I try to like McLaren Indycar, but sometimes it's hard.
I honestly was against McLaren in IndyCar from day 1...the way they did James Hinchcliffe...
Theres nothing you can really blame McLaren for *in this instance*. Rossi and McLaren couldn't reach a deal, they both wanted to stay, but they differed on the terms
@@AngryKirbyHatesYou Bullshit. “Can’t come to terms” means I wanted to stay and they showed me the door.
@Richard.Hybels no the fuck it doesn't. The only thing it means is they couldn't agree on terms of an extension.
@@Richard.HybelsThe statement would be very different if it was that situation. Very different. Have you not seen statements of drivers who have been dropped?
Maybe McLaren should worry about its cars instead of trying to fix their problems with a revolving door of drivers.
McLaren also has a real shot at F1 championships, so any driver with a super license or has potential for a Super License.
I knew my favorite driver would get dumped by McLaren. Arrow McLaren- The place you get dumped unless you are O'Ward. Just hope Rossi can get in a competitive ride for 2025 and beyond.
Yeah I had the same feeling. I feel like a move to RLL is quite possible, which I like from a people perspective but not from a competitive perspective for my fav driver.
I feel like Carpenter is also a likely option.
My unrealistic hope would be a move to CGR as they seem to be able to field a bunch of guys, and why not trade one of their inexperienced guys for Rossi. No hate towards any of those drivers. I just think that if Rossi can get some stability both mechanically and personnel wise, he would turn out the results he is very capable of.
Since I've been watching in 2018, it feels like Rossi has had the worst mechanical luck in the field, most seasons (with Andretti).
Open to further speculation and discussion. I'm definitely biased and not the most knowledgeable fan, only been watching since mid 2018 season.
Picked Rossi as my fav when I saw him race at sonoma 2018.
Rahal should retire and be replaced by Rossi. Another driver who should retire is Dixon. He can spearhead Ganassi's 2025 IMSA entry.
6 time champion and running 3rd right now? yeah let's get rid of him @@black_sheep2520
McLaren is also looking for added ammo in its F1 battle in the 2026 era.
@@sterlingrussell2485yeah Chip Ganassi needs to hire a good American driver!
Next week: Christian Lundgaard has been released
As a Rossi fan...I'm very sad today. Hope he lands somewhere
My guess is RLL
He should've signed with Penske instead re-signing for Andretti before he went to McLaren. 😂
I wasn't surprised because of how McLaren operates but I'm not happy with it either. Just hope this isn't the beginning of the end for ever being competitive in IndyCat again. Go Rossi.
They swapping places rossi with lunngards spot and lunngard spot to rossi
Hopefully he is the veteran at Prema next year. 😊
Rossi 100% to Prema. Alex did a glowing segment on Prema a few months ago on his podcast. He knows them very well from his time in Europe. Prema said they want an IndyCar veteran. It’s a done deal.
I'd rather see this than him at RLL. With Rahal you know you're not going to compete for the most part. At least with Prema there is some kind of hope and anticipation, the excitement of the unknown. The possibilities. RLL isn't any of that.
DL’s track record for correct predictions has never been stellar so I’m inclined to believe you, lol.
That Dinoco car is fantastic on your table
The year is 2057. McLaren has changed their 8th driver in 3 races. Roger Penske's frozen head refuses to add more ovals to the schedule. The blackout has extended to every single race. The race gets pushed to Peacock despite every streaming service merging into one megaservice. Pato O'Ward still finishes 2nd in the Indy 500
I hope the hybrid situation brings some other players into the game...and it's not just a continued Penske/Ganassi benefit.
This dude is my Indy car news source. I don’t get to watch a ton of Indy car but I stay up to date through this channel
No surprise about Rossi, you could just sense he was not happy at McLaren and the same with Lundgaard at RHL.
I love Rossi, but when was the last time Rossi was actually happy?
@@pauldavis4287 I worked for them last year on Alex’s car. He’s a very happy and funny guy outside of the media lol
@@pauldavis4287 on point, the guy has had that salty vibe from day one he joined Indycar.
@@pauldavis4287Rossi is just a very reserved and introverted person.
@@julienaltena I don't think Rossi is reserved and introverted. Rossi is not a personality and seems to hate the fact that he has to appear in front of a camera. He thinks highly of himself and is a bit arrogant imo.
How much you wanna bet Theo Pouchaire will take Lundgaards spot
I hope so
At least this contract was running out lol
McLaren try to have a consistent driver lineup challenge: impossible difficulty
I know David seems to think Graham is staying but I wonder if he would retire or just go Indy 500 only. He's not been overly competitive this year and I wonder if John Forces crash had any impact on his own racing future.
