...while Watkins Glen and other lovely North American circuits continue to go unused by Indycar. This event is an embarrassment to the series.

Because IndyCar (actively) doesn’t promote its drivers and brands. The root problems go all the way back to the split, and the egos involved.

The auto focus is really distracting

Why did they choose to race here instead of Belle Isle, or even Milwaukee? As for the race itself, I counted 8 yellow flags, and 3 accidents on that narrow turn

Tony has always been my favorite driver since 2000. It was hard when he retired but he was still in nascar. It seemed the team struggled. I couldn’t believe they went to Ford. I think there is a lot of consensus on this. I’m a more casual fan, but I attend the 500 every year, and know a little about pit strategies and teams and stuff. A novice could tell that this race was mostly penalties and yellow flags due to small wrecks. Track is too narrow and tight for these open wheel cars to do what they are meant to do:go 200 mph

The driving standards and level of circuits are the worst I've ever seen.

I can't believe they left the isle for this junk. I'm a team Penske fan, through all the different racing series, now I don't know if he has anything to do with that. But if so I would be very disappointed. This track raced horribly. They have to do back. They cannot continue this wreck fest of a track, and say your a serious racing series.

I have been an Indycar fan for over 40 years. For some weird reason I love the city of Detroit. Last time I was in downtown Detroit for a race was 1987. Went to this year’s downtown race. It was ass! The track layout is ass! Bring back Belle Isle! I loved Belle Isle! This was the worst race since NOLA.

While I like Santino I feel like he needs to back up his beef with wins on the track. He has talent but unless he starts getting podiums and wins, he won't be in the series for much longer. Its good to have a villain in the series. Not bland and boring I have been rooting for a lot of the underdog drivers this year. Felix, Santino, Lundgaard always seems to make the series better when the smaller teams are competitive and not just pushovers.

That was an embarrassment of a "race". And right after the momentum created by Indy. This ship is seriously adrift....

David, spot on with your comments. I wish there were wider areas were more passing could take place. I would love more ovals, but it takes the track AND IndyCar to make it happen. Just like another engine manufacturer which has not happened yet.

The winner circle at the river walk was better infront of the renaissance center, in my opinion.

The track is TERRIBLE! It's not made for racing..

There is a lot of good racing for 5th, 7th, 10th, etc., in IndyCar. The races, except for the 500, are always snooze fests upfront at the lead. Pole sitter and fastest pit stops and thats it. On ovals and road courses.

The most difficult race to watch. The rain and the tire changes were understandable, but having SO many caution laps due to the tight turns and limited space to get around was awful to watch. Has Indy ever run at The Michigan speedway?

Honestly, I never got the appeal of oval tracks. I couldn’t ever get into nascar the same way I can’t get into baseball. It’s repetitive and doesn’t feel engaging. I really only follow WEC/IMSA and F1 since the tracks and cars are more engaging and entertaining.

I think you may be the only Santino apologist out there, his words and actions arent that of a sporting villain, you know someone who pushes boundaries within the rules and confines of the sport, but of a guy who is so angry he missed out on his supposedly predestined career path to f1 that he now says and does whatever he pleases without caring who he offends and puts in danger on track. He can never admit fault unless he is reprimanded by the people who write his checks and he rarely if ever actually has a good race. For so many reasons, and I don’t think I’m alone in this, he should be out of the sport entirely. Go to nascar where this sort of behavior is more normalized I guess but I don’t think he has any place in Indy anymore

Why are they no longer racing at Belle Isle? Was surprised to see this new circuit when tuning into the race. Note: I'm a NASCAR guy.

What this race shows is that Scott Dixon is a professional racing driver and some of the others a just over- caffeinated yahoos!

Like everything else in Detroit, the track fits right in.

More oval tracks and less street course tracks in my opinion. Michigan and Pocono would be great ,to bring back the tripplke crown.

Milwaukee should follow up momentum of Indy like it did for years.

MIS is a pipe dream (anyone complaining about Detroit looking bad hasn't been to the Irish Hills in a quarter century) and there's been plenty of oval races post-Indy 500 since 1996 which did a whole lot of nothing for the sustainability of the sport. It is what it is. I'd prefer a better Detroit circuit or better officiating or both but we'll see what we get in 2025. Looking forward to... (looks at Race Calendar)...FIA TCR Mid Ohio coverage next week.

as someone returning to watching indy for the first time since I used to go and personally watch in Surfers Paradise, Detroit was great. I tried to watch Long Beach but stopped watching half way through. I wouldnt want every race to be this chaotic, but as much as I hate street tracks, detroit ranks towards the top for me.

He didn’t say “screw the 600”, he went, to Charlotte and it was set up, for him to jump, into his car, that had been, in the race; maintaining his position, until he arrived. Just as he was preparing to get, into the car, during the yellow flag, the condition changed to red and then, unfortunately, due to weather conditions, the race was declared over. He was never able to get into the race😔

Indy Car has a really good product. The races are entertaining and highly competitive. However, their marketing and promotion is terrible. Seriously, just watch the open ceremony of the F1 race at Las Vegas. It was spectacular! They are masters at promoting the product and driving interest from casual fans.

The podium set-up was a major upgrade. I've been harping on IndyCar's embarrassing milk crate podiums for the past couple of years at every chance I've had and I think the podium for this race is much more appropriate for this series.

This race was ok to watch as a replay with no commercial breaks, and where I could skip ahead to the green flag parts if I got bored. Seen that way, it was fun to see all the different strategies and gambles. But as a TV product, this was garbage no question.

Agree 1000% David. I dunno maybe a thought. How about build a permanent racetrack in Detroit taking the best of the European and US tracks like COTA. Get INDYCAR, F1, NASCAR, IMSA etc to fund and hold races there……

An ugly, narrow track for sure. Hard to watch. Drop this track like a rock please.
