I agree! I've listened to Disturbed's version of the sound of silence when he first came out with his way of singing and I was blown away. But, now coming across Dan's cover of this song, I love his interpretation more. To me, his voice is much sexier.

David portrayed the devil himself being totally disgusted with us for not heeding his warnings. Dan, though, paid incredible homage to David, like the reviewer mentioned.

This is a great cover of Disturbed’s version, and I absolutely love Dan Vasc, but the Disturbed version is much darker. David Draiman really brought the emotion. Dan’s cover is great but David Draiman’s is amazing.

Dan also covered this in 2016. I love listening to the older one and the newer one, seeing how much he's improved, even though he's always been good. Keep exploring his channel! He's amazing!

Love Dan Vasc. One of the first vocalists I discovered many years ago when I started watching CZcams. For years I only watched music videos. Legendary artists, new artists and the unknown artists. What I discovered was there were gifted people across the globe that had more talent in one finger than many that are making millions of dollars in the industry. Dan is one of them.
One of my favorites of his is "Bring Me To Life" Cover [MALE VERSION] - EVANESCENCE.
It's a great cover of the Evanescence song by female "metal" vocalist Amy Lee. Check her out too. Her live concert Evanescence - Bring Me To Life by Evanescence is better than the original video.
It seems to be much more refined, then the version done by Disturbed. This is almost operatic, granted I am not a music critic by any stretch of the imagination.
So much better than the disturbed version. His vocals are 100%% better. Dan Vasc is truly an amazing singer

His rendition was only an empty shell singing words.
I also never said he didn't have some talent, I said he was a copycat and true geniuses and truly talented artists make a song their own, not actually trying to copy someone note for note unless it's for an acting gig or other specific reason.
One of the many things that marks Dan V from other great singers is that he believes song tell a story, and you really feel it when he sings.
I really liked it when his accent came out, he should do it more with his natural accent. But overall it’s effing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👵🏼💜☮️

Dan is the best!!! But I am confused as to why I don't hear his accent when he sings, when others say they can hear it. I live in Missouri USA. I should be able to detect an accent, even when someone sings but I can't. I have only heard it in some of his really early music and once in American Trilogy when he sings "leeve" instead of live. That would be a good one to listen to! Thanks for all your reactions to Dan!!!

Just a quick comment...I had to go open up the actual video to check, because I didn't think I had seen any delays in the audio-visual sync when I watched it (about 50 times) before. Just so people who have NOT watched the actual video yet, don't expect the visual and audio to be out of sync in it, as they are here.
I don't know if you've done that on purpose or not, but to me, it's really detracting. Other than that, I totally agree with your whole evaluation. 😀
Another version of this you NEED to check out is Pentatonix. It's AMAZEBALLS!!!! They're an accapella group that uses NO instruments, just their voices & their beat boxer. They're a rabbit hole you should go down. Also, you want to hear an AMAZEBALLS vocalist that goes high but not screaming or falsetto, check out Steelheart. "I'll Never Let You Go, Can't Stop Me Lovin You, Sheila, She's Gone & Mama Don't You Cry" are songs of theirs you NEED to check out!!!!!

David's voice starts to have his rasp at certain high notes that I feel Dan's voice sounds more crisp. idk.... just what I felt. I've listened to Disturbed for so long. I love both of the covers. It would be cool to see Dan do a couple shows with Disturbed. Would be crazy! Dan even thows in a shout out to David at 4:37.... Dan matches Davids distorted note. Simply awesome.
He has a brilliant voice. I just think for me personally i love the Disturbed version slightly more, i have listened to Disturbed’s version about 50 times.
I know it is probably hard to choose what to listen next, without actually watching it, and not spoil our impression with you. I can recommend "fairy tale" latest one, as the song he goes absolutely insane, and almost rips himself in half for the delivery he strikes us with.
Very good, however I think Dan missed an opportunity to wail near the end to make it his own.
I don't think that Dan could have interpreted this song differently from Disturbed's. David Draiman and Dan are both heavy metal singers, so unless Dan completely had rearranged the way the song should be performed with his metal rendition, they would always sound the same.

Sorry, I did not finish my previous text. Continuing..........in vocal techniques, a whole new sound has emerged and it is beautiful and impactful. While I will always love the original artists, as this is their creation as songwriters, it is a whole new world of creativity and I embrace all excellence now and going forward. I've not heard this cover: but i have heard Disturbed version. Tho similar, this guy sang stronger and tougher for a longer part of the song where it felt appropriate.

Garfunkel had a best friend that would call him darkness because of being blind. So the first two lines of the song, “Hello darkness my old friend; I’ve come to talk to you again” is just referring to a relationship with his old friend from college.

Dan kicked Disturbed out of the water with his singing
This is the second time I’ve listened to Dan’s version. The first time through, it sounded like a mostly Dave Draiman cover. However, this time, I could hear parts that Dan made his own. Also, he doesn’t look scary like David did in the video version. 😊

I love this version and Geoff Castellucci's versions because they are very different but equally stunning. Dan has the same anger that Disturbed does, Geoff's version is more sombre melancholy

Awesome job, I must admit. He covered Disturbed perfectly, which is good, however, why try to sound exactly like someone else? I don't know. Anyway, I love Disturbs version & of course the original by Simon & Garfunkel. However, my favorite version is still by Pentatonix. It's like 3 different songs, all amazing.
