    I can see why these are so popular in high security applications (e.g. many apartment towers in the UK use these locks on utility rooms/plant rooms/roof access/etc to keep people from getting in). Not only are these pick resistant but you wouldn't be getting in via a physical attack either unless you had a fairly beefy angle grinder or something like that.

      For sure, even though it’s pickable you have to do the same thing 16 times to get it from completely locked to open. There’s a decoding tool available that would make it much quicker, but I think it’s expensive and not very common. This is a lock I would definitely trust if I needed to keep something safe.

      Those are really popular in Poland, almost every flat I lived in had one

    Awesome job, that looked pretty challenging.

      Thanks, the big hassle was that the spools wanted to drop a bunch of pins that had previously been set, which also makes it hard to tell if the spool was overset.

    Excellent pick 👌Your reaction at the end tells us all about what you had to face. Congratulations

      I had a lot of problems with the spools dropping other pins, and I think on prior attempts I just gave up too early. Thanks!
      How do you think it compares to the Gerda 6000 you picked?

      @@marklevinson1980 I do not. I have the Multipick tools for when I need refined tools. I like to keep these as they are, with square corners and large flags, for when I need the most stiffness or leverage. And I have another set of Chinese picks for something between those other two.
      Does that answer your question? The translation might be imperfect.

    NICE! Fantastic open! Very interesting lock as well.

      Thanks, it’s definitely one that would keep a picker out for a while, just because you need to pick it something like 16 times to get the bolts to move all of the way from one side to the other. There’s a decoding tool out there, though… haha

      @DoctorHogmaster  Před 2 lety

      And I’m very glad for both the tensioner, and your prior video (as will be it’s next victims)! Possibly the most important bit being where you mention “fairly stout tension” or something along those lines, near the beginning. That made a world of difference, what with how easy it is to overset and how dull the feedback is when you use lighter tension.

    Dear Author, did I hear correctly, that You admitted You cant make a full turn? I am asking, because afaik Tytan needs to be picked 4 times for a full turn and thus becoming opened😉 (unless it is not double-turn closed😆). The lock is surely demanding and I do not want negate all the work you have put in trying to open it with no key, however I cant help thinking that word "picked" is at least just a bit of overstatment in this case. Ofc I understand, that if lock needs to be picked multiple times and You successfullu completed it at least once, rest would be matter of time, on the other hand though, given how long it took You to accomplish it once - great job, I do not intend to deny that, but again, somehow an oversimplification🤔😉

    • @DoctorHogmaster
      @DoctorHogmaster  Před 2 lety +5

      Hi, my point was simply to demonstrate that I could, not to demonstrate the full opening. In addition to taking 4 times to make a full turn, it takes 4 full turns to fully move the bolt from its locked position. So really, a full unlocking would take picking it 16 times. This would take me hours to do, and would make a very very long and boring video. I understand your point, though. I suppose I could have said “partially picked”, but I’m not sure how much clarity that would add.
      Thanks for the comment, and for watching!

      @@DoctorHogmaster ok, it was 16 times, thats even worse😁 I do understand main idea behind whole video, and it somehow all comes to how would we exactly define "picked"😉 I am also quite astonished with Your performance on this lock😉 however, just to make myself clear, my comment was to only provide full awarness of whats going on there, and that (again, great!) performance of Yours in theroretical real-time environment is worth almost nothing, I am really glad You understand that😉 I can agree, that if sth is done once, it can be repeated, however this is true up to some a point - surely doesnt apply to activity that takes 20min and needs to be repeated 15 consecutive times (not to mention pain in figers etc that would prolong each and every repetition) - that being said, I think that term "possible", although right, is quite abstract😁 I fully agree that it shall be quite "unwatchable" if You decided to record fully-picking this lock; that however, in my opinion, could be further stressed at the end, as that fact itself is also a statement how good this lock is😉
      As said before - great job nonetheless, I wasnt actually aware that it is pickable at all (I didnt quite investigate the subject in a while either😁) without a special, very pricy decoder😉

      @@zeratul074 sorry for the necro. Generally in the picking community, we pick these locks one position...but we do get a lot of blowback from those that aren't into the hobby. As a result, I ended up making a long (and boring) full 360 pick of this lock which really added nothing from a picking perspective beyond the example here of it being picked a single position..

    • @zeratul074
      @zeratul074 Před rokem

      @@norlin76 wow, I didnt remember posting that comment, quite a bit ago that was...😁
      Nevertheless, I hope I made myself clear in original comment - I was not trying to prove it wasn't picked at all, neither my intention was to depreciate that achievement. I was only gently pointing at fact of using probably not most accurate terms to describe video😉
      Furthermore, as I said before, I agree - if its picked 1/4 turn, it may be picked further so it technically is picked. However You probably will agree, that in theoretical real time environment, if You were to open that lock completely, it would be more challenging, given how long it takes and due to among others tiredness of Your fingers😉

    There are no locks that couldn't be opened, just a question of time and tools. But this one lasts for 25 minutes, so i think we can consider it safe?

    • @DoctorHogmaster
      @DoctorHogmaster  Před 7 měsíci

      There’s a special tool that I think makes much quicker work of these, but still, it’s probably one of the best locks out there for keeping covert intruders out.
