I don't have ADHD, but maybe PTSD. Suicidal at age 12. But ... with over half my life at age 63 going to 12 Step meetings, along with stacks of self-help books and therapy sessions, I agree with Dr. Mate quite a bit. I've long ago worked my way up from no self-esteem to low self-esteem and well beyond now. Acceptance, that we think is the answer. But the child believing it's the child's fault doesn't sit well with my view. Hard wired to many early child brain forming experiences, the deepest part of the problem in my view being I was not getting what I really desired. What I really needed, and all children need. Unconditional love. Which in my view is not available in most human situations. Why then do we desire and/or need this love. Perhaps, as per an AA meeting many years ago, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. We are assisting a higher power, a higher love, to create that higher love. That universal love, that we know of, and know about, as that's where we came from before our human experience. I certainly have no fear of death, and certainly have a deep inner need for purpose in life. A higher power, or higher love, gives me that purpose. I also write, as Dr. Mate does. -- Les W Kuzyk

@@robynhope219 Either you have something to say about his ideas, like the op has, or you're doing an Ad hominem, which isn't helping anyone. Plenty of experts have hurt a lot of people and spread disinformation, and plenty of non-experts have helped a lot of people.
