First step: press Win+G to open up Windows 10's Game Bar, then confirm that FL Studio is a game, go to the options and activate the Game Mode for FL. The Game Mode makes games run more fluently by limiting programs in the background but works for DAWs as well.
Second steo: close your Chrome Browser while producing. It'll rob your processing power even though the Game Mode should prevent that.

Here's another tip I discovered just today! Some plugins (like Vocodex) have the option to turn "threading" on. For synths you'll find it in the "wrapper settings -> processing" tab. Turning it on will make the plugin make use of multiple cores!
Also, having dope samles cost no CPU! So check out this FREE sample pack: cym.fm/2U26OOe

also you can click and hold that button in the top right of edison to drag the audio you just recorded directly into the playlist. I'll right click + I to make a new arrangement lane and place the audio directly under the MIDI and the mute the midi.

that's what i do most of the time :P
works like a charm. I never use it for freezing unless I KNOW i'm not going to change anything though. I usually change stuff like 1 note in an arp or melody even after the final mix and master, so that would bring me a bit of trouble.

Freezing tracks is very useful. For example, you make an arpeggio in the piano roll and you really like it, so you'll stick with it and you know you won't make any changes, beside adding effects on the mixer channel. You jut use this method and you'll have an audio clip that prevents CPU bleeding. The arpeggio will stay unable in the playlist, in case you change your mind.

Using "Sends" also makes your project less compatible for "Multi-Threading" processors. Using BUS and Sends (Which shares with other tracks) gets processed by only a single core which makes your project more heavier to play.
So BUS only if it's required or if BUSing is your only workflow then try not to route them all to an empty common track.
Google "Make FL Projects Multi-Threading compatible" for more info and keep it in mind for your future projects. Good luck and Happy producing :)

If you're having trouble with excessive heat in your laptop, the best solution is a cooling stand, cost you like $20-25. Worked wonders for this very problem for me. There is the issue of added fan noise if you're recording audio, though. Also, yeah, cleaning the dust cake off my heatsink was immensely beneficial. Can be simple or a giant nearly-impossible pain in the ass depending on the design of the lap top casing.
