      Most of the Horde are disgusted by Sylvanas' action, the Forsaken fanboys cheer for the Banshee Queen, and Crendor is just a goblin who wants to blow shit up himself.

      Because most o the horde is only watching the cut scenes, which as this video points out, is a piss poor representation of what is happening.

      @@stormstrider1990 Why the War of thorns happened and the horde strategy along with why Sylvannas had to burn the tree is all well documented in the books. If people like you are too slow to understand it then its your problem really. Dont include us in you delusional vision of the story.

    In Shadows of the Horde, Bwamsandi seemed to really like when Vul'Jin "sent souls to him". Is it possible Bwamsandi wants Sylvannas as Warchiefs to rapidly boost the rate of death, and whispered it to Vul'Jin?

    • @Lokiisays
      @Lokiisays Před 6 lety +1

      Bwonsamdi only gets Troll souls that follow him as a Loa [Aka Darkspear Trolls] So he wouldn't get any of the souls from any other races. With Sylvanas raising them to be undead, she destroys the souls by doing so, so if she rose any trolls against their will, Bwonsamdi doesn't get any of those souls.

    • @MrGreensweightHist
      @MrGreensweightHist Před 6 lety

      Jyn is right.
      He isn't saying "Kill people and send them to me"
      He is saying, "Honor me with your deaths in battle"
      And the Loa always played straight with Vol'jin.
      more likely they know the void is encroaching (Aleria) and the undead are resistant.

    That tree had to have been burned down from the inside. Years and years of sea spray would have created a salt crust Armor. That and the high humidity, the waves and sea spray would have made it very unlikely that it could have been burned down from the outside. Therefore the real fire had to been started from the inside. So just how did it happen? It was Nomi’s fault. He was giving a cooking demonstration in Darmassus at the time. As we all know from bitter experience he burns everything!

    A list of towns/cities lost to the other faction (so not due to the Cataclysm/other forces, just to the other faction) over World of Warcraft's timeline. So far I have:
    Horde:
    - Camp Taurajo
    - Undercity (soon)
    - Brill (soon)
    - Silverpine Forest (or at least parts of it)
    Alliance:
    - Gilneas (could argue it's not technically Alliance territory at the time it fell, to be fair and apparently get it back in BFA)
    - Theramore
    - South Shore/Hillsbrad Field
    - Darnassus
    - Lor'Danel (Darkshore's last real town really)
    - everything in Ashenvale (Astranaar, Forest Song, Maestra's Post, etc)
    - Pyrewood (as Sylvanas went after Gilneas)
    - Bael Modan
    - Andorhal (at least, the Alliance portion they had as they and the Foresaken worked to drive out the Scourge and then, later, the Foresaken drove out the Alliance, might not count this, it's debatable).
    As someone that plays both side, but prefers Alliance, it's disheartening how much Alliance loses in the game/lore. Any development our faction might get is also relegated to books, never in game. Blizzcon used to be called "Hordecon" by many for a good reason. For 14 years I've played this game. For 14 years we're told Alliance are getting things coming. For 14 years we get nothing.
    The latest cinematics are awesome, but we get nothing for the NE that have just suffered so horribly. We get nothign emotionally from an Alliance perspective. And, because this was made for the Chinese event, we're likely not getting one for the Aliance.
    I'm so tired of this. I'm tired of being the faction that is always reacting to Horde. I'm tired of development resources being focused on Horde first (this cinematic which is special to Horde and the fact that they admitted they develop Horde story/areas/questing first and then Alliance after if there's time, which would explain why we're always reacting to what the Horde do). I'm tired of suffering loss after loss and the Horde never really suffer themselves. They pay no reperations, they make no amends....
    This is just disappointing. To those that might go "But Legion was so Alliance focused" I say:
    Legion was NOT an Alliance expansion. Yes, Alliance heroes were involved, but they had thousands of years of beef with the Legion. All of them. That was more about that than having to be there on any behalf or on any orders or in any favor solely for the Alliance.
    I DO agree that Horde got shafted in Legion, though. There should have been Orc and Blood Elf heroes and armies more involved in the story since, well, those races have huge beef with the Legion too. That was a HUGE failure on Blizzard's writing to not develop more for that.
    But, the lack of Horde doesn't mean it was an Alliance expansion/story either.
    Be nice if Alliance got something for once though. We know the Horde culture, we know Horde's many rallying cries, we know how much Horde pride there is. Tell me this now, what is the Alliance culture (not the players, the game's Alliance culture)? What is the Alliance's rallynig cries? Where is the pride for the Alliance and why would there be? Hell, how do the Alliance races even feel about each other? We know how Horde races think about each other (some honor/like each others, some want little to do with the others and only outta necessity, etc).
    I'm tired of this. You could remove Alliance from the game entirely and there'd still be many interesting stories to tell with just the Horde. Remove Horde from the game and Alliance would be sitting on their butts until we finally have some external threat come to them.
    Blizzard needs to fix their writing heavily for both factions, but they actually need to HAVE writing for the Alliance for once.
    All this being said, I am enjoying the story mostly and invested even if I'm sick of Blizzard cutting so much story to things OUTSIDE the game.

