Mates pls the keel test
No kill test?
@@rainstand2772 yes no keel test
Oh hooray! No kill test...again. I quit.
Liam's is the first heavy blade to win that i've seen. Well done.
I noticed it too.. once the judges said it's heavy, it's game over.. but not for Liam..
@@Papabogs1020 Heavy weapon can win if during strenght test lighter weapon broken. And few times it happends.
@@prasaite But, baring a critical failure, it's probably the only heavy weapon to win. I don't remember any other that didn't win due to a critical failure of the other weapon.
@@Kualinar 100% failure or no parameters wrong size, wrong shape, curveture/recurveture et cetera
Dave : it’s a very nice blade I wish I could own it
Presenter : please surrender your weapon
Who else watches this instead of actually watching the full episodes lets be honest we are all here for it will keel
I started watching for the keel too but now I actually really enjoy the forging part and wanna learn more about it and eventually start practicing doing some blades.
Yes we are
@@railander saaaame!
Yup I love these 👌
I do lol
I have to admit I was shocked. I have watched 8 seasons of this show at random and this is probably the only time I have heard them mention a weapon was heavy and have it win without the other guy suffering a catastrophic failure. Probably helps its meant to chop.
Most swordd in medieval times where not even sharp. Only knights swords for example where maintained and sharpened... most swords for the average infantry man was just basically a bar of crude steel use to bludgeon or stab the victim... so yeh weight wasn't always a bad thing... take a Scottish longsword, not as agile as a katana, but a katana wouldn't even touch someone in a suit of armour, whereas a long sword would still damage someone.....
Im going to be trying to keep this historically accurate
I'm gonna make a bilet of Damascus
Exactly, i was like what!
they always do that, im making this historically accurate, then they go use Damascus, and like a weird hilt
I think the problem is that historically if 2 blades are very similar, and one is damascus, it has won because of the work and difficulty involved.
Damascus is legendary steel and of course very old in origin, well why not would he use it...?
@I am the father ???
Wow..Both had make beautiful and effective kora..just like original one.. thanks and love from Nepal 🇳🇵
2:50 love the note on the wall. Wholesome bladesmith.
"in Order to Beat this Kid" Dude ... Show some respect
That's why he lost. Underestimated his opponent
Also his handle sucked.
Josh obviously didn't accept his defeat. I bet he threw a tantrum back home.
or not?
Not going to blame him
Definitely. He's the type of guy to berate customer service workers, albeit as passive aggressively and douchey as possible. If I could afford to buy his blades I still never would 😂
Liam Hoffman is a true artist. I've followed him for many years. If you've never seen his work, go to his website. He makes the best axe or hatchet that money can buy. His leatherwork and handles are as good or better than his blacksmithing skills. I'd love for him to return to the show.
Liam is a true artist...Josh is doing alright for himself as well running Montana Knife Company...both making beautiful tools
God: so how much neck u want?
Liam: yes
He sounded butt hurt, but even before the testing, I said he's going to lose because of that handle. It looked too slick.
Its funny how the more you watch this show the more you can spot the flaws on these swords that we probably couldnt build
He should have wrapped it in leather or something to help with the grip. Slick metal handles are just not a good idea
@@mirage5566 If it was oval, or a rounded rectangle it wouldn't be a problem because the shape of it would give you the control to stop if from twisting. His problem was that he made a cylindrical handle. Almost anywhere you go handles for bladed weapons are normally oval or a rounded rectangle so that you could feel your edge alignment and control it more easily.
Of course the best overall is a oval/rounded rectangle that is wrapped so that you also have texture to help you grip and a shape that lets you feel the edge alignment and keep it.
Just from looking at the two blades, I instinctively gravitated towards Liam’s. Especially after all the blades that had rolling handles, I knew it was gonna roll a bunch.
Man that was a pretty handle, and that may have been a hint as to where Josh's mind may have been. He already knew his blade was excellent, so perhaps he wanted to gain an edge via the aesthetic artistry of a masterclass smith. Unfortunately, it looks like he let the artistry outweigh the functionality.
I love when the person that deserves to win actually wins. 🙂
I was just wanting the older dude to win hahahha
Yh man
Waiting for *it will keel*
It’s an older video
This is an older episode, though the Strength test kind of makes up for it.
The overly cocky guy lost. One look at the handle while crafting it and you could tell it would roll. Good blade that got snagged by a slippery round handle.
I don't think it was cocky, just confident. His blade was close to perfect.
@@N0o0x0e0r Agreed. I thought his handle was more aesthetically pleasing to my eye with that Damascus pattern. If he shaped it just a bit more to index and not slip, he would’ve won.
