over Walder by marrying someone else, and it's not like Walder is known to be kind and forgiving.
      You can just say Robb is too naive though, anyone might do that. But the really stupid thing was executing the head of the Karstarks - everyone told Robb not to do it and it'll cost him almost half his forces, he did it anyway, they left and he regretted it. WTF did he think, just because he has a crown everyone will go along with whatever he says?
      Still, I can't compare that to the "I'm just not going to tell Jon reinforcements are coming, for no reason at all" kind of stupid. But I think situations like that weren't intended, I don't think they intended to make Sansa look like a fool, it's just questionable or lazy writing that makes her look that way.

    What's BS about this scene is that Uncle Benji when he saves Brandon, tells him that the only way the White Walkers can get through the wall is if it collapses. He goes on to say that the wall is protected by spells. I'm thinking this walker was put on the ship on the other side of the wall...it's the only way it could have been brought south. Then again in the earlier series, when Jon saves the Lord Commander from the white in castle black, the dead becomes a white inside the castle.

      they both kissed irl once (there is literally a photo) and are super close so they do have chemistry but unfortunately the writing in season 7/8 was so trash it couldn't do the couple justice when in the books it's supposed to be some epic romance that is constantly foreshadowed (hell, they foreshadow so many parallels in the show too)
      so no, i don't think it's the fault of the actors, it's just what they were given because lets be honest, did any couple hit at all in season 7 or 8?
      the answer is no
      jon is unrecognizable in season 8, and dany is halfway through as is every other character so it's really hard to judge
      they had no grrm writing to back them unlike other couples because they aren't together in the books... yet
      it had to be all from d&d's imagination and i think they hated the couple/hated kit/jon/hated dany so it wasn't going to work regardless
      i like it because they look hot together and the build up foreshadowing is SO good but yeah, unfortunately d&d sucked

    I think the concept of Rhaegar and Lyanna actually having been in love and married is interesting and the way that it would turn so many things we took for granted on their heads would be wild (Jon not actually being a bastard after that having been such a huge part of his identity, Jon being the trueborn heir to the throne, the entirety of Robert's Rebellion including the death of Ned's father and brother being built on a lie, Rhaegar not having been the monster that kidnapped and raped a girl but being more like the man Ser Barristan described to Dany who was gentle and kind, etc). If that's going to be how it is in the books, which I'm not sure if it is, it's already planting the seeds better than this which does feel sudden and forced. I'm wondering if they're just mashing up 2 separate storylines from the book like they've done before. More about that under a spoiler warning down below

    **BOOK SPOILERS**
    I'm wondering if this plot, there being a trueborn heir to the Iron Throne named Aegon, is just D&D's way of taking the Young Griff/Aegon plot from the books and putting it on Jon, the same way they took the fake-Arya-marrying-Ramsay story and put it on Sansa. I don't believe Lyanna would choose the name of Rhaegar's only other son to be the name of her son, so at the very least I firmly believe that will not be Jon's true name, regardless of whether George has Rhaegar and Lyanna be married in the books

If this was one of many sons and one of the others was named Aegon maybe I'd buy it, or if it was the father's name sure, I could see both women chosing it, but I still think the more likely explanation is that they've just merged two storylines from the book

    Yo, your Full House intro had me DYING!! HAHAA!!
    The biggest thing that bugged me about this episode is seeing Jon and Brienne and everybody that came from the North pretty much in their big ass furs. They must be hot as fuck in that shit down there in King's Landing. There was no need for that, take that shit off.
    But yeah the time jump thing is jarring. But look at it this way, do you really want to see entire episodes showing the logistics of moving whole armies around Westeros, or even just throwaway lines of expositional dialogue about who is where and where they're all moving to and from? Sometimes ya just gotta show, not tell. Show that Dany clapped up with all her troops, all her power. That was the goal. Who cares how they got there? That probably took months of travel, months that we didn't need to see.