      I'm a Hordie, and the reason why I am one is this very problem. The Alliance just aren't... interesting enough for me to get invested, and it pisses me off. I want to be equally fond of both factions, but can't. There's stuff written about Horde culture behind every crack and stone. It took me a while to realize why the Alliance just never appealed to me. They aren't written the same way the Horde are. The Horde are so incredibly detailed it feels like a living, breathing thing. You get information on customs, traditions, practices, internal conflicts, political setup, legends, the whole 9 yards. Meanwhile the Alliance are written as generic Mary Sue, do-nothing-wrong, blue is true, follow the Light good guys. It really is frustrating. I WANT to be interested in the Alliance, but the lack of detailed writing is preventing me from doing that.

    • @Beatrixacs300
      @Beatrixacs300 Před 6 lety +2

      Raven Brown The only way it would make sense is that the Old Gods wanted to make Sylvanas Warchief so we could kill her and get her out of their way because the Void fears her and considers her as very dangerous as stated in Three Sisters comic.

    • @Rawnblade13
      @Rawnblade13 Před 6 lety

      That's exactly the reason. Think about it, making her Warchief is genius if you want her out of the way. Either she's killed by the Alliance for her atrocities, killed by the Horde, or even if she's not killed at all, the ensuing faction war makes sure she's weakened and most of her resources are spent trying to fight the Alliance. Not to mention a faction war divides the Heroes of Azeroth (us) up along faction lines and weakens the people who have been responsible for stopping the Old Gods in the past.
      It's a great plan.

Maybe have the next expansion reveal they used the Val'kyr and that vision of hell to influence Sylvanas into starting the war to weaken and destract both factions and their champions, who have already proved they can fight and defeat Old Gods, while trying to exploit the wound to the world soul and the azerite to try and corrupt it again in the background and we have to stop them before it's too late? That would be a really cool expansion I think. I'd play cosmic horror WOW.

    Also, could it be argued, kajamite is the depleted, scab like variant of Azerite. Blood of azeroth, scabbed over and dried out. But at it's root being azerite. Such a thing could very well make the genius, albeit a mischievous genius, of goblins. That murmur of power leftover from kajamite, as it was once Azerite.

    Nobbel, I do hope you'll make a video putting the entire War of Thorns into proper context, so that in a couple months, years, or even now, we can refer people to a video that helps them better understand all of the important things that didn't take place in game.
    As for Elegy, I loved it. They did a wonderful job of describing the state of alarm and confusion upon learning the Horde's attack, to the determination to -win- survive long enough to evacuate teldrassil, and the fear of Horde's occupation there. The tragedies, the unceremonious deaths of certain characters and the gory, grisly, morbid descriptions of the civilians burning in Teldrassil _(At some point it went so far as to describe a mother holding a child who's skin was sloughing off from burn wounds. How the statue in the Temple of Elune crumbled and crushed several people, muddying the once tranquil garden with the blood of innocents)._ The heartbreak of everything lost, and the general, over-arching, sinking feeling that the war was already lost before it begun.
    Our in-game quests should've started at the beginning of the war. The War of Thorns should've begun 1 or 2 weeks earlier than it did with atleast one extra chapter. In this chapter the Alliance should've quested alongside Delaryn through the war of attrition in ashenvale and the struggling ordeal to hold off the Horde through all our desperate guerilla tactics. The novellites describe the passage of days, _weeks_ even, of continuous battle, with little sleep or food as all of the conflict in Ashenvale occurs. It should've felt oppressive and difficult for us. Horde should've started with their march across the Barrens, retaking their old holds on Ashenvale as they marched through. They should've felt surrounded on all sides as their numbers fell to guerilla tactics and the sheer ferocity of night elves.
    I almost wish that, sometime into BfA, they would recreate War of Thorns (or atleast the Ashenvale part of it) as a 5-man Caverns of Time heroic dungeon in order to better reframe everything in-game.

