This is the Tigers team that lost to the Cardinals in 7 games in the world series. Reading about the world series, Joe Medwick spiked a Tigers player during game 7 and the fans so upset they kept throing things on the field trying to injure Medwick standing in the outfield. The Commisioner had Medwick removed from the game to resume play. The Cardinals led by Dizzy and Daffy Dean prevailed. The Tigers beat the Chicago Cubs in the series the next year despite that year's Cardinals team actually having a better record than 1934, but the Cubs won 21 in a row to win the pennant. I play baseball strat-o-matic and in my collection of teams I have the 1927 Yankees and the 1934 Cards. Thanks for placing on CZcams. It's like living history.
Just wanted to add that being a Cards fan I am very familar with the 1934 St. Louis team so this gave me an opportuinty to listen to the Tigers players in a game from that year. Too bad the Babe had a charley horse and could not play this game. Cards fan.
My father would have been 9 years old at the time of this game living in Chicago and following the White Sox waiting for the Blackhawks hockey season to start 69 years later on this date in 2003 my father would pass away
Clicked on this immediately as a lifelong Tigers fan. Would LOVE more baseball games of any team.
I intend to forward links for this post to several friends asking if they still remember that game.
It's funny that the radio announcer was also the Stadium PA too. Oh have times changed! ⚾️

September 20, 1934. The announcer mentions that Henry Greenberg missed yesterdays game (Yom Kippur Sept. 19).

Did anyone else catch that the Babe was sitting out this game due to a "charlie horse"?
ruth only played 77 games that yr.... was getting old
do you think i'm weird if i listen to this while sleeping?
Yes
I do the same thing lol
Not at all. I listen to the 7 hour Chris Watts interrogation to fall asleep. 😂
I'm doing it now... Is oddly comforting
Not a bit
Looks like this is September 30, 1934. I'd feel better about listening for 2.5 hours if the other team won this. :)
I think it is September 20, 1934.
Besides the poor audio quality this could be 1934 or it could be last season. The game has changed so little
Where did you find this?