He's racing about the same as usual. He's trash qualifying anywhere (and Mid Ohio last year was a fluke), pretty bad running ovals, decent at street circuits, and works his way near a top 10 on roads courses.
I'd say Pietro Fittipaldi is most at risk losing his seat since I'm pretty sure he's out of the Leader's Circle payout.
If Bobby had any salt he would park Rahal for every race except the 500. Rahal is dragging RLL down.
@@jeremywills1914 That's an odd take since the Indy 500 is Graham's worse race.
Wouldn't surprise me if he announced his retirement just like Truex did. Doing a part time schedule would be good.
You heard it hear first: Logan Sargeant and Alex Rossi at Prema IndyCar in 2025.
Shocker Rossi goes to Foyt Racing
😅
Foyt has Michael Cannon and that makes a difference.
With ferucci? I forecast a LOT of beef between the 2.
He would have to bring more money than Jesus to race for Foyt.
Foyt will not even offer Rossi a job - I would guarantee that.
Rossi and Daly trash talked the heck off of Foyt Racing on the Hinch & Rossi podcast. Rossi can stay the heck away from Foyt Racing. I'd rather have Santino than Rossi there. Ferrucci ain't going anywhere from Foyt.
Great report. Better than anything Indycar puts out. We love Indycar racing, the best racing in the world.
It really is. There is always action throughout the field and you never know who's going to win.
INDYCAR getting ruthless! Maybe its because of the racing renaissance right now. F1 popularity is boosting WEC, IMSA, and INDY so teams are getting more cutthroat the more money is getting thrown around
i'd argue that F1's dwindling popularity leaves people looking elsewhere, but yes. Your point is still valid.
@@JOHANNESwhoelse is it dwindling though, i have not really seen the signs. I think lack of f1 seats means theres a lot of talent out there on the market
@@AGHowardCali It has definitely dwindled in Europe. The US interest based on reality TV fans is not guaranteed to last and looks like it is subsiding.
Lmfao F1's popularity has nothing to do with IMSA's and WEC gaining a larger audience.
@@mintgoldheart6126IMSA is popular because it's amazing racing and the weekends at the track are a wonderful experience.
McLaren is never going to be a championship team without stability. Sometimes having a "setup guy" is what you need in a team. They keep shuffling the deck, and talking about shuffling the deck, and never let any drivers truely get comfortable, especially considering how pretty much every time a driver joins a new team it really takes that first year to get comfortable.
Lungaard and Siegel are great. Are they going to have time to learn the organization, settle in and figure out how to work together on setups? Or are they going to get through the Indy 500, not have any huge results yet, and start having rumors circle over their head? That's what needs to change.
Also: I wish Prema would invest in a veteran driver to lead the team. I'd hate to see them go the way that Carlin did.
A setup guy is what Rossi supposed to be for mclaren, but his feedback made the cars slower. The mclaren is not fast, pato was making it look fast with his very unstable car.
I’m not surprised. I feel like Rossi is close, but he can’t get over the hump and it seems McLaren is the issue. I just don’t know where he goes. Pato should be winning more too and he should’ve won the 500 but their cars aren’t on par with Penske and Ganassi. Curious if Pato starts considering other teams too…
My guess with Prema is its going to be Logan Sargeant and Callum Illot. Prema have said they want at least one of the drivers to have previous Indycar experience. And Illot as well as Logan both have feeder series histories with Prema. Rossi I can see going to Rahal.
I'm starting to think that I too, actually have a chance at a McLaren seat sometime soon...SWEET!
Only 2 minutes in so far but I am so relieved Rossi is getting out. That is what I commented on the Theo/Nolan video and boy will I stick to that. I'm going to all three days at Mid Ohio, hope to see you there!
Under no circumstance do I see RLL kicking Lundgaard to the kerb before the season ends. RLL isn't like McLaren, nor do they want to be.
Who said they would? No one is saying that
They are not going to kick a race winning driver out before the season ends. Lundgaard will win a race yet this year. Maybe Toronto.
@@wingracer1614 David mentioned it in the video, as a possibility for them to test out Juri Vips again.
@@HorrorDoxPietro Fittipaldi is at a bigger risk of that happening. Lundgaard is still getting the best results for RLL while Pietro isn't.
@@danielhenderson8316 I doubt any of the RLL drivers will be out of the car before the season ends, they all have very valueable sponsors & are performing somewhat. Juri only gets a ride in the rumored extra Sato Engine.
