    I have the same car as your wife, with all the same issues. I’ve learned how to tell when another spark plug has gone prematurely but usually had to tow due to where I was at the moment. It happened in my driveway today so I decided to see if I could do it myself. Your video was SPOT ON ALL I NEEDED to do it myself. Thank you!!!!!

      I’m glad that the video helped! Is your engine under warranty when if it rod knocks front the excessive oil consumption?

    Panicked when I started my car and was stuttering crazy. Check engine light. Watched ur vid and changed plugs in less then 20 mins. Problem instantly fixed. Old plugs were gone. Like burnt white at the ends. Thanks so much bro💪🏾

      Mine just started doing this, this morning as well, its at around 97k.. did you notice any of the internal lights flickering? I'm hoping it is just the spark plugs as well.

    If you dont have the magnet socket a piece of hose works great , i like to use it to start it also less chance of crossthreading . Great in tight spot also . Good video about to do my wife's car . Man does that thing use the oil .

      My wife’s car makes it about 1000 miles now before the oil light comes on and the check engine light comes on from low oil pressure. We are just waiting for a audible knock so that Kia will replace the engine under the warranty/ recall.

    I have the same engine and mine burnt oil as well. What fixed my issue was by first spraying in valve cleaner into the intake manifold (engine will start to idle roughly and will blow some smoke, but it's normal) then use engine flush in the oil (let car run for a few minutes with that in there) then lastly I change the oil and put the 4-cylinder restore in the oil. After a couple oil changes doing this, the car should stop burning oil.
    I guess though if you can do the warranty then all the best, but mine had a salvaged title so I couldn't do that

      @DariusBuildz  Před 4 měsíci

      Since it is under warranty and I’m not going to do any preventative measures as I don’t want the dealer to find any reason to deny the claim.
      But this is good information for anyone who has one that is not under warranty

    If you do go through the process of getting the motor checked out, please document it. I'm going through the same issue with my kia

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I definitely plan on it. After 1,500 or so miles, the oil light comes on and I can hear the oil pump surging, so any day now I fully expect it to rod knock.

      @@DariusBuildz just finished the job. took about 30min!.. the only trouble i had was with the 5/8 magnet not letting go on the install, instead it would come off the extension. so i used 2 5/8, one magnetic for removing, and a regular one for install. job was smooth and quick with your guide !

    Hopefully you can give some advice on my situation, I have the same car and model and every summer for the past two years I have been having trouble with my AC cooling, I’ve read this could be due to the spark plugs. Is this true?
    The issue is the air will sometimes blow with no cold air at all, especially on really hot days. And even then it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t with it being cold. I’ve taken it to Rusty Eck Ford at least 5 times for the same problem under warranty and since they “couldn’t replicate the issue” while they had the pretty much said nothing we can do, now my full coverage warranty is up. Replaced a sensor, compressor, blower fan, etc and still have the issue. Car has about 76k miles on it, bought it with 20k miles on it.
    I’m sure the spark plugs need changing as I’ve had it for 4 years now and when it’s in park it stutters every so often when idling, hoping changing them will fix the ac issue too.

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  Před 2 měsíci

      Unfortunately, the spark plugs have nothing to do with the ac, and vice versa, as they are totally different systems that don’t rely on each other. Replacing the spark plugs may aid in your shutter that you are having, but that could also be an ignition coil issue if the problem persist after changing the spark plugs.
      For the ac, I am no expert, but normally not-so-cold ac is from a low level of Freon. You may have enough that the compressor clutch locks up, but not enough where it blows as cold as it should. I can’t guarantee that’s the issue, but that’s normally where I start if it’s blowing kinda cold, but not cold cold.

    Does anyone know the what the gap should be for a 2016 SX Optima? I got some iridium spark plugs that say they are pre gapped at 0.036 but one of the kia forums said 0.028. I got the NGK 92422.

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Iridium plugs are very efficient and that little difference in gap won’t make a difference. It’s also not recommended to gap them bc it can damage the center electrode.

    quick question, why didn’t you use anti seize on the plugs ?

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  Před 2 měsíci

      I’ve never in 25 years put antiseize on my spark plugs. Iron or aluminum heads.

    You ever had a problem with the car going into limp mode?

    • @DariusBuildz
      @DariusBuildz  Před 4 měsíci

      The only time this car has been into limp mode was when the low oil pressure safety kicked in around 99,000 miles. Only had 1 qt. We made Kia aware and it’s gonna be covered 100% for a new engine when it starts to knock.
