It's 2024 , raining and blah. So I came into my 1940s kitchen to make a spiced apple cobbler. This music makes it fun!! Chin up , chest out and remember the boys serving our country. Salute!
My parents loved this music. They were born in the early 1920s. I’m 74.
I love this music.. it feels as if I have a special connection to it, im only 18 years old.. my grandma says I have an old soul lol..
I also love this music its so happy
I'm 74 too, and listening to this collection seems to bring them (both dead now) closer to me......
Idk why but modern music is so unoriginal now. This stuff is a wok of art
I also love this music, sadly my grandparents probably wont like it that much, since they're German
My father was a WW2 veteran who sadly passed away a few months ago. Today is my first Father's Day without him, but listening to the music he used to enjoy makes me feel closer to him again. Thank you for this. ❤️
Sorry to hear about your father. I know how you feel. Music is so emotive and I'm glad to know that it's brought you some comfort, which I can also empathise with. Take care.

I am 15 years of age, not many fellows that are of similar years listen to old music or at least this era, a few of my good friends and I love this stuff though, there is still hope for the oldies to live on in younger generations. All respect to everyone older than me in the comment section who has lived through hard and easy times alike, I am just very intrigued in the past.
I'm getting on for 80 Elliot and it warmed my heart and brought a tear to my eye to read your lovely comment. Long may you enjoy listening to this kind of music.

The old memories of my grandfather… 😢
I play this music for people on hospice that are in a very advanced age. It is amazing. They could have very severe memory loss, but the music is still with them. Some even start to sing to the songs. It is incredible how the mind works, even when it is failing horribly. They remember playing a guitar to the music. They remember the women's baseball league during World War II. They remember building bombers. They remember putting scrap metal on their driveways for the war metal drives. But they do not remember people, places, how to do things. Music seems to be the thing that stays with all of them no matter what.

I'm 31 and wondering what happened that our music is no longer so positive and hopeful and romantic as this music is. How wonderful it was. I grew up hearing this in the background here and there. May God bring us back to that place. Let us dream and hope again having simple hopes and simple dreams as we once had
Most modern music is just cookie cutter garbage. I mean, look at rap. Almost every rap song uses the *exact* same beat, starts with the *exact* same word, talks about the *exact* same things. Its just boring and grey
I see you are one who understands. I'm only in my teens, but there is something is rather saddening about the loss of any mainstream music having this type of sound.

@@mariannedavila3574 exactly
The positivity in this music can be partially attributed to the need for morale in the 40's. Now, the positivity is less necessary, so people make sadder and less energetic music.

It simply isn't able to be composed now. It was a time when music and all associated art was at its height. You may be remembering times in your past that are recalled when you hear memories. Could this be why?
I have 84 years . I like this music
I was three years old when America got into the war. I remember when I was five we visited my dad in a VA hospital in Kentucky and they were playing Rum and Coca Cola (Andrew Sisters) on the sound system in the cafeteria. My aunt told me when a metals collector came to my grandma's front door, she handed him a metal tea kettle and told him to hit old Hitler between the eyes with it. She had five boys in the service. This kind of music is my favorite, it's delightful but sometimes it brings tears to my eyes when I think of such a mind-boggling war
that brought such suffering to the world. I am a dedicated WWII buff. With all the books and dvds and magazines I have on the war I sometimes wonder how we got through it.

Hello Natalie
I'm listening this treasure while reading a book about WW2.
Thank you for sharing this. I'm now 65 and have always loved music of the 20s,30,40s. Like many Londoners my parents and family lived through these times, and the music conjures up the spirit of the times. To paraphrase Dickens, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, but without that generation we wouldn't enjoy the freedom we have today. I just wonder if they'd known how the world would turn out in 2024 they'd have been willing to make all those sacrifices? Somehow, I think they would )O(
Thanks for listening - glad you've enjoyed it.
Thank you to all those who answered the call to defend freedom. May the world never forget what all of you great men and women did to stop true evil from spreading all over the world.
The difference between this music and modern music lies in the absence of aggression and cheap bragging, to prove to someone that you are a bigger scoundrel than the rest. This music is art. She is kind and created for positive emotions and relaxation. She does not dress up and makes you angry. This is honest music for people. That's why I love her.
Thank you to all those who serve and have served. We owe you so much.
Hello Nancy
This is such a respectful comment section. I feel like lots of these songs are quite relevent during this pandemic.
My wife and I married May 20, 2023 in an old railroad freight depot in a railroad town called Hinton, West Virginia. Filled the place with our collected antiques from WW2, railroad lanterns, old luggage with travel stickers on a railroad push cart, etc. This very video played for the 1.5hrs while people mingled and found their seats. Perfect atmosphere. Thank you for posting it. Our favorite, Maginot Line.
Thank you Past Perfect, you brought a smile to my mother's face at her 80th.
She would be thinking and recalling the things she heard from her childhood. A time that seems to resonate more than the things from later in your life.

