My wife is an Executive Officer and she wont watch Utopia, she says she starts to feel stressed and depressed. It's TOO real. I just point at the TV and piss myself laughing "Look, it's you at work losing your shit at the muppets".
I felt the same about The Office. That's why I've never seen it.
@@SenseiEpuI painfully watched my way through the entirety of the Office…
Such a good story
I felt the same way working in the public service. It’s too close to reality. Sometimes it feels like they are just writing the script off CCTV.
@@Clynikal the episode where they're looking at projects in the Northern Territory, there's a line in there that a bloke I know says came straight out of a meeting they had over exactly that project. So they have someone on the inside.
"they're the experts"
"where do we fit in"
"you don't"
lol
Love the last one! "Protecting our trade with China, from China".
It's not the trade that's the problem (though that is one;) it's the CCP's regional ambitions.
@@nicholassmith7984 that has absolutely nothing to do with the scene or the comedic value.
@@nicholassmith7984 Not fair. You're obviously one of the show's writers.
As near to perfect as satire can be!
@@nicholassmith7984 .....so we are going to stop China's regional ambitions ? No we are not. China could take over Taiwan, The Phillipines and Tasmania and we would do nothing.
"Never attribute to malice, what can be adequately be explained by stupidity."
Or old fashioned greed.
Case in point. I didnt take your comment personally. I just think your too stupid to get a jargon file quote correct.
@@Hraefncin Nah, getting caught being greedy is stupid.
Hamlin's Razor, does explain government quite well actually
@@taherelm277 Think you mean Hanlon's Razor, but I definitely agree
Best line: 'To search Asians for food.' Well, it made me LOL.
That really is 90% of the show 😂
I had to pause to compose myself.
I really want this series to end with Tony calmly telling each of these people exactly what he thinks of them.
As they're sitting smuggly in Blofeld chairs above the shark tank?
Particularly Rhonda and Jim. I get the feeling only Natalie would escape
Pointless (and "Tony" knows it.)
Been there and done that.
Easier to get a bullet INTO Superman than to get characters like these (Rhonda, Jim) to see themselves for what they are.
This series isn't comedy. It's a documentary based on true stories.
it ends with tony fronting a government inquiry and taking the fall. Rhonda and Jim live happily ever after and Nat moves to Tassy and does real estate
I would not wanna raise tensions.
Where?
In this room.
ROFL!
As a security personnel working for an undisclosed .. Building
The scene with the security guard stopping, questioning the ID and access card situation only to find out said employee is using someone else’s card to get around the building is 100% accurate beyond belief!! 😂😂 had me in stitches as I can definitely relate. These guys have well and truly done the homework
I've had subordinates do this. I was supervising security...
a very clear message to new arrivals "YOU ARE NOT WELCOME!" - Yep, every time I see them at airports. A BRIDGE TO TASMANIA! I'm dying.
I want to say you folk at working dog are geniuses, but it’s so accurate……you don’t have to make this stuff up. Perhaps “honest” or “opportunistic” is a better descriptor. Well done you for shining a light on, and/or making a buck off of telling it like it is.
So so true. You said exactly what I wanted to say.😂😅
There was a British Show from the 70's that did the same thing in their context. "Yes, Minister"
@@paulbryce492 Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister were both brilliant TV programmes. Very funny but sadly too true as well.
I’m a long-standing yes minister fan…I always say this is yes minister for the 21st century!
0:35 No idea how many times I’ve watched this scene and never noticed the interpreter throw up the double bird. 😂 I swear I feel like a Mandela Effect Moment has occurred. Oh how oblivious I was all the times I’ve seen this scene.
Good call, I missed that too! 😂😂
"Oh f you all...."
Very common these days on Zoom (muted hopefully)
Not if there’s also an Auslan interpreter 😂
@@Alex-dz2etPretty sure any Aussie interpreter would do the same.

“What is this, QandA?” LMAOOO

Tony: No!
Maybe off to the side, a circle!
Makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time
Poor poor taxpayers

80s
That show was very popular in Australia too.
We have a much more modern one too called The Thick of It. Peter Capaldi before he became Doctor Who, doing a LOT of swearing.
Remember it well. Very popular in Oz. Evolved into "Yes Prime Minister." Nigel Hawthorne as Sir Humphry Appleby was amazing.
To search asians for food 😭😂
Great line.
I hate that I know these people - I hate how close Working Dog can nail the absurdity. But they are the best out there.
“Not built by the government”😂😂😂
You know what, at least we can laugh about it, we are not missing our great sense of humour
how do you know you laugh at the right thing. I for one, find this series horrifying and very stressful.
It's a pity that we can't watch this great show in Europe. I would pay for it.

