Today I want to cover the differences between Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2.
Vitamin K1:
âą Has everything to do with blood clotting and bone metabolism
âą If you're deficient, you may have bruising, you may have trouble with blood clotting, or you may have bleeding gums
âą Without vitamin K1, you could bleed to death
âą It's unlikely for someone to be deficient in vitamin K1
âą You get vitamin K1 primarily from plant sources, but it's in animal products as well
âą Vitamin K1 in plants is poorly absorbed, but the body recycles vitamin K1
âą Oil like olive oil, on a salad, for example, can help with the absorption of vitamin K1
âą Blood thinners like Warfarin can cause a deficiency in vitamin K1
Vitamin K2:
âą Has everything to do with calcium control and bone strength
âą It's primarily in animal products (like animal fat) and fermented foods (like natto and sauerkraut)
âą A few examples of foods rich in vitamin K1 are beef or pork liver, pork, chicken, beef, egg yolks, and soft cheeses
âą Vitamin K2 is much better absorbed than vitamin K1 because it comes with fat
âą The bacteria in your colon can make vitamin K1 from vitamin K2
âą You could become deficient if you're on a low-fat diet, you have inflammation in your gut, you had your gallbladder removed, or you have a fatty liver or a damaged liver

Thanks for watching! I hope this helps you better understand the difference between vitamin K1 and vitamin K2.
My husband was on warfarin after his stroke. You would be SHOCKED how many Dr have no idea about K1 and K2 - or the difference!
Itâs downright negligence.
Does K2 form blood clots like k1 , do you know ?
Something is working :) because when I dumped my Motocross Bike, the foot peg did 'major surgery' on my leg down to the bone and the blood clotted and covered up the injury so fast, that it never had time to run down my leg. The leg had a mild yellow bruise for about 2 weeks. If this would've happened in my 30's, I'm pretty sure that 1. my bone would've been broken, 2. the bleeding would've taken minutes to stop and 3. my leg would've been black, blue and rainbow colored for months. Thank You for everything you do
I never knew about vitamin K2 until I started listening to you. Now, I eat more meat and eggs and take K2-MK7.
Along with meat and eggs do you also consume k2 supplements?
@@keshavduttaa Yes, K2-MK7 supplements from Now.
@@alyb8058 Yes, I get out in the sun an hour per day, and take Now brand vitamin D3.
@@lawdogwales5921 I've heard that one should consume magnesium along with this to avoid calcification.
@Lawdog Wales me too, I learn't about K2 from Dr. Berg after I started keto and after taking more vitD which increases the absorption of calcium, so yeah besides eating cleaner I supplement with K2 too.
HAPPY NEW YEAR Dr Berg

Dr. Berg got my sub years ago because he breaks down nutrition into detailed pieces that make each video meaningful thus a rich channel. I also agree with the body requiring both plant and animal sources for optimal health. Thank you and continue churning out enlightenment.
I swear, from day 1 that I strtd keto, if I had ANY issue in transition I'd just type it in and BAM Dr. Berg had a video for any issue. It was so helpful because everything he recommended was SPOT ON.

Great episode for a new year
â€ïž Amazing video and amazing man, thank you soo much doctor â€ïž
Happy New Year everyone!!! A special thanks to Dr. Berg for another great year gone by. God bless you.
Your videos are soooo helpful! Tks a lot
I actually thought you did have a vid that explained the difference. I could've sworn I'd watched it.
Dr. Berg I have been following you for about 4 years now. And you keep making amazing videos, please don't stop! I love you to pieces. Could you please make a video on extremely heavy menstrual cycles that is connected to fibroids, estrogen dominance and nearing the end of perimenopause? I have been suffering from debilitating high blood pressure and anxiety attacks only when I'm on my period. And if you could also explain why some women have start stop start stop bleeding. As an example I am on day 8 today and I just passed three blood clots and started bleeding a little bit again after two days of just spotting pink. Thank you very much đ đ xoxo
Iâve been on warfarin now for three years due to an aortic valve replacement surgery that I had in 2017. I eat a large leafy green salad every day. The most important thing is to stay consistent with the K1 consumption. My INR stays very stable. I also take K2 supplement daily 200 mg.
Vitamin K2 and Warfarin? Is that safe.
Exactly what I need to start out 2021...a Dr. Berg's video! Thank you Dr. Berg!
Anytime.
This is such good information!
Happy new year Dr Berg đč
Hello from Lakeland FL and happy 2021
Such great info once again!
Thanks for watching!
I'm glad you clarified that we can make K2 from K1 and not the other way around. K2-4, and only K2-4, is also a fundamental brain nutrient, taking the place of CoQ10 in some neurons. I discovered it on my own when I repaired my ability to learn new music (I was semi-pro musician). After trying K2-4 on and off for a month, noting the effects each time, we wrote to Life Extension Foundation and they phoned usÄș back. They had known about the memory effect for 3 years by that time (2015). A year later, NIH came out with the reason that K2-4 was a brain nutrient .
Incidentally there is at least one CZcams doctor who says K2-4 is made from K2-7 in our bodies. I am living proof that it's not true, as I was taking plenty of K2-7, and it did absolutely nothing for my brain fog right in the center of my head, or my ailing short-term memory.
Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Maybe that's why these guys are going on a shooting rampage they're not getting their K vitamins!
3:38 He said just the opposite, make K1 from K2. Then at 3:50 he said K2 from K1. Hard to trust one when they can't keep their own info straight.
i googled "k2-4" and found no results. do u mean menaquinone-4?
how much of it do u take?
â@@datsuntoyy He pointed bacteria converts K2 to K1. So that's prob what he really meant. So something like a probiotic supplement.
HAPPY NEW YEAR đ 2021

