Just to avoid further confusion, at 12:46 I say that the whole Maelstrom thing is because they ripped Y'sjaarh out of the planet. What I meant was ripping him out lead to the well of eternity which eventually lead to the Maelstrom. Still...was a ton of fun to talk some lore!

To be fair to Sylvanas, she is probably the most experienced leader the Horde has ever had. She has been Ranger General of Silvermoon for a very long time since High Elves live for a very long time, longer than most of the Horde's members were even alive. She's fought against Trolls, the Scourge, and the Legion all before even joining the Horde.
Yes, she is very popular with a lot of people, but from a story perspective, she is leagues above Baine, Lor'themar, Ji Firepaw, and Gallywix, simply in terms of leadership experience and combat experience. Saying that Saurfang (who I do love) should be Warchief instead is also a bit of a form of fanboy-ism, since that would be forgetting that he is still well into retirement age and his lack of political pull within the Horde; hard to say one successful General is politically equivalent to one of the more powerful faction leaders.
I never found an honest and reasonable opinion about why Sylvanas can't be warchief. All of these people always complain about her, for being a woman, for being a banshee, for all the shit she has done - which is a fair thing to worry about - she IS the most experienced leader.
I'm currently not questioning her being warchief, I'll wait until the end of legion to decide whether her being made warchief was a requirement or even a good decision. Honestly though, I don't think any of the current horde leaders would work as warchief. They'd have been better off with a council of three hammers sort of thing in my opinion.
The other races of the horde,except maybe the Blood elves, haven't exactly trusted the forsaken, and the forsaken tend to act for their own needs rather than for the horde as a whole. If your looking for a stable leader and faction, you usually want someone who's trusted by more than just their own people. Garrosh had similar beginnings. It is true she has the most experience as a General, and against the legion, she technically worked with the legion for a while to try and stop Arthas as well though, but she could have easily been a war advisor rather than made leader of the whole faction. The horde doesn't work as diplomatically as Thrall made it seem, it depends on the leader, you can ignore the council of the other leaders, like Garrosh did, because in the end the warchiefs word is law for the horde.

Sylvanas is pretty morally dark, arguably more than Garrosh was, definitely more than when he began as warchief anyway, But as their currently in a war no one would be able to rebel if she started doing some shady stuff as their enemy is the legion, rebelling would be pointless and suicidal. She's already using the plague on the broken isles, she allied with Helya and attempted to usurp the Val'kyr queen to gain control of all of them until Genn stopped her, which would have been a pretty serious blow to the Valajar who are tasked with defending Azeroth by Odyn. Not to mention she'd be helping Helya take down Odyn as well in the process. She's still in a pretty desperate state where she wants to avoid death all costs so she doesn't suffer the same fate Arthas does.
So currently, her plans to extend her insurance on life with more Val'kyr failed, since she witnessed what awaits her in death she's been pretty adament about not experiencing that, and she seems fine with whatever method helps achieve her goals. To be honest, she seems like the perfect candidate for some legion temptation. From a story perspective she seems like she's set up to fail, not lead the horde to glory.
I just think it's strange (and stupid) that they killed off Vol'jin. Which is a different issue altogether, I know.
I just don't like Sylvanas because of what happened at Wrath Gate even if it wasn't her fault she still continued the production of the plague. Her blatant disregard for her warchief's orders during the Undead leveling. She uses very fucked up methods raising the dead to fight again. I know Thrall has a kid. Maybe... Just maybe... The kid will be an Anduin in a few expansions.

You two should do more of these informal lore sessions. Just talking about the lore more like a conversation and less of a book is actually a pretty good way for me to retain all this info. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Great video, it answered a lot of questions that I had. There is so much of the lore that I don't know about.
Only me watching after 7.2 release and realize that Nobbel is a god? He predicted so much correctly in the video.
I can watch any number of lore videos on a topic, but if Nobbel has a video on the same topic, I will watch the Nobbel video for 2 reasons. First and most important, Nobbel generally has the best explanations (accurate, well supported, and easy to understand). Secondly, Nobbel's voice has a trance-like effect that makes the videos even more interesting.
I cried my eyes out when I saw the Ysera cutscene. Literally :( This is a great vid, cleaned while listening to it!
This was a fantastic way to spend breaks at work. I only recently discovered Nobel's channel having started playing WoW again. Great idea, really enjoyable.
10:40, the whole "sending out Old Gods to infect planets" kinda reminds me of the plot of the Metroid Prime games, except instead of Phazon it is Chaos.
Final raid of Legion: Using the DH class hall to port to the Exodar, defending the Exodar against demons, then landing on Argus killing Kil'Jaeden. Calling it right now.
The title made me think of an older channel called the Smoking Gamer with Jessie's old friend Pride runs and he used to have a thing called Lore for Noobs.

I feel like the choice of Sylvanas as Warchief is going to be similar tactics with Ner'Zhul in the original Outland. She was put into power by the "spirits" who conveniently started talking to Vol'jin like Ner'zhul's dead started talking to him. But it actually ended up being the Legion manipulating them from behind the guise of their loved ones.

I think I might know Helya's resaon for helping Sylvanas.
Helya hates Odyn and wants revenge, and she has her army, the Helajar and wants to use them to attack Odyn. However, because Odyn too has his army, the Valajar, she stand no chance against him. But if she can remove the source of his army, the Val'kyr, and claim all the dead Vrykul for herself, she can bolster her own army and eventually, attack the Halls of Valor and take down Odyn.
Not sure what else they are plannng.

I'm honestly not sure if the whole "retconning" thing with Illidan is actually Blizzard changing the Lore, but it's more like that we're seeing the past though Illidan's perspective. Of course Illidan will think of the things he did differently than someone else did.

So Wrathion foresaw the coming of the Legion, thus he devised a plan to send Garrosh back to old Draenor to form a new, uncorrupted Horde that would wipe out the Alliance and Horde on Azeroth and thus unite the planet before the coming war.
But in doing so, he opened the way for the Legion to send alternate-universe Gul'Dan to our Azeroth and open the way for them at the Tomb of Sargeras, starting the exact same war that Wrathion was trying to save us from.
In conclusion, Wrathion's misjudgment actually sparked the very crisis that he wanted to save Azeroth from.
Either he has been compromised, or he did indeed foresee the coming of the Legion, but he didn't realize *how* they were going to invade, only that they would do so eventually. We know he observed our quest on Draenor as he appears briefly during the Legendary quest, sitting outside of Khadgar's tower and just watching, flying away when we approach. So I'm guessing he's probably quite ashamed of himself right now, knowing that is mistake is what caused this war, or at least sped it up considerably. If he had never hatched the insane plan to forge a new horde of pure orcs then the Legion wouldn't have had a second Gul'Dan to do their bidding. He owes us big time.

I hope we get more development on the Tauren mythology as we learn more about Elune and An'she.
Honestly we should assume this is the last expansion, however we should think that this expansion should have the largest amount of added content in the form of patches. I would think of our assault on Argus being another added zone similar to Suramar, which sets up the final raids. Suramar shows they can add entirely new zones without the need to have it be a leveling specific zone.
I wish there was 5 more hours of crendor with nobbel. >_>

18:46, I think the vision velen had was of Turalyon, who is confirmed to be leading the army of the light, and they have multiple commanders so its likely Illidan will end up as some champion/subcommander. Turalyon might very well bite the dust though.
We're most likely killing Kil'Jaeden this expansion, everything points to us being needed on Argus right now or Turalyon and his army will loose.
