@@outsidethebarn ... not a sock puppet in sight! ... 🤗 ...
@@outsidethebarn I was curious about how the go kart was doing while watching the drive shaft video.
Dang you got noticed by that CZcams guy. Sick!!

It is always good to see you and JD having fun, and learning. Nothing better.
My buddies family had a junkyard when I was a kid and he would let us bomb the yard truck around out there. It was a Dodge Omni no doors or hatch and we had a blast in that thing. It had duel wheels on the front and you couldn't get it stuck we tried!!!!😁 This was back in the 80's. Good times.
Those Omns had a great VW OHC mill 2.4ish? The Ramoage was skid pad champ
O what fun reminds me about my high school
I also had a friend who's dad owned a used car lot and salvage yard, most of the cars he was selling were almost salvage worthy and it sat on like 200 acres
We drove and rode all kind of stuff all over that place we called the farm and it's where I got my love for vehicles
We had a 1986 Dodge d50 that my father bought brand new in the neighbor rolled it and we rolled it back over and it was totaled so I got a floor jack and a 2 x 4 and jacked up the roof back up to height and we used to drive that thing around all over New Mexico when we lived out there in the dirt in this town called meadow lake which they let the lake dry up and it's a dirt bowl now.
2:50 - Dude is parenting like a boss and rippin' darts doing it.
Mad respect.
Darts killed my dad... Nothing to be proud of.
We used to make "gocarts" out of old Kiasers and Studebakera at my uncles junkyard when I was growing up! He let us make a 'race track' around the cornfield!
This video brought back some great memories, and you're making those same memories with JD!
Way to DAD!
You have the personal junkyard that I DREAM of having! I love seeing all the old cars strewn about.
And seriously awesome job teaching your son. He's really lucky to have a great dad!
That’s the best way for a kid to learn to drive! I had an old Malibu that my brother had hit four or five deer with. I finally got Dad to solder up the radiator and let it eat in the pasture. I taught myself to parallel park, power brake, drifting corners, and do Rockford turns. Perfect. Good for you, Dalton and JD!
I grew up in Michigan, so drifting the snow covered roads was a daily occurrence with my dad. When I got my first car, I went out to an empty parking lot in the winter and did the same exact thing.
My younger cousin was doing donuts with his dad's old 94 Chevy farm truck when he was around 7 years old, lmao. It definitely made us all better drivers
Love it😂😂 try putting the rims on backwards for a few more inches of width 🤷♂️😅
Still the best use for one of those Kias. Maybe the Eagle could be his second High school ride, I'd rip one at some point. And have a explorer truck
I really like that you are sharing your knowledge with your son. I still don't completely understand relays but I just learned a lot. Great Dad
This is a great father-son project. Your both clearly enjoy the time, so I don't have to tell you that you'll never regret the effort both of you put in to this.
It is great that you have him helping you in the shop, and you are teaching him skills that can help him in the future. Love both of the channels!! Keep up the great work!
Starting to look good.
you could go back to one spacer and use a BFH to smash the lip of the spring seat up and out. it will make for more clearance for the tires on the rocker too.
I ordered 4 more spacers to go with the lift, we're going to play with it a bit
heck yeah!@@outsidethebarn
I'm all for homemade carts and you're doing a kickass job at parenting side note though you should teach him to weld and yall can make door bars or maybe even an exo
Dalton, Kudos to you for teaching your son all this stuff. And i am impressed that a 11 year old is willing to learn instead of wanting to go play with friends, or playing video games. two thumbs up to both of you.
JD is quickly becoming my favorite CZcamsr!!!
Sure is a good thing you had that Sawzall and hammer cause it would have been way to inconvenient to rotate the back to the front, add the spacers to the back and put the 235's on the back. The hammer and saw were way easier..
It's front wheel drive, obviously the point here is to increase ground clearance and traction with bigger tires
What great dad. My dad made me a foot steered, nonmotored plywood cart, no brakes. The first and only ride was down the paved street hill into a mailbox. Some cuts, no scars.
I am so surprised. A year ago you would have thought about the safety glasses and just squinted. Proud of you
"If you expected better than this, well then, you're in the wrong place"....no sir im exactly where I need to be with your content lol I love it another great video
I didn’t know I needed to watch the two spacer tango but here we are. Great video
you are an awesom dad, he is getting lots of knowledge that he can use. if you ever get to northern lower michigan we need to have beers. good job.
The wide stance on the front wheels is to assert dominance on everything in your driveway. They must FEAR the Go-Kart
🎉 congrats to you and jd don’t stop being a cool dad
Hey Dalton I think it might be a good idea to make like a make shift door that resembles the roll cage in the door area of a stock car except you can open and close it. That or just make it permanent that way ole JD there want go into a turn to sharp and roll outta the car. Hell I'd just get like 2 or 3 pieces of 3ft round pipe and weld it in between the door frame and front fender!! Ya know, Racecar stuff!!!!😂😂😂😂
They do make Super Swampers in 28“. Or basically 235/75/15“...
That, or a set of the old Buckshots, or Co-op Grip Spurs would take this kart to the next few levels. Used of course, would be better. Also, bashing the lower spring perches a touch may grant some more wheel clearance. Or a set of the cheapest coilovers from the Jungle site, if You're feeling frisky.
You are both so lucky to have each other.
You might want to put a visor underneath the big light to keep it from shining on the windshield
You and JD just built a Mail Truck.
Relays can produce a large voltage spike when they are switched off due to the coil de-energising. Resistors or diodes are sometimes fitted across the coil of the relay to stop/reduce these spikes travelling back into the control circuit and damaging sensitive components.
