- As the battle for Bakhmut rages, the commander of Ukrainian ground forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited Bakhmut to boost the morale of the forces. The top Ukrainian commander also reportedly held talks on strategy with the units defending the town & surrounding villages.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to make advances with some reports claiming that 10,000 to 20,000 troops of the Ukrainian army in Bakhmut are now trapped. However, the battle-hardened 17th Tank Brigade is defending the town with its upgraded T-64BV tanks. Reports say that the 17th Tank Brigade is now seeking Western tanks that Ukraine is expected to receive. Watch this video for all the details.

Allow the Russian forces to dissipate, lower their troop concentration, by them maintaining more territory, wait for the arrival of the new heavy equipment - Bradley's, Leopard 2's, the flood of new drones, etc. And then go on a counter offensive.

Every ex military analyst have stated that 4 the generation tanks, not Russian junk like the T72 which doesn't have the situational awareness nor the ability to fire beyond the line of sight which Western tanks do have. Heavy tanks, even 100 tanks can make a huge difference. And we are going to see this over the next 3-4 months.

Exactly, it's been obvious for months now that all Ukraine needs to win is more ammo and modern weapons. That's it. They are well-trained, they are very motivated and they know how to fight effectively. This is precisely why our politicians should stop hesitating and send everything Ukraine needs to them. As a former veteran. If ukrainian soldiers will hold the line in bakmut.. the russians will suffer heavy losses. Why russians are taking bakmut. So that the attention and focus of the ukrainians will divert to bakmut and not in crimea.
The Russians want the railroad junction that is in Bakmut. It will help them with their logistics by shortening the distance that the trucks have to move their supplies from the rail to the units. Remember, 75km from the supply depot is the max their trucks can support them.
Though "experts" say Bakhmut isn't strategically important, I read there are key roads that would increase access to region and beyond. Mud season coming. Roads needed. Apparently Bakhmut is part of Russian strategy to try for (& fail) to capture entirety of Luhansk and Donetsk by end of March as ordered by Russian military. Impossible goal, esp at rate of advance, and lives/armor lost. Read too that Ukraine was only planning to stay as long as could to bleed Russian forces & equipment. But later read there was disagreement between Ukrainian army and intelligence on Bakhmut strategy. Not sure what exactly it was, & who said what. Think it's great Ukraine kept it from being a propaganda win for marking end of 1 year, but not sure whether they should keep trying to defend it. US Gen Wesley Clark seemed to indicate they should, if possible, despite others saying to pull out.

The Russians have now stepped up and are trying to attack. Ukraine needs more offensive and heavy weapons, they need NATO tanks, which would help them a lot, they also need long-range weapons and aviation. This would not leave a single chance for the occupiers
At this point of time, based on conflicting news all too often from separate journalistic sources, I rather not take side and comment on which side is more true. If you want to know my real opinion, truth is, both sides are weak.
The US been telling Ucraine to not stay there long , since it didn't hold any stratigic value. I understand Ucraine wanted to wear down the invaders and have a expensive hit to Russia in personell and military equipment, but if they get encircle, they better have a air force to destroy those Russian equipnent to be able to get out.

This video is just pushing Russian propaganda. Most of AFU are outside Bukhmut they rotate them in so they are not battle weary. There has been no more than 5000 inside Bukhmut for months now, currently there are about 2500 inside as they have already pulled back troops and heavy equipment. Also the rain will make it difficult for the Russians to make any more advances to encircle Bakhmut as it's all now muddy fields. Bakhmut is bleeding Wager dry, they have lost 40,000+ killed and counting not including Russian regulars and tying down the a large part of the Russian offensive while Ukraine prepares.
