  • Making Italian sausage and showing the 1 hp #22 meat grinder. This is not a review but more just to show how big it is and how well it works. I was unable to find any vids on it in real world settings so on this batch of Italian I recorded the process.

    12/28/20 Just got the same grinder today. I have already used and am happy with the results but also agree on the difficulty of the design for removal and cleaning. You can remove and replace the screws...we did...for ease of cleaning. My husband bought socket head cap screws to replace the original hex head screws and it is much easier than using a wrench to remove the grinding attachment. Highly recommend making that change. Don't overtighten because the housing into which the screws go is aluminum.

    When cleaning the meat from your grinding plate may I suggest running ice through your grinder before disassembly? The result should pre clean the plate.

      Ya thats a good idea, I've done it a few times when the recipe calls for ice and it works really well. I got a little round brush cleaning set and thats pretty much what I use anymore, It's hard to get all the fat out of all those holes.

    Just got the same grinder under a different name, excellent for the money. Processing venison made easy! I agree it’s a pity the main housing doesn’t come off, would make cleaning a good bit easier.

      Some pointers on the unit . Do NOT leave it in a non climate controlled environment. The aluminum motor housing will deteriorate/oxidize rapidly if it's allowed to get cold and draw condensation when it warms up. If anything keep a nice coat of wax on it or food grade mineral spirits or something? I bought a round stiff bristle toilet brush to clean it out, it fits a little snug but the bristles get up in rifling of the bore and also do a good job around the drive seal area.

      Thanks for the advice. Was thinking a toilet brush (unused😀) would be the best bet. Best of luck

      @@celestekelsey696 hi, I’ve since started using a flexible extension on a screwdriver with a hex head and take it on and off in seconds, makes a huge difference to cleaning time. Great mincer, I’ve put 30+ deer through it in chicken breast sized pieces, never missed a beat.

    It's the extruder head made of stainless steel or aluminum?. Thanks.

    Is this grinder still working well for you ?

    • @Tonnsfabrication
      @Tonnsfabrication  Před 5 lety

      Yes, I just finished a batch of venison actually. It's extremely heavy so if you don't plan to do a lot of grinding something smaller may be better?

      @@TonnsfabricationI do a couple deer myself each year and watching you go right through that pile of meat without any motor bog down is what I'm looking for.Heavy is good,it kind of reassures me of a heavy duty,plenty of power unit. Thanks

    • @Tonnsfabrication
      @Tonnsfabrication  Před 5 lety +1

      It's a heavy duty unit, and has plenty of power, I've ran hundreds and hundreds of lbs through it and it's a beast all the way . If you get one of these make a note that the motor housing is polished aluminum and will tarnish easily with all of the salts and moisture. Put a good coat of food grade oil before use or heavily wax it or something? I've had no issues with the stainless parts .at all,

    can you grind chicken with bones on this

    • @Tonnsfabrication
      @Tonnsfabrication  Před 5 lety

      I'd say it would but I'm not sure if the auger would get backed up or not? Power wise a chicken bone wouldn't stand a chance,it would snap it like a twig. It may tear up the mincing plate and blades pretty quick though?

    • @Tonnsfabrication
      @Tonnsfabrication  Před rokem

      Most everything I ever process is partially frozen when possible, sometimes on these 25 and 50 lb batches I don't have room in my freezer so they're refridgerated pretty cold. Watch my other vids and You'll hear me talk about the benefits of grinding it frozen over thawed.
