  • And we have hit the rest of the war years, so many of the programs in this sampler reference the war in some way.
You can listen to thousands of Old Time Radio programs provided by the Old Time Radio Researchers Group: archive.org/details/@otrrarch...

I was 5 years old when these programs were on the radio. Just about to start school. This was in WWII and many of our family members were off fighting in the war. I didn't start listening to these radio programs for another 5 years when I was 10. I loved them. Would listen all day Sunday and into the evening on our one family radio.

Few people left around today who realize that these radio programs were all performed live! Standing before big microphones and holding scripts in their hands. With sound effects people adding to the performances.

I’m 22 and I’ve never listened to a radio show before, but this is very pleasant and entertaining.

May I suggest that you find Sgt. Preston of the Yukon Radio shows. They are such campy fun.

Just like today with TV shows, people back then used to talk about what went on in the radio shows during the week after they played.

I remember that during stays in Yucatan, visiting family as a teen, a station did scheduled reruns of a 1940s Cuban Comedy, "La Tremenda Corte" (The Terrible Court). Also Mexico City's XEW had a repeater station on the frequency of what used to be the second oldest station in Merida (XEZ, founded around 1931) and in the evenings the Mexico City station would play records and tapes of old radio shows from the 1940s and 1950s.

We look at this radio program and it seems ancient to us but like the iPhone today I can only imagine what sort of technology they’ll have in 80 years...if humans are still here

Humans will... but we won't. If someone in 80 years is reading this.... Hiii!! 👋👋👋