Beautiful. Probably took her back to the 40s, to imagine herself young and adventuring.
how cool i like the old things and music
When I listen to music like this it makes me wanna jump back in time so I can enjoy the best of music
I'll never forget when my great grandfather took me to the VFW for the first time, in remembrance of his father that fought in World War One. Daughters of the American Revolution benefit... Glenn Miller, Bob Crosby, all the greats, and others I'd never heard of. He was in the U.S. Navy during the war, survived Pearl Harbor aboard the Arizona. Went on to be posted to her sister ship, the Pennsylvania. He met a fellow sailor there that was on the West Virginia, and they became fast friends. Watching those two old men talk about their youth, that's where I discovered my love for the peace they, along with countless other allied men and women, fought so hard for to achieve.
I'm in the Navy now, and I can't wait to see him at the VFW again someday.
R.I.P. Lee Henry Meyer. Rest easy, shipmate. Rest easy, Pawpaw. I have the watch. WE HAVE THE WATCH. Always ready.
I am a 75 Year old History Nut & love this music.
I'm 22 and my dads 86 , having been one of very few kids of the 21st century brought up with this I have a real appreciation for this kind of music.. reminds me a hella lot of my childhood
How old is your mum.
@Scott S damn
Me too! Brought up with wartime movies and music and it always reminds of being a little girl and "dancing" with my grandfather by standing on his feet. Good times.
Your dad's definitely got some kind of stamina :-)
Hello Alexandra
They fought for evil, but the music is still great! 😊
Thank you for the fantastic music! Today, May 18, 2018, is the 72nd wedding anniversary of my grandparents ... my grandmother passed away two days ago at the age of 95. I know she wanted to be with my grandfather in heaven on their anniversary. My Pap served in WWII, he was a sailor and loved this music. As a little girl I remember him listening to this on the turntable wanting me to dance with him. So as I listen to it in honor of them, I know that they are in heaven dancing, having some beers and a grand ol’ time. I love you Nanay and Pap ❤️✨
LOVELY MEMORY KRISTIN...... KEEP IT ALIVE FOR EVER. I'M 93 IN A FEW DAYS AND WILL BE CELEBRATING OUR 73RD WEDDING ANNIVERSARY IN SEPTEMBER. MY HUSBAND WILL BE 95 THE DAY BEFORE ..... THOSE WAR YEARS IN ENGLAND WERE GRIM BUT WE MADE OUR OWN FUN GOING TO THE DANCES EVERY SATURDAY. I WAS JUST 16 WHEN I MET MY HUSBAND TO BE. HE ASKED ME TO DANCE AND THAT WAS THE BEGINNING ....IT HASN'T ENDED YET.................I STILL LOVE HIM.
You have brought tears to my eyes, thank you for sharing something so beautiful. I can only imagine how fun those Saturday night dances were. I know that is how my grandparents met, at a dance. Special times that I wished I had experienced. Happy Belated Birthday to you and it sure sounds like you have celebrated your love every day for 72 almost 73 years of marriage. Spectacular! God bless you!
Hello Clara
How are you doing
@@jeanmozley8442 You must be doing something right, what diet do you have and how do you choose to live?
May her majesty rest in peace
This music is better than most of the songs now... Bring it back 😞
thinking of my father today listening to his favourite music during war years /thank you
I smile when I read, I am this or that age. Good music is good music whatever age you are.
I agree. But what does that say about most people haha XD
Only bad thing is that it should have more likes
That’s the best playlist of WWII songs.
Well, I'm 13, and this is the way I remember the WWII. All the sad things that happened... the little smiles, the hope... I'll never forget it!
Just can't stop listening to this songs, just can't stop thinking about the youthful days, you seem to love the music alot right, I can tell from your comment, they will be so glad to know that people are out there who cares and appreciate them so dearly.....by the way nice meeting you on here, I hope you are having a wonderful time out there right ???
@@robewilliam504 Nice to meet you as well. Indeed, I love the music a lot.
Right, I'm having a wonderful time here.
I'm a 13 year old and love ww2 songs, I'm sad that some day they will be forgotten about
Not if the future generations are made known to these songs. You are the future…. People are still talking about the Tudor times, or the Egyptians, for example.
Regards,
Matthew.
I was born in the 2000s. I do not know any of these songs, but I still get a sense of nostalgia. Minus the wars I wish I could be around the time my grandparents grew up in☺️
Great Songs Forever !
Damn, it’s the best music I have listened to. Sends me back an entire era. The exspernce mentally is amazing when you just sitting in a room listening to what very well may be the music people died to listening from the corner of their living rooms as those rooms no longer become living.
My mother was a Rosie the riveter during the war. I am 80 and I remember listening to this music growing up and I loved it and still do. Thanks for the memories.
Love this, good old days when everyone would pull together. This soundtrack gets me in the mood for my WW2 Living History Events.
Vera Lynn's amazing voice
Happy ve day everyone🎇🔥🎉🎊🥳
Thank you to my great great grandfather who fought in World War II I bet he was listening to this and I miss him dearly
listening while studying History for my exams, precisely WW2 and the Cold War, this music magically helped me a lot.
What grade did you get?
@@markmonaco9775 Nah exam happens in a week
돈Dawnn haha I got like 95 in that class I just did that exam and listening to this to celebrate finishing
what did you get?
Much love and respect for all the innocent men women and children who died during the wars we will not forget you !
Gotta pay respect to this music
Beautiful music. My grandfather loved the big band tunes of the 40’s. If I was ever off school as a young child, I’d lie on my grandparent’s sofa and this music would be on in the house somewhere. My grandfather passed away last December and Glenn Miller was played at his funeral. This sort of music will always bring a smile to my face
Please accept my condolences
I'm sorry for your loss
As a teenager we were taught Foxtrot, the Swing , and other steps for our Church's grand dande festival to big band music. Thousands of youth came and performed. Salt Lake City. So fun!

July 21, 2022. Thursday. 3:41am. Philippines. Eating kakanin, with cold water. We went to market. It's raining outside. Life is beautiful! :)
Listening to Gracie Fields singing "Wish Me Luck" it suddenly occurred to me that there were soldiers in the audience singing along who probably ran out of luck shortly thereafter. But thank God they were willing to make that sacrifice to keep the world free.

My granfather also entertained alot of troops abroad along Gracie Fields
My dad served in WWII and this genre of music is all he ever really listened to.
