    1. Super Video, vielen Dank für deinen Mühe und die tolle, kurze Einführung.
    2. Gibt es die Möglichkeit die Wolken etwas stärker translucent zu machen? Die sehen doch schon sehr dick zu sein als Volume und schlucken sehr viel Licht.. Also immer eine eher düstere Stimmung.
    Insgesamt aber sieht das ganze sehr vielversprechend aus.
    Hast du schon getestet, ob die selben Szenen wirklich schneller rendern, als die vorherige Version?

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell  Před rokem

      Hi, thx :) Also:
      Woken: Out of the box nicht, du kannst höchstens das ganze in ein Composite packen und zb nen gradient halbtransparent drüberpacken oder so, aber von V-Ray selbst gibt es leider nur die Optionen die ich gezeigt habe.
      Rendern: Habe meines wissens nicht behauptet dass die selben Szenen schneller Rendern als vorherige versionen. In meinen Tests ist die rohe Pathtracing Performance sogar etwas langsamer geworden im Vergleich zu NEXT, oder 3.x. Lasut Chaos kommt der beworbene Performancegewinn daher dass man durch neue Features wie Denoising, Lightmix, Composite etc. schneller zu besseren Ergebnissen kommt. Ich persönlich sehe das als etwas irreführendes Marketing aber das kann jeder für sich selber Entscheiden 🙂

      Unless you do a refractive materials just leave everything at the default of 1.6. No need to treat that too scientific as the visual difference is almost non distinguishable between let’s say an IOR of 1.465 and 1.565

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell  Před 2 lety +2

      It doesn't really work like that you can fly through them. As they are part of the environment background they are always kind of infinitely far away. It's not meant to replace volumetric clouds that you can fly through and so on.

  • @dbroadwayvfx
    @dbroadwayvfx Před 2 lety +1

    So on the energy preservation thing, one of the developers said to turn it on in old scenes, you need to use MaxScript. I have NO idea how to use MaxScript, and was wondering if anyone could explain to me how to add energy preservation to one of my old scenes. The developer said...
    "Mind that it will be on by default for new materials, but for existing ones it's off to keep the consistency. You need to switch the option manually in MaxScript if you want to test it on old scenes (.option_gtrEnergyCompensation)"

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell  Před 2 lety

      Yes, same here, it's a bit confusing. So unless you know scripting and build yourself an own script for the moment there is no easy way to "upgrade" all your previous V-Ray Materials. If you don't use many shaders it might be the most practical to just build a new shader and then relink your node network.
      Anyway, as demonstrated the effect is really subtle and only affects extremely rough materials (anything below a glossiness of 0.5 or so) in a noticable way. So just pick those shaders in your scene and rebuild them and ignore the others.

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell  Před 2 lety

      I just tried, it does load the animation from the meshes. But there are no controls to randomly offset or trigger the animation at the moment like there is in forestpack. But for some moving tree leaves or other simple stuff it should be totally fine.

    Hi Jonas,
    How do you define the radius when using the finite dome?
    Is there a rule of thumb to be aware of?

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell  Před 2 lety +1

      It basically depends on the HDRI that you are using. If that HDRI is for example shot in a small room, then go for a small radius. If its a vast open landscape you should take bigger radius. You will notice pretty fast what radius is fine. I would normally choose the radius to roughly the same distance like the closest prominent foreground objects in the HDRIs are.

    • @JonasNoell
      @JonasNoell  Před 2 lety

      It's still there but certain features don't work when enabling it. I hope it will stay there as it's very essential for certain kind of scenes where bruteforcing would require way too much time. However as far as I have read in the forums Chaos seems to want to get rid of it in the midterm. Fingers crossed they will change their mind...

    • @L3nny666
      @L3nny666 Před 2 lety

      @@JonasNoell I totally get, that from a developer point of view it's a lot of work to develop and improve for basically two "different" engines, but without Irradiance Map, I don't know how to render.
      Brute force is too noisy and takes to long. To get a decent result with IM, my 5950x can take up to 2 hours, with BF it's probably double that. And that's already like the best performing consumer CPU. We can't all get Threadripper 64 core CPUs.