Making it out of metal, my thought that it would be more slippery and less textured than wood
Depends on the shot. In some it looks quite oval. I tink, partially, it's his blade shape. His point is a lot further in front of the hand, than Liams. The longer leaver makes the sword want to twist a lot more, when he hits something.
well most kora handles are Completely round but are usually wrapped in grippy leather so it wont slide in the hand
Kind of glad Liam won. He was maybe a little too confident, but he wasn't dismissive like Josh, calling Liam "that kid." Josh was the more arrogant of the two, and his hubris cost him.
nope
@@kalanimoeai584 congratulations you had 2 people agree with you
@@JamesJones-yj8kuone of which is probably his own upvote 😂 so realistically one other person.
Great job Liam, CONGRATULATIONS!
I love when they say from Nepal
However in Nepal , i hardly know anyone using the name kora. Its more likely to be a westernized term. Here in Nepal we called it khoda .But any way Good effort by both of the contestant .
Yes brother, you are right. We call it Khuda and Khukuri while they call Kora and Kukri :D
Also called koñra?
@@manjitrupbikram no
@@swasg3129 Ok!🙏🙏🙏
No kill test because this is an older episode, from season 3. They dont post them in chronologic order.
His blade curve too much, almost like an L. Winner's blade more accurate to original design.
May not have been a keeeeeel test, but Liam's Kora devastated that cow skull, can only imagine what it would do to a human
Yes, exactly. That's enough to make up for the kill test because one such blow will kill anybody, period.
that broken skull is enough 😁😁
Hey Liam Hoffmann, if you haven't seen his axes and you're into Bushcraft and axes in general, I highly suggest you check him out.
Another great example of how pressure can affect your work. That kid rent-free inside his competitors head, try so hard to edge his blade with the handle and all just to lose it.
Congratulations liam I hope you keep enjoying what you do
Most polite reality show ever lmao
Everyone that is here for the kill test, most of their recently uploaded videos are reposted episodes from season 3 which is a season with no kill test, but it is still a great show. I watch to see how much work goes into making each weapon. The kill test is always a welcome bonus.
That guy was first in line when they were giving out necks
Am from Nepal 🇳🇵 🇳🇵 🇳🇵 🇳🇵 🇳🇵 I love this show and I really appreciate Kora is one of the brutal weapon in the world Jay nepal
Always waited to see the sword from Nepal. Thank you to all team for acknowledging the history of Nepal.
Yes, but they called it Kora.
Love this show from Nepal.💚 💚
Never underestimate your opponent
Love from 🇳🇵 Nepal
Does Josh not watch these shows? It’s all about respect. This isn’t ink masters. Kept underestimating Liam. Well deserved win Liam!
I thought Liam was gonna lose because of weight but he won... The judge was right- he made a beast of a blade. I really enjoyed his kora splitting the cow's skull in two.
Love from Nepal happy to see Nepali weapon wooohhhhhh so much happy
I'm an idiot and expected to see a sword from Legend of Korra XD
Wouldn't be out of place in that setting, though.
Me too
@@javierpatag3609 True! Maybe an air nomad weapon because of the area of origin?
Same
The ATLA fan base and the forging fan base collide and I love it
Never thought I’d see the day when bootleg Ansel Elgort would beat out bootleg Brett Favre in anything.
One swing at a skull? What happened to the 45 smashes into ice or the smashing it against metal pipes
Skull is hard but brittle...Ice isn't. Hope you understand.
Are you really watching Forged in Fire? I didn't see them smashing ice 45x in any episode/test. 🤯🤯🤯
Im hapoy for the kid,cuz that old dude was a bit way too confident thinking that he is above everyone in this forge game
That master bladesmith learnt something that day: he was not as good as he thought
One of the very few time the heaviest blade won. That Damascus handle is such a beauty, to bad it's so round and slippery.
They both did a great job💯
this kid has his own shop and makes his own tools that sell out as soon as they get listed up... they re sell for double the msrp as soon as you get one.... the kids success is amazing... well done...
People really love Damascus on this show
great job for both guys
Always a thrill seeing someone realize they _CAN_ do what they _WANT_ to do. I have no doubt we're looking at a future Master Smith.
I definitely want the young buck to win simply because he shared with his pup
That's one big chunk of damascus!
The older guy seemed to be trying to convince himself that he did a better job than the kid
Yeah. First time i witnessed a losing contestant not be humble
That's common with old people. They don't care to adapt or learn new things. They are right all the time in their head even when they are proven wrong. lmao. The saying "Can't teach an old dog new tricks" stands true.
