Eastonmade 22-28 Custom Built Infeed Conveyor The Missing Link
Eastonmade 22-28 with a custom built infeed conveyor. The conveyor is 12' 6" long and 24" wide, it runs off of a hydraulic motor fed by the log lift valve. The infeed is capable of holding one face cord which is nice when loading face cord bags. When the bag is full you idle the machine then switch out the bag and reload the infeed conveyor.

Eastonmade 22-28 In Feed Conveyor Build Walk Trough
zhlédnutí 137Před 5 měsíci
Just finished building a 12' 6" In feed conveyor for the Eastonmade 22-28. It's 24" wide and will be powered by the hydraulic valve for the log lift. After bucking logs they will be loaded onto the conveyor with an excavator and split into bags. I will have some vids of it operation in a few weeks so subscribe and stop back if you want to check it out. Leave a comment if you have any questions.
EASTONMADE 22-28 Aluminum Catch Tray Damage

Eastonmade 22-28 bent aluminum catch tray repair. This is my 22-28 after about 20 cords on the 12 way wedge. The aluminum pan was giving way to the splits and the splits began to get hung up on the forward bracing under the catch tray. I had to cut the tray apart to get it off as the pan was bent down inside the bracing and would no longer slide forward. I add some 6" channel inbetween the brac...

      If I was going to buy material to build another one it would be built a little differently. This one is about the perfect length for my excavator to load as it's easier to load from the back rather than up the slope of the side. If I had a log grapple it would be better. Needs to be sheeted with thicker plate steel, have to be careful to not beat it up, I may replate this later if it gets to bad.

    • @Tonnsfabrication
      @Tonnsfabrication Před 5 měsíci

      It works well, in the tow hitch would be better if you need to off load the wedges to a cart or something. I normally set wedges with my excavator, I built the hoist for when I have the splitter elsewhere. The way I have this set up I can set the wedges off to the side and scoot them on the ground, not a chance in hell I can lift any of these 22-28 wedges with my back. Even the 4 way is a monster.

      Belt conveyors have been in use for a long time in many different configurations, they last a long time but the down fall is that they're really exspensive to replace when they crap out. This belt on mine has seen better days, it was a balast conveyor for roofing. The farmer I got it from was going to covert it for firewood but gave up on it as it was beyond his ability. I've stiched holes and tears in this belt back together with bailing wire in several spots and I'll run it untill I can't patch it any longer. For what the belt will cost to replace on this I can convert it to chain for half the price and that would be a 20/80H chain with sprockets, shaft, bearings and plate steel.

    • @Tonnsfabrication
      @Tonnsfabrication Před rokem

      I think a pid would work best with some form of solenoid with basic on/off, I'm assuming you want to close a door or a flap of some sort? I'm not sure what types of actuators are out there, you may find something that works in an on /off type scenario? You might also look into an Arduino or Raspberry PI, you could probably gain better control with them if you have to go the route of using an actuator. Lots of outdoor boilers use basic pid set ups with solenoids so it's not uncommon.

    • @Tonnsfabrication
      @Tonnsfabrication Před rokem

      I looked up actuators, seems you could make that work with a PID,, theres lots of choices in the style of fail safe spring return actuators. You just need to pick out the voltage you want to use and gather up the parts.
