  • I have had a lot of questions regarding my saddle hunting gear. This video takes a deep dive into the actual saddle and waist level gear that I use.
    I will do a follow up video on my climbing and platform gear.

    I have used this saddle since 2019. There is none better. I wear it in most of the time. It is quiet to pack in if you roll it up right like you said. I have the same dump pouch. I was on a budget when I bought my transformer. To compensate, I bought hawk sticks and platform, built my own aiders, and made my own tethers. It is criminal what they charge for aiders, tethers, and prusiks. I also made my own gear strap and hangers. I still use everything I made to this day. Eye splicing climbing rope is a bit challenging. Doing your own splicing in 12 strand dyneema is extremely easy. I use the 1/4" chinese stuff off ebay. There is no sense in buying premade dyneema aiders. My one-stick is a budget item as well. I made it out of a 20" hawk stick and hawk HSP platform.

    Thank you for reviewing this saddle and adding your preferences for accessories. I’ve used the Transformer for two seasons. The saddle is robust and built well. I use the saddle for MRS climbing and stick climbing. My accessories weigh too much; and I plan to switch my linesman belt, tether, and self rescue system from Predator rope to Oplux. Whenever I walk to and from the stand I fasten the leg buckles behind my legs; and if I carry the saddle I also fasten the belt buckle. This seems to keep everything quiet. I watch the D rings, because they can bump gear or stocks. I feel secure in the Transformer; and I recommend it.

    Great review. I am looking that this saddle really hard. I am also looking at the Eberhart signature saddle, but it is made in china which isn't a deal breaker, but I would much prefer a USA made saddle. I try to keep my archery as clean (USA made) as possible. When I first started bowhunting 35 years ago, most everything was USA made and I really liked that. But now, one would be surprised on how much stuff is now made over in china.

    Wish I could try this thing. Just a bit out of my budget.

    can you throw out a few other brands for saddles and all the gear required? overwatch outdoors one is sold out right now. i found latitude. do you recommend them? and any others i should look into? i ordered my first set of climbing sticks last night- muddy pro, hopefully i didn't screw that part up.

      This fall I have been hunting out of the Latitude Method 2 and love it. I have recommended it to a few friends who have bought it and they love it as well. I don't think you could go wrong. I have heard great things about Buzzard Roost, TX5, Trophy Line, and Cruzer as well.

      @@NewDayOutdoors thanks! i'm pretty sold on method 2 now especially with their fast shipping. but confused again for platform and ropes. their X-wing seems a risky choice. seems like i should choose either latitude rebel or tethrd predator. i might as well flip a coin i have no clue. any other choices to consider? and i have to choose between ultra light 10mm or vapor line 8mm. i guess you would recommend 8mm with kong duck for less bulk right? ppl seem to love that ropeman 1 so i'm a little torn.

    What is the name of the pouch off Amazon?

    • @NewDayOutdoors

      Just search tactical dump pouch. You will find a bunch of them. All between $12 to $15.

    What pouch is that? I did not see it on you list in your description... Is it big enough to hold 40' of 9mm Canyon?

    • @NewDayOutdoors
      @NewDayOutdoors  Před rokem +1

      It is a generic dump pouch that is sold on Amazon. Lots of sellers of them. If you search dump pouch you will find them. Generally sell for $12-$15. As to if they will hold 40 feet of rope, I am not sure. I have never tried one sticking. But I am sure the dimensions of the pouch are on Amazon and maybe that can give you something to compare to.

    The only thing that's a turn off for me is that it's not rated, being an arborist for the last decade has made me more aware of the safety ratings for anything that is used to get you off the ground.

      XOP has a saddle+platform combo for $200 and it has a TMA recognized rating of 350lb.

      I bought that one a year ago. I seem to recall it only taking a few days. But hard to say in 2022 what his deliveries are. If you reach out to him on social media, he is pretty good about communicating.