Zak is sooooo desperate to win he would throw his mom under the bus!
Nope if he was desperate to win he should’ve kept Rossi and Malukas!
the charter talk has been quite silent. I know they want a 27 car limit at races or whatever so 3 guaranteed entries per team plus then some knockout qualifying, but I really think with so much interest in the series and drivers wanting seats that indycar will change the grid size per race. Places like Road America and some other road courses can handle more cars, but places like Toronto are limited. And I do agree with David, more cars is always good, especially for the 500
Rossi is going to Prema.
Dave. Have to you agree with you on RLL. In fact let me go further. I think Go Blue Graham's time is up. He is a businessman as much as a racer these days. Amazing what that guy does off track. They can run a 4th car at Indy for him as they have done years past but Rossi for Rahal and promote Juri Vips.
He is smart as hell and should be running the team.
@@Richard.Hybels soon enough he will
How many fathers that own teams kick their sons out of the their seats? None. He'll be like Marco Andretti. Bobby will let him drive full time as long as he wants.
@@roycek.4262Because he works his ass off bring sponsors to the team to keep his ride funded while Marco did F all like Lance Stroll.
I guess David Land missed the news that Theo Pourchaire visited the Rahal headquarters today. I wouldn't at all be surprised if it's Rahal, Vips, Pourchaire, and possibly Rossi in a 4th car. But I also think PREMA is going after Rossi big time. They said they wanted a veteran to go with a young driver. Rossi definitely is that veteran. Also David Malukas isn't guaranteed a seat at Shank Racing next year. They could pick up Rossi to partner with Felix.
Great content! It's been tough to find good IndyCar specific content on CZcams. Very excited to find your channel!
Hope Pato likes change. He's been seeing quite a bit of it recently
Maybe Rossi goes to Meyer Shank next year?
That's what I was thinking 👍🏼
No, I like the lineup of Rosenqvist and Malukas.
The Backmarker shuffle. Rossi to Foyt would be good. Santo was able to win with them, he has the talent.
Basically Rossi to a backmarker is killing me.
Foyt does not way Rossi.
Rossi trash talked Foyt Racing on his podcast in recent years. I'd make Foyt Racing aware of this myself. Ferrucci + Foyt is the perfect combination.
To be honest, Lundgaard's talent is being wasted at RLL.
Not anymore.
I dont think so he kinda helping them 😅
Anyone who goes to RLL or McLaren is wasted talent. Such a bad move for him.
So is VeeKay’s talent at ECR
@ic3man Veekay is exactly who I was gonna say.
I expected more from Rossi at Arrow McLaren.
Rossi career defined by the 2019 Indy 500. Very good, fierce, hardcore racer very very close but short. Hopefully many great years in Indycar but just how different his career would be if he had won that day?
I think that frederik vesti last years F2 runner up would be a good fit for one of the prema cars as he was with prema last year and has shown great pace in the F2 car.
Another one I just thought of - which I honestly don't know how likely it would be - but what about Foyt? They've taken a noticeable step up the past year or two, especially at Indy. Rossi would almost certainly benefit from their speed at Indy the past couple years, what with their partnership with Penske, and I think we all know Rossi would be a huge boost for a team like Foyt. And as someone who's been a fan of Rossi since 2016, it would be pretty awesome to see Rossi get another Indy 500 win while driving the famous 14
"McLaren going through driver's loke laundry."
I think rossi could join foyt
Could the season get any crazier? Well yes, as a matter of fact it can and did. Not just silly season, the silliest of seasons.
ofc it will be crazier we get hybrids this weekend 800hp+
I feel McLaren is bringing the Drive to Survive drama to IndyCar. I like it but I don't...
McLaren does it again, we need to save money
Bummed for Rossi, but given how McLaren has handled multiple other drivers, I don’t blame him for not compromising during negotiations because they could easily remove him after the ‘25 season is underway and then he’d be in a worse position. RLL is interesting, and I wonder if Alexander would/could slide into the #15. Graham just can’t seem to find it these days, and Rossi now has experience in both Honda & Chevy from which to pull from. Wherever he goes, I just hope it’s with a competitive team & not a start up.
David you do a great job keep up update thank you as a lifelong Indy car fan
I've been to Taco Bells that have less turnover than Arrow Mclaren.
Logan Sargeant and Latify next year at Prema... Make it the Williams refugee team 😂
Think Latifi is still at university in London, don't think he's got any plans to return to racing and will probably end up running one of daddy's businesses.