Great to see jd. He reminds me of me when i was learning on car stuff
The relay bit made me wish i had somebody around willing to show me how stuff worked. No clue + no money + "Just get it going" = making junk.
My how JD is growing up. Hats off to you Dalton .
Junkyard FWD Sportage Kia- Hyundai Crossover spindles and struts would have gotten lift/ clearance for cheap. Those FWD Sportages litter junkyards..... only possible issue, drill different bolt pattern on top of strut tower caps . That particular FWD Kia, Mazda Platform which Kia was using under royalty- licence agreement,so a proper insane lift/ clearance is definitely cheaply doable.
Awesome guys it’s about ready for race day 🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
belts...I rolled out of my go-cart as a kid...rear tire rolled over my leg...no damage, but it could have been bad...have fun AND arrive alive....cool project...
The "go cart"
See JD how we do this. Perfection... JD "Yea we are professionals" I laughed so hard....
Whistlin’ Dalton!
That old 50/50 machine is trying its best. I worked at a tire shop with one of those and it was a great machine for steal wheels. But would scratch the hell out of aluminum wheels
Who needs a side by side when you got a kia!
Holy shit let's see what crazy stuff JD will teach his ol man in this one.
Hey dalton and jd if you dont want to listen to the stupid door dinger alarm becuse you have no door😂. There is a push button switch that the door closes when the door is shut to get around it you can just disconnect the switch on all 4 doors and itll never give you issues again lmao. I found this out after a lady tboned me in the same car and my drivers door didn't register as being closed lol
I thought I had done that but I'll look again
@@outsidethebarn that also could have been the seatbelts dinger alarm as well and if it was that I have not idea how to fix that haha🤣
This is The Real Budget Channel's Real Budget Channel!
Can’t wait to see it lifted and could always put a snorkel on the Gokart or a hood scope
Great video, subscribed😎👌
Spectacular. Can't wait to see the lift kit.
If you added a push tire, so you can push stuff, it would be a good yard rig
You are teaching him well. Keep up the good work
Cool video working with your boy
My friend had a geo metro and I just wanted to take the front of the car that held the motor, trans and wheels and weld it to the back of my go-cart because it would fit. But I most likely would have died during the first ride.
Do replace the timing belt. It's a very reliable engine. I had one. I miss that car but love my truck.
Awesome JD.
Man I've been waiting for this one :)
Those are the same size tires as stock on the 85 s10 blazer I used to have
, Hey looking good, great video want more.
What a great video 😊
New to this channel been a subscriber for over 5 years now since I seen junkyard digs
Cool
What a great Idea 💡
Utilizing a sub compact ,
As a go - kart ‼️
Christ ..... i haven't see on of those tire chargers , since i was JD's age
Maybe try cutting the stock wheels and moving the centers, it's janky, but no less or more than four spacers on the front end. They used to flip steel wheels back in the day where they cut the centers out and flipped the wheel around for more depth, could look cool!
Did not know that you had a different channel just subscribed 👍
JD's a CHAMP!
That was so fun!!
You could weld plates in on the front for support where you trimmed the wheel wells
I love that Coats 40-40. I had to learn on a 10-10, before I could use the 40-40. Good memories.
Can’t wait to see the lift kit install!
Tubular doors with nets would be cool, and a rollcage.
@outsidethebarn Dalton you made a reverse tractor!
You should put the wheels on the Kia inside out for offset with one spacer per wheel along with the lift kit
There has been a self-tapper sighting!
Bolt the front tires on backwards for more clearance 😎
What a pair of absolute lads! Enjoying yourselves and doing the important things in life together. Would turning the wheels round have a decent "stance" effect and help with clearance?
Really the perfect car to play with
Whatever type car he picks to be his first car is gonna be cool
Hahahaha, those hub extensions are center of gravity boosters, and elbow protectors all in one
I mean, the big thing in the old days was reverse the steelies to stick them out in the back. I wonder if a guy has ever worked on junk old weirdly hot rodded Iron.
Needs a snorkel for water crossings and hand brake for drifts 😂
Keep it uppp . 😊
as always u had me in stitches lol
Doin good JD
The best use for a kia
I think it could use a exhaust cutouts.
Cuts his hair. Loses some brain cells. That's cool.
JD has LIGHTS. I'll be sending my Kia up there in awhile to get me some of those Extended Wheels.
3:20. Them boots though
OMG so much fun
Take the rear tires off and put swivel wheels on the back of it like some industrial casters
Would love to see you do something more with the gran Torino
Way to go JD! Start working on stuff and learn how it works!
He's been for awhile
Totally BadAss. Way to go J.D.
That is a f$€
I bet the folks at Kia had no idea their little shit box could ever do something like this 😂 I can't wait for the lift kit!
Could of just got the dang tire size that fit!! Probably cheaper than those spacers.😂😂😂
That’s a perfect use for a Kia
Best go cart ever
Really good video and some nice upgrades lol, but let’s see it with the lift kit and some 31’s on it.
Eventually, doesn't happen overnight
Very true
I had this same problem with my off-road creation when I was younger, we just mounted the rims backwards, the rim offset fixed the issue, no spacers needed, drove like s!@# but really didn't make anything worse.
The JAAAG!!!!😎
i jammed a similar bar behind the grill of my squarebody suburban with equally similarly white trashy engineering. it'll be great.
Where did y'all get that light bar at?? I need that in my life!!!
If that Kia aint gettin JD girls, then the world is doomed.
When are you guys going to straight pipe it? We want to hear that kia roar! lol
