Re: Armia, he has consistently shown recently that he can be an excellent depth player who's great on the PK, all while providing some offense. If he can maintain this pace and embrace his role, he will be a good asset for the Habs as a trade chip or until his contract expires.
Love Ehlers. Amazing player. I wish the team would support him more. Hate to loose him. They should be pushing him more . Same with Perfetti.
Good morning folks. I enjoyed your show today. There are lots of options for Montreal and you raise some interesting ones. It is almost like the creative style of coaching that St. Louis brings because we want things to happen. “Take what the game gives you so to speak.”
To me, everything is on the table including Ehlers. The dominoe effect will provide some unexpected results in targeting players we may not think about right away.

Scott, you say players have to earn the right well Roy was a first year pro in Laval, not doing great by the way the jumps to the second line getting good minutes. He didn't earn that right, they gave it him. The same thing happened the year before when RHP jumped right into the first line. Management or MSL is definitely picking favorites here and that's a problem.
Great analysis guys. Re: Ylonen, the reality is that not every hockey player becomes a regular NHL'er. C'est la vie. From another perspective, some get breaks, some don't. During the 22-23 season RHP was called up to play on the 1st line with Suzuki and Caufield, due to there being multiple injuries on the Habs roster. He performed quite well ... the new Gallagher ! Who knows if Ylonen would have fared as well had he been given the opportunity. Perhaps not as he lacks a little grit.
I think Anderson would be a better fit on a more physical style team like Florida or a few teams in the west.
IMO the Habs will not trade for another undersized forward , like White 5-11/191, Newhook 5-11/199 and ... Ehlers is 6-0/ 172, a smaller forward ... Not more than 3 shrimps in the top 12 please. to many shrimps already...Caufeild ...Gallagher ...RHP .... Roy ..... More size and Grit is required...
Habs mgmt is making a mistake by not addressing this lack .... More intimidation from the FORWARDS is needed for playoffs success.
Not in Hughes dna to trade assets to get rid of a contract. Maybe Winnipeg pick, Harris and Anderson for Ehlers, or substitute divorak for Anderson, Anderson will be better, not willing to just give him away. So ideally Harris, Winnipeg first and divorak, through in ylonen
Simple breakdown, most likely scenario Florida is good and Calgary is bad, picking top 10, Habs get Florida pick, the only way we get a lottery pick is if both have lottery picks, in that case Florida keeps their pick and Habs get the flames. In this scenario, the only way Habs don’t, is if calgary wins the lottery, then Habs get 2026 pick, no conditions

You say Ehlers no longer fits in as a Jet, well my gut tells me that he wouldn't fit in any better as a Hab, in spite of his obvious talent ... it's a chemistry thing. Besides, Ehlers is not a playoff performer !
He tends to be a bit of a loner on the ice. Just does his own thing. He is great, and he is fast, but he is not team player too much.
I don’t see Ehlers as a good fit. Reason he got demoted in the playoff line-up. Can’t play in the critical moments in tough games. Rather have someone round out the top 6 that is hard to play against.
I was disappointed in Ylonen. There are holes in his game that he needs to fix to be a regular NHLer. He consistently misses on the forecheck. Lack of physicality to win puck battles. He does not drive the middle of the ice and does not go to the tough areas of the ice. Out of position in his own end. Does not play the puck well up the wall on the breakout. Turns the puck over in his own end. Has the raw talent but not sure he is built for the NHL game.

He is a borderline nhl player with no big upside...
