Two Horses Which Ran Amok In London ‘In Serious Condition’ | “Something Very Small Can Set Them Off”

- Two military horses seriously injured after running loose through London on Wednesday have undergone operations, the Army has said.
It comes after defence minister James Cartlidge said the animals were in a “serious condition” on Thursday morning.
Four of the animals who broke loose have now been named: Vida, Trojan, Quaker and Tennyson.
Vida was the grey horse seen in videos and images from Wednesday covered in blood galloping through central London, alongside black horse Quaker.
In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, the Army said one of those operated on had been taken to an equine hospital.
A group of seven horses and six soldiers from the Household Cavalry were on an extended exercise in Belgravia on Wednesday when they were spooked by builders moving rubble.
Four service personnel were thrown from their horses and five of the animals got loose, smashing into vehicles and causing a number of injuries.

Didn't appear terrified as they cantered on by, just off for a freedom jog. What hurt my heart was the blacks hoof caught in a loose stirrup.
I sincerely hope that Vida the grey horse pulls through alongside and with Quaker the black horse. 😢😢 those injuries, the massive cut on the right shoulder towards its chest.. 😢😢 utterly heartbreaking 🙏🙏🙏

Well well well. What can I say? They have no clue about what happened. If they'd listened to the press release from the army, they'd hear that a large amount of rubble was dropped from a height at a construction site, RIGHT NEXT TO THESE HORSES! That in itself will cause the most bombproof of horses to spook! The construction workers need to be questioned by the police as to why they decided to do that, as it's a very disgusting thing to do. There's no way they couldn't have known those horses weren't there.

I have to say, I was horrified when I saw the horses run into the bus and seeing the state of the bus afterwards, I had deep concerns for the horses welfare.
This was a very unfortunate set of events for both humans and animals.
Made my heart run for good old LT Red, which the horses mayt have seen.
Hope the two horses that were seriously injured are still able to make good enough recovery. It seems like perhaps their time now Baracks has come to an end and it’s time to return to the countryside.
These creatures need lots of care and attention. They can’t merely be returned to the countryside

Horses and dogs don't choose to be used by military or police forces, it is exceptionally sad when anything happens to them. While some comments online have been lacking any care towards the horses I've been warmed to see so many across our nation expressing concern for them 💜
These horses do. If they dont want to work, they get replaced with a horse that does.

Do you work with these horses I bet not as if you did you would know how well they are treated and well looked after and that if the horse wasn’t 100% it would not go out on duty another horse will take its place. The reason this happened was because of builders dropping lots of big heavy gravel from height right next to the Soldiers and Horses which caused a huge loud bang which would make any horse spook and bolt. Sorry but for me this was builders fault as they must of seen the horses going past them before they dropped all the heavy rubble but as usual that information is swept under the carpet and to try make the Military/Guardsman/Horse rider look bad which it wasn’t their fault.
@@Jib230181 Come on now. While I love horses and have been looking for updates on them because the horses aren't at fault- neither are the builders. The general public isn't expected to know or understand horse behaviour, the builders were being paid to work, and there's absolutely no law against them doing construction while the horses are passing by. Trying to blame the construction workers isn't fair or right. It's a freak accident, partly caused by the very nature of horses in a very alien environment for them.

So you think horses should just stand in a field all day eating grass? I know horses who ARE left to do that and believe me, the ones in the horse guards are MUCH better looked after!

Unbelievable that none of the channels have provided any factual information, leaving much still missing about this incident, after this length of time. My guess is the 2 horses will not be spared & we will never learn the extent of their injuries or the real truth of what actually happened. How were the horses able to escape from such a huge exhibition with so many presumed expert horsemen, security etc; Typical mainstream poor reporting & typical British embarressment cover up.

So sorry this has happened.i know they are trained. They do a brilliant job most of the time. I used to be a delivery driver in Devon . Driving around lanes and come across riders out on their horses . I always kept back very slowly behind I know it takes hardly anything sometimes to spook a horse. They could do a lot of damage . They are large animals .

What none of the media are reporting is the horse was ALREADY bleeding when it escaped those weirdo Royal family guards and was spotted on Buckingham Palace Rd. A witness to the start of the horses spooking said some builders dropped 'a load of building materials from a height directly beside them'. That would frighten the sh*t out of anyone, let alone a flight animal like a horse. Having experienced the same myself from immature, giggling idiots when passing building sites, my immediate thought was "that was done deliberately".
There was no witness, that is just the excuse an army general gave, with ZERO evidence.

My uncle was one of the vets that literally flew in to save Sefton following the IRA bombing in 1982 . Sefton eventually returned to service, despite multiple injuries and several operations. I’m pretty sure that a horse that was spooked will also survive- unless horses have suddenly become ‘snowflakes’.

What horses or any other animal has to do to our humans selfish problems? If we are so sure that we are the most special among all creatures, than we need to think again. With all technology and science available today, we are not even considering not use horses for military purposes, perhaps we are not that special.

They get the choice. Theyre not forced to be on duty, if the horses dont want to be there then they get replaced. And that happens extremely regularly

Horses have quietly been exploited throughout history, silent slaves to man's desire for war, farm machines, racing for betting & wild mustangs brutally culled. The Horse Guards would think nothing of having anyone of them destroyed for disobedience, these two breakaways, don't stand a chance. Exhibiting an inspection parade in public is asking for trouble.

Horses are classed as "pray" animals, very much in flight response, they're hearing is much better than ours, they can hear the noise air makes when passing through a bicycle wheel. They can see a rabbit twitch on a hill top, and feel a fly crawling on their backs. Apparently rubble was dropped from height, which frightened the horses. Police horses are desensitised to a higher level than the army horses. Also the uniform is ceremonial, I wouldn't think it was great to ride in either! I've worked with horses for nearly 50 years and whether mine or owned by others, you never got any two the same.

I saw a documentary which showed the absolutely crazy practice of training all the Horseguards to ride these beautiful ceremonial horses, why do they not choose men who have grown up with horses and are completely comfortable with them whatever happens.
I used to ride but was not a natural but I am a great driver. I had a sister who rode like a professional but could not drive. Most people do not make good horsemen, you can’t make a silk purse out of a pig’s ear!! This may not have happened if true horsemen had been riding.
Having said that I live in Central London and never walk past buildings being renovated or scaffolding.

When I saw this I cried… I watch the horse guards every day and they do spook at noises such as demonstrations…I’m praying for their speedy recovery…
I just don’t see why the guards or even the police need to use these gorgeous animals to pummel through crowds. We are not back in the dark ages anymore so they don’t need them to do what they are made to do. Since when do we use Cavalry in this country? Poor things! Can’t stand the overall cruelty.