Who really expected Rossi to stay at ArrowMac for next year? Been pretty obvious for a while.
Could've easily won Indy and Laguna this year...
@@ryanlowis6253 but he didn't...
Hope Louis Foster can find a ride for next year. He’s impressed me the past few years in the Indy ladder. Suspect Collet and Rowe each might get one more year in NXT. Gonna be interesting to see if Jamie Chadwick can reel in those 2 and get P3 there
Outside of Palou, youth doesn't bring championships as of late. I think Mclaren would have been way better off with Pato, Rossi, and Lundgaard.
Ecr has failed to feild a competitive car outside of the indy500, Veekay must move to a team with better resources.
The 2024 IndyCar Season will be the season of McLaren musical chairs.
Don't be surprised if we see rossi in the incoming prema car next year, heard it here first
Re: Ganassi it's blatantly anti-competitive to have one team running five cars. Four is already too many. Distorts the driver market and leads to awkward questions on track.
I personally don't think Ganassi should allowed 5 cars, 3 is plenty especially when only the 9 and 10 are competitive and the rest pay drivers, Marcus Ericsson being an outlier to this.
Why not Foyt?
He'd have to bring Sting Ray Robb money to the team to keep the lights on, and Super Tex likes the attitude and recent results with Santino Ferrucci.
Rossi could be an option at Junco’s Hollinger and then we see what he is really made off in an average car Grosjean can deliver big points
Lundgaard is exactly what kinda guy I envision as a "Pensky driver." Unless something on the grid changes drastically in the next few years; he'll be in Will Powers car within hours of his retirement announcement. The dude is very much a future champion; should his career continue on this same course. He's just how Roger wants to have in his drivers. Someone who can be prepared, professional, media savvy and rapid as hell.
McLaren/SP Indy Team needs to straightened things out.
Newer fan here: This is a silly question, Why do they call it "silly season?"
Is there a full season seat that Conor Daly could land with any of the teams?
“Silly season” usually refers to drivers switching teams. In F1, it’s expanded to key personnel too like Adrian Newey.
@@jstoli996c4s thank you.
If their line up is the same for St Peters 2025 I will be very surprised.
David has the rare Jada Dinoco McQueen??? Some people just have it all 🤠
I'm guessing the 1:24 is rare? The 1:64 or whatever size cars diecasts are was really common.
@@polycube868 the big one came in a very low quantity
I can see it now. Big announcement at the Hy-Vee doubleheader! Rossi to the 45.
AP is a Good driver and Indy 500 race winner and many race winner.
Rossi leaving Mclaren is a drag because these other potential seat openings are a step down in competition. Going to Rahal would be brutal come month of May given how horrendous qualifying at the 500 goes for them. The discrepancy in team competitiveness gets put on display when good drivers go to shit teams and cant do anything. Id like to think theres a lot of solid talent in the series, but for sure a good chunk of these dudes wont ever do a damn thing and will be gone in a year or two.
Over/under 10 DNFs at the end of the race Sunday?
GRAHAM RAHAL needs to hang up his racing helmet. Maybe Indy500 only for Graham Rahal? He's just so underwhelming and taking up a decent seat in the series just so Rahal can play IndyCar still.
Rossi and Teddy to Prema
Lundgaard needs to pick up his oval game.
They have contract to say "Part ways" when they fire a driver. Almost zero of mutual decisions for last several years.
Not going to lie...many of the things you speak of are many great possibilities and potential aspects. Whats your thought on Honda actually leaving the series????
Prema is having a hard time adjusting to the new f2 car. They will not hit the ground running..
It depends on who they hire
mclaren moment
Rossi has done well this year but he's better out of there. McLaren are a shit show.
Lundgard is a talent but this is not really going to improve his career that much. McLaren think they are a big deal but they aren't. Quite how he couldn't get a better drive in one of the big three teams is surprising.
Joke team.
RLL have been propped up by Lundgard. Bad news for them. I could see Rossi going to WEC given how that's growing. I cannot see him going to Rahal because they've been largely poor for 3 seasons and shocking on ovals.
Is Meyer Shank Racing an option? Feel they would be more competitive than Rahal. Would need a third car though. They could do it?
I'm not sure they have the infrastructure for 3 full time cars, and they're also getting the Acura program for IMSA next year.
Could Graham possibly be going part-time next year?
Rossi might even be out by this weekend.
Does Callum Illot end up back in IndyCar next year?
Lighting McQueen cameo
That's a sweet Dinoco McQueen diecast!