Luvved the 4th one where the upset girl complains about a coffee cup she found in the recycle bin.
Very serious problem that needed to be addressed.
I’m so glad I found this show 😂
The way the woman in white chokes on her coffee when the younger woman says, "Eight." ☕ 😂
I work for the national parks and wildlife service and this is hauntingly accurate
Has he unplugged it? Oh yeah, he has.
Hahahahahaha, poor Hughie

Hard hitting documentaries. Love it!
Great writing and casting! Working Dog, always a level above in creativity!
It’s more of a documentary 👍🏼🤣
Just brilliant!!!!
this show is epic

When they're talking about Border Force, he is absolutely right about Asians bringing in food!
I used to watch that show, and man those Asian grandmothers brought in so much food!
Nailed it.

Brilliant
Aussie Gold.
So accurate it hurts! Actually I might need a couple of days off to see the doctor/ aromatherapist about the pain. I will be on email if you need me.
Scene at 6:50 had me crying, this is way too real
The planning and tender process? As a Canadian, I'm shocked they can do it so fast. Our F-35 procurement process started in 1997 with the program itself. In 2010 we announced plans to purchase. In 2015, current PM Justin Trudeau ran his election on a platform promising not to buy the F-35, by which time we'd already spent $309M USD on the program.
Promises were made in 2016 to hold a competition and exclude the F-35, and to buy F/A-18 Super Hornets as interim solution. In 2017, the Super Hornets were cancelled.
Formal competition started in 2019. In 2022, the results were in and the winner was ... the F-35. First deliveries will start in 2026.
@@danielschegh9695 by the time they deliver sufficient fighters, complete training, test runs, combat exercises, it will be obsolete

Best best best laugh a minute reality show ever 🍻🕺
A lot of work place "characters" fit into the category of mediocre leaving the rest standing above like "tall poppies" in the chaff.
The main problem with this is that the chaff don't realize they are chaff and the tall poppies are left to work through the frustrations.
Where can you watch it
Can we get this on in the UK?
This show makes me want to laugh out loud whilst simultaneously want to kill myself.
I love Nat. She really, really really wants to tell people to......go away.
Where can I watch this in America?
Would anyone know how this show can be streamed in Canada? Netflix allegedly has it for the U.S., but doesn't allow access here :(

So good! I've been in those policy offices before, met with them, and had to listen to their word salad. It's astounding just how accurate these characters are to the people on the inside... Well, they should be inside asylums but hey we need tax payers paying now don't we!
I ❤ Tony

I agree with the comments below. I worked in the public service in different states in Australia and I just can’t watch it because it’s too real. It’s not a joke.
So Carsten is responsible for 'Border Force'? Makes sense, that explains a lot.
Yes indeed. HR is Ron Swanson without any of the wisdom, charm, or meat products.
So HR is basically stubborn irritation that would work all day if it meant nothing got done.
Genius! Exactly whats happening with the world!
OBVIOUSLY WRITTEN YESTERDAY.
I'M LEAVING AUSTRALIA FOR FIGI.
AT LEAST THEY LOCK THEIR POLLIES UP THERE........

@@kparker2430 Dunno. There's also Jim.
Fortunately this is only satire and bears no resemblance to real world reality.
This is totally unrealistic, will have to go back to the drawing board. The BMW is using their blinker.
GOSH DARN!! I have yellow fever D:
there certainly is a fine line between stupid and clever completely lost on our governmetn plebs which is why this is both funny and depressing...The elevator bike scene where he get called "agressive" for slightly raising his voice has been played out on myself. An adult telling another adult to calm down for injecting any emotion into his words would get you laughed out of the room anywhere else but not in the HR policed environment.
I looove how British actors actually look like normal humans you could encounter anywhere
They're Australian
that's australian green and gold my friend and don't you forget it :)
obviously australians are the normal humans you could encounter anywhere
This is really close to the UK series “Yes Minister”. A comedy that is waaaaaay too close to the truth.
Why government like this?
Trading partner one is misleading. Even if China is the number one trading partner, you don’t want it to take over the routes and be the only trading partner US can really on, that could become a military threat.
Something says u might be an American
I've no full episodes of this show, only clips and compilations. And I fail to see comedy.
It hits way too close to home. It's not satire, it's reality.
I will only return to the ABC for comedy. I’m unaware of any atm. ..