    @foist101 Před 6 lety +3

    The release of Elegy and A Good War in .PDF has gotten me really excited for BfA, as the more we've learned the more complex it has become. I feel like this shifting of allegiances all over the place has been part of the plan all along, I just wish it wasn't so spread out over a bunch of different mediums that people will never see. From a Horde perspective we were annoyed, scared it was just another sacrificing a storied and historic character to the "well we need a big bad" altar, then we saw the misgivings of an old Horde hero and thought it was going to be mak'gara, now with A Good War we see Saurfang, while upset about the situation, understands why things went the way they did and commends his Warchief for seeing things he did not.
    Someone that misses any of these successive points will be forming a conclusion that might not be the whole picture, and that's fun and all, but I wish more of it was in game since there are people threatening to quit/quitting because they missed crucial information that lends to a great story.
    This isn't going to go away with a raid boss encounter with Sylvanas, where everyone gets together to skip off into the sunset holding hands in feel-good happy go lucky land. This is going to be a war, a real one, and I'm glad.

    I have nothing wrong with an aggressive Warchief. I don't even care if she's cruel and pragmatic. The reason she'll never be another Garrosh is because she's not a dumb asshole bossing me around, she's a tactical genius that earned my respect a thousand times over.

    I'd like to see the horde get a new leadership position. Have the warchief, who has authority in war, and a "peacechief" or something who has authority in peace and diplomacy. A sort of counterbalance to avoid another bad or controversial warchief like Garrosh or Sylvanas from taking unilateral action that goes against the ideals of the horde again or something.
    I hope that Old Gods and val'kyr hypothesizing does end up going somewhere. I'd play cosmic horror WOW.

    clearly azerite is the blood of azeroth corrupted by c'thun. This is a temptation scenario. each of the leaders will face temptation...sylvanas has given into that tempation, and so, likely will greymane. Anduin will eventually realise what is happening as will saurfang and the other leaders of the horde. Azerite amplifies the whispers of the old gods.

    18:00 The horde should just do as the dwarves and make a council of all the races, not pick warchiefs, because Blizzards keep changing them for no fucking reason, it also makes fucking sense after Garrosh being Hitler and Sylvanas being a bitch
    On the other hand the Alliance, in 14 years only lost *ONE* fucking king
    38:20 No redeem story for her please... She is an undead, she has been evil since day one, it's not like "Oh, now she is evil" No no, she has been doing terrible things since Vanilla and all of it has been willingly
    I dont want her to die like a warchief, I want her to *LEAVE* the horde and make her own faction with the forsaken while Nathanos, who I hope has a limit and finally says "Ok, fuck you Sylvanas, you are too crazy" ends up being the new racial leader for the undead

    • @PaSa7887
      @PaSa7887 Před 6 lety

      That doesn't seem to be the case with the books I've read. Instead, it seems like the books are used as a means to retcon older games in the service of current stories. For example, the book "Arthas" added a ton of details to Arthas' backstory that weren't in WC3 but that were alluded to in WotLK. Also "Illidan" basically recontextualized the story of Burning Crusade in order to set up Legion. It seems like Blizzard's priorities align more with newer material > old material as opposed to games > books.

    Is there a possibility that people in Blizzard don't know how to make a good and unexpected story at the same time because there are so many people out there making theories about lore? May sound like dumb idea because they surely are able to surprise their fans, they did it with Sargeras at the end of Argus for an instance, but don't they *NOT* want to make a narrative based on someone else's theory?

    18:12 "And for those that are saying it wasn't genocide, like the collector's edition literally calls it genocide"
    That only means whoever wrote the Collector's edition doesn't know what the word genocide means either.
    Genocide is attempting to exterminate and entire race.
    If anyone can point out at any point where any horde character in cut-scene, or literature, has called for the complete extermination of the Nightelves as part of this, THEN you will have a point of it being genocide.
    This was not genocide, it was a strategic strike on a military target....period.
    A ruthless one? Absolutely, but not genocidal.
    Of the current racial leaders only one has ever called for genocide.
    That is Greymane, and he has done so twice....Once against the Orcs, and once against the Forsaken.

    The problem is that the narrative in the game is completely barebones. It's unfair to compare the amount of story a book can tell compared to a game, but we barely got anything in the game and what little we got explained so little that it has ruined all enthusiasm for the expansion for many Horde and Alliance players alike. I think I've seen daily quests in the Timeless Isle that explained what was going on better than any of the quests or cinematics in Darkshore.