Great content Land, 💪🏁 yea I think with Christian, him and Pato will be running up front trying to battle one another ha. I think that is going to be a good thing if McLaren is going the route of their eldest driver only being 25 years of age ha. Have a young team that is all especially hungry. I agree also with thinking how that will be beneficial for Pato. The team in general. Yea Rossi isn’t sweatn it, and with what drivers are being paid now Rossi is a 500 winner and so I don’t care that always automatically jacks up the salary ha, or some kind of rad bonus at least. McLaren probably like, well you are a veteran driver now and it has been a minute since your 500 victory. Rossi be like yea F You I’m out!!! 💪🏁 Obviously I’m being stupid 😆 but yea Rossi will get a deal somewhere no question. To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if behind the scenes a deal is already in the works or done and Rossi knows exactly what seat he will be in.
Rossi to RLL is a nightmare. A consistently under performing team that can barely even qualify for the 500. There are no good options outside of McLaren for Rossi, as far as winning anything.
Rossi had a good seat at Andretti and a good sponsor with NAPA and he pissed it away for McLaren
I'm a Rossi fan for sure.... That being said he has been slightly under performing while Christian Lundgaard has been over performing more than just about anyone else in the series with the exception perhaps of Santino Ferrucci. Rossi looks to be returning to form and has been better than Pato the last few races... Too little to late as it goes. I would love to see him replace Armstrong at Ganassi but doubt that could materialize. RLL well a bit better than DCR, MSR although the latter is on a better trajectory. Prema is too new but maybe. Interesting if he ended up alongside of Grosjean as JHR. AJFR and ECR are interesting. Rossi looked to be exceptional at one time winning races for Andretti and finishing 2cnd and 3rd in the championship at one point. Now if Graham retires Rossi then RLL is the way to go.
Congrats to Christian I think he will challenge Pato more than he ever has been challenged, he certainly deserves the ride.
David, what about Dale Coyne Racing or do they just run the 500?
Dale typically runs pay drivers, or in better years, one car with a quality veteran, and 1 or 2 other cars as the pay driver kindergarden.
I think Rossi takes over the 14 car at AJ’s stable. Santino can drive for Rahal.
I think Dennis Hauger would be a good option for Prema. I think he’s got some budget, an interest in IndyCar, and he’s raced for Prema.
Dale Coyne I’m sure will have an opening?
What in the world is going on with this team
I don't understand why Lundgaard would want to switch to a big four team's under performing car? Sure its technically their number two car but mechancially it has been kind of cursed. Also neither Rossi nor his predecessor couldn't make the car a front runner. Also if he's not taking his engineer with him he may find out its not as good as his RLR car. At least he was clearly the number one driver there but, with McLaren hands its O'Ward.
Probably a better paycheck, for one.
Probably the same F1 testing sweetner that was dangled in front of Palou! Oh wait....
What do we think is happening with VeeKay he is stuck at ECR and he needs to move on
To where? What's even open at the moment?
@@hippyjason idk I hope that power retires or that he goes somewhere else because he is a good driver he is just stuck on a bad team
Andretti will run a car for Rossi next year.
highly doubt that, Rossi was happy to leave Andretti, I am willing to be that Hinch will go back to Andretti before Rossi does
McLaren is a joke..
Smart Rossi is overrated
I wonder who the next driver standee at my local HyVee will be. That car gets a new driver every year.
Wasn’t there more teams slated for 2025??

Prema will most likely be Rossi and Sargeant

Mick Shuey who won F2 with them has been rumoured but not sure he fancies ovals.
Illott makes a lot of sense for the 'experienced' seat. He's a talent that needs a decent engineering environment and good management to do well.
Any number of ex Prema F3 or F2 drivers fit the bill for the newbie....
You may want to keep your eyes on Jay Howard Driver Development.
Any news or rumors on Honda staying and any other new engine manufacturers?
Pato better step up game with the new Lundgaard coming in!!! I just hope they give the same support throughout the team!!🏁
McLaren SP owes it to David Malukas. And what they have done with these other drive swaps is embarrassing. Actually, the way that team is behaving, David is better off... My respect level for Arrow McLaren has dropped significantly.
Should have brought Theo back.
Can’t wait for GM/McLaren to refer to Lundgaard as a B-Level driver and axe him after at best 2 seasons unless he gets injured like Malukas then he probably won’t get a chance to drive. Seriously tho, I’m happy for Lundgaard, all but confirmed that Juri Vips will take over the 45