Hi Dc Burg, the hospital prescribed Alendronic acid tablets and a calcium +D3 tablet to suck. I donât like the idea of not letting my bones do what is natural.I stopped taking them and bought D3+K2 tablets , my question is , have I done the right thing. Thank you.
Thanks, as always great info. Does anyone know a good source of non GMO natto? I'm eating a lot of homemade, homegrown from nutrient dense soil, saeurkraut.

Hello Dr Berg thanks for another great video. I have a question that I need your thoughts on. Have you ever heard of Activatedyou morning complete dietary supplement? Can you please research and give your opinion? Or perhaps you could do a video on this product. Thank you.
Happy new year Dr. Berg and to everyone! âšđđđđ
How does it work when someone is on statins and they have Atherosclerosis? What is recommendable, Vit K1 or Vit K2? And then: together with Selenium or what else would you recommend to decalcify veins and to make veins more "elastic" for a lack of a better word?
What about sublingual D/K? Won't that bypass the gut absorption issues? Same for B12 sublingual?
Most of us drink when we eat... sometimes water, sometimes wine etc. Is drinking liquids a good or bad idea when eating? Should we drink before or after meals/ Maybe liquid dilutes stomach acid? Please tell us Dr Berg.
Thank You Dr Berg!
You are very welcome.
Thanks again for sharing

My mom takes Xarelto for blood thinner. Can she take D3 with K2 MK7? Or she should take the D3 without K2?
Dr. Berg, will taking a vit K2 supplement result in raised levels of vit K1?
What is the best supplement for Vitamin K1? I suffer from malabsorption and I am having prolonged PTT.
I am on Eliquis 2.5mg & Plavix, both are blood thinners, can i take k2, as it helps in clotting but i need to thin out my blood.
Pls help
Sorry, but anybody know, whether I can take Vitamin K2 without having to worry about increased risk of blood clotting?
Fyi. I had PCI procedure 2 years ago (2 stents), and now taking Clopidogrel 75 mg on daily basis.
Thank you very much for your attention.đđ
Happy New year đ âš

I am keto diet at two years ago. And user for warfaren. During keto decrease rashio (inr) when don't eat vegetables high contain vit k1.
K2 it effects on warfaren or not??
Thak you doctor.
So I would love to take K2 but I have a blood clotting disorder - Factor V Leiden - my hematologist said to not take K1 or K2 supplements?? In your opinion Dr Berg, can I take a K2 mk7 supplement?!
Thank you for this comparison. I am vegan, trying to be vegan keto. It's hard!
But I don't agree with you about the need or necessity of animal products. I feel so much better after completely eliminating animal products.
Thank you for including plant sources. Found natto online. Also found suggestions on how to prepare/consume it.
I'm fighting Stage 4 breast cancer.
I include TUDCA in my daily regimen for liver health.
I eat a lot of raw, organic sauerkraut and kimchi.
I strive to get fats from plant sources. I eat a lot of avocado, walnuts, pecans, and olives, as well as other nuts and seeds.
I take about 3,400 D3 daily.
I hope I'm not missing anything as far as how to best utilize calcium via K2, and get other K2 benefits.
Happy New Year. Thank you. I have a question Iâm taking a supplement of D3 & K2 and was told that the K2 was bad for my heart, is that true. Iâm a type 2 and Copd am I harming myself? I thought that you did a teaching on taking 20000 international units of D3 to strengthen my lungs. Am I doing the right thing. Iâm so confused thank you and God Bless you and yours

Vitamin k2 made my face ugly and wide and my jaw going more inward. I had a lower jaw extension surgery years ago because I had a huge overbite. It made my cheekbones wider, is there any way to reverse this? I use 1 mg vitamin k2 mk4 a day.
What about k2 pills? Will they strain the liver? And how much eggs yolks is enough or fat or sourcrout?

Erick, how i can identify if im pork alergen
Help me understand something, did he said you can make vitamin K one from vitamin K2 if you have the bacteria in your micro biome then turn around he said you can make vitamin K two from K one. Is that what he said? Can anyone clarify for me?

Does anyone know what the screen Dr. Berg writes on? A large lightbox maybe? Any help would be much appreciated! Another great video by the way.
I think Microsoft came out with one of those big screen devices a few years ago. Not really sure what Dr. Berg is using. Looks interesting now that you bring it up.
Looks like a 'dry erase board ' it uses special markers
@@kevbrown2589 Thank you, I will check that out.