As the kids say, he coped, and he seethed. For says I bet.
If Josh had just used his mill to add some texture to the sides of his handle, he'd have won. It's kind of shocking a "master blade smith" wouldn't know having a round handle on something that big was a horrible idea.
Because he got cocky and overconfident from "that kid" being his opponent. Well, "that kid" ended up beating a "master smith", all because said master was focusing more on his opponent than paying attention to the shape of his handle😂
Josh' blade was amazing but i agree with the judges. That handle was to rounded and smooth
I know, I know.. "WHERE'S THE KEEL TEST!?"
Amazing > really has a future on it, loved his blade, loved when cracked that skull opened
One of the closest matches I’ve ever seen on the Show WOW!!!!
Love from Nepal❤
“I don’t know what it’s going to be used for” then shows a very killable looking deer
And now both are running multi million dollar companies...Josh Smith (Montana Knife Company) Liam Hoffman (Hoffman Blacksmithing)...both doing amazing work!!!
After watching tons of these videos, they forgive your weapon being a bit heavy. Heavier weapons typically means they cut through better as long as they are tempered right.
I rarely see an unlikable a
Smith but josh was just wowing me with his pettiness
Bring back the keel test, that's why a lot of people started watching
it's from an earlier season before the "keel" meme became a thing
The best man won.
They killed the keel test ?
They haven't been putting that in recently... Apparently it offends the snowflakes.
No these are just older episodes and they probably didn't have kill tests in season 3
@@graveyardrumblers where the heck did you get that idea from?
@@rizkiananda1321 I mean... It is CZcams.
@@graveyardrumblers
it's from an earlier season before the "keel" meme became a thing. in fact, the original full episode of this also didn't have the kill test.
I love the history of every weapon
Hi! We’re glad you enjoyed the clip! Thanks for being a #ForgedInFire fan!
Josh's craftsmanship is on point, but as soon as I saw his choice in handle, I knew that was gonna cost him the match. Just needed a better handle shape.
Liam's Kora is the thumbnail at The Most Strongest Curved Blade in History
I'm from Nepal 💗✌️
Love to everyone
Now he makes the best axes known to man.
Liam is a true artist...Josh is doing alright for himself as well running Montana Knife Company...both making beautiful tools
Missing the dummies and Doug ☹💔 kill test😭
First time I didn't hear a smith praise the winner.
Someone forgot their eye protection on the strength test.
It really baffled me that he didn't wear any glasses with those splinters.
Is Liam a journeyman smith? I think I saw a video with him presenting his blades to Jason Knight. Wild
Where is the keeeel test??
I wonder why there don,t no kill test that's best part of this show
Put the keel tests in the videos seriously.
These are older episodes, I don't think they had them back then
it's from an earlier season before the "keel" meme became a thing
Older guy was kind of Cocky! Glad Liam won! He deserved it.
God job champ
I need a shirt with that guys face saying “It will kill”
I will watch this “necks week”😳
Geez his arms!
You could tell Josh was legit shocked that he lost. Don't get me wrong he's a good bladesmith, but overconfidence is what I think costed him 10gs.
The first time i see the contestants being cocky in this show.
Where is the keel test?:(
For all smiths out there, are there any circular handles that won’t roll? Every time I see the circular handles, the judges always have rolling issues. Obviously materials matter but why would you ever use a circular handle versus an oval shape in this competition on any weapon outside of historical accuracy?
Josh wanted to swing his blade onto the judges...
Actually it's pronounced as Khoda.
That guy had the longest neck I have ever seen
I wish Liam lost, it’s so hard to buy one of his axes now 😅😅
no keeeeeeel its keeeeeeling me
The kora had a cylindrical metal handle , what saved that was the tightness the handle was small and the hand was sandwiched
I wish i could own it even though he lost i hope he realized he got a major complement
Man, the host was really trying something, wasn't he? 😂
The other blade sure it was lighter and faster but it was curved too much specially during the skull crashing only that pointy section hits it and of course the handles issue
❤ love form nepal
i am a kid and i love it
Am i the only one who notice that liam neck is double the size of josh neck Lol
Liam Hoffman looking soooo young.
I love blades
No kill test? unsubscribed!
Go go go
Who cares?
imagine unsubbing just because they’re showing older episodes
it's from an earlier season before the "keel" meme became a thing
No kill test? Disappointed 😞
How can they mention that the sword is used effectively to cut sheep in half and not cut something in half...Not impressed xD
