    Thank you for the video! I just killed my two and a half year old bull and I'm buying this very same grinder April 3, 2023. I've been researching everything I can find in meat processing equipment for home use, and this 1.5 hp MEAT grinder is an American made workhorse. And from what I've seen from some of the comparable commercially made products, this one is half the price and hard to beat. I can't wait!

      @Joe smith Thanks for the feedback! I have watched a ton of videos on meat grinders, and I have seen little reason for requiring a reverse function on grinders of any substance. I can see why a smaller undersized grinder would benefit from one but not a unit of any ability, but then again, I have never used one, and my conclusions are based on video reviews (-:

    Just bought one of these and have not yet had opportunity to try it out, I really can't wait. I've been thinking of removing the try guard but I'm a little worried that the meat pusher would go to deep and possibly get caught in the auger if I removed the guard. I guess I could make a new pusher with a shorter stop on it.

    • @the_average_american7396
      @the_average_american7396  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for the comment. I did remove the guard from inside the hopper and it even works better. The pusher has a big enough end on it that it can't get caught in the auger. I did notice that when I removed the guard it was not very clean under the guard. This even made the choice better to remove it.

    Nice review! Have you tried grinding any venison with it? We have a Cabelas Carnivore 1-3/4 HP #42 and it continuously clogs up and won’t feed meat through after about 15lbs of venison mixed with beef fat. We keep the fat and meat almost frozen but the fat still sticks to the inside throat and won’t let the auger feed the meat even with the plunger pushing it in, it just kinda minces it up. We constantly have to take it apart and clean it out and put it back together and it’s good for another 10lbs before clogging again. How does this grinder do with running fat through it?

    • @the_average_american7396
      @the_average_american7396  Před 2 lety

      I had that problem also, before I bought this grinder. Last fall I ground about 300 pounds of beef, and added 20% fat to it. I actually ground the fat first, then the meat, and then for the final grind I mixed the two together. I never had any issues. I did have a similar thing happen like you mention, but I was in a hurry and tried to grind some room temperature elk meat with 30% fat and it bogged down the grinder. But that was my bad, and I knew better. I do recommend getting a stuffer machine if you make sausage in links. This is a great grinder, but I have had issues with using it as a stuffer.

      The LEM died due to the nylon gears inside the grinder, as did my old grinder. This one is all metal. Side by side I would say they may all grind the same, but this company has a lifetime warranty. Cabela's is a grinder made by another company, then labeled as Cabelas. My son could not get the part from LEM, and both LEM and Cabelas only offer a one year warranty. www.meatyourmaker.com/process/grinders/

      @@the_average_american7396 : Saw a comment on YT that 95% of Cabela's products are now manufactured in CHINA. Is yours made in the US with all metal gears? Plastic gear failure is what killed my (admittedly low end) grinder that a friend gave me when she upgraded. It was an improvement over my KA Mixer grinding attachment which made grinding even 5lbs a real chore. Not sure a nearly $600 grinder for my little 100 lbs a year grinding needs is worth it to me (at my age) but it *IS* kinda tempting.
