If they put the 6.2 in a single cab silverado with a color match grill and a different bumper and wheels they would sell them like 24 packs on a Friday night
Maki damn rite 👍
Maki the high country has a 6.2 and does 0 to 60 on 5.7
David Cobarruvias yeah I know but imagine how quicker it would be if it was actually designed to go fast and not more luxury like the high country
Maki better yet in a single cab Colorado. Oh wait.
Maki why not 30 racks....
It's a mistake to not offer the 6.2 with the 10 speed in the suburban...
Frank Barbara yes!!!
Frank Barbara Or a duramax!! Remember when there was a 2500 suburban, with a 7.4 gas?
Family owns a 99' 2500 4wd Suburban with the 454 (7.4).. 240,000 miles. Not a single issue, definitely a mistake stepping away from even the 502 (8.1) in these larger vehicles.
If this sells well, I bet you'll see GM change their tune on the Suburban. Regarding the 7.4 and 8.1, I bet GM has found that people who are so serious about power in a utility vehicle simply opt to purchase a Silverado HD instead, and simply opt to go Duramax while there. No reason to offer and engineer a vehicle that doesnt sell well.
true true
A Tahoe with an Escalades engine = meh
A Tahoe with a Z06 engine = HELL YEAH!
thugangel662 only fca is crazy enough
thugangel662 same engine
Imagine trying to even control the rear end . . . And the liability GM is bound to be in when mom's who don't know how to drive get 600+ hp.
+Jon no it isnt
71sc502 The same 6.2 used in the z06. Please do some research, when the 2014 Silverado was released it was everywhere saying it got the corvette engine.
i think this is the perfect way to do a performance SUV, im so tired of seeing companies slap some red trim, different wheels, and different badges on a suv and calling it sporty, this has been done properly, thank you chevy.
omg finally yes the 6.2 in a tahoe my knew dream truck
Javi M ikr
Actually in some markets (russian, for example) 6.2 is the only engine for tahoe being offered for years now.
Not years...the 6.2 was first sold in Russia in 2016.
jet052673 i realize that in other countries u did have that option just like the knew chevy malibu that u guys can get in a v6 but i live here in the united states and here i cant get a malibu in a v6 only 4cyl wich is dumb and in the tahoe we only got the 5.3 if u wanted the 6.2 i had to get a yukon denali or the escalade wich im not a fan of i like the tahoe front end better thats y its nice that i can finally get a tahoe with the 6.2 here in the us and probably better performance with the 10 speed
Ah yes, my bad.
so close to SRT, shouldve named it SS
yep, probably slower too for its weight, but still pretty cool, id pick one up, maybe if they offered an all black.
Or RS, like the camaro rally sport
So easy to add reliable power to the engine and the drive train could take it. Just keep the numbers low for fleet mileage.
true, you got a point there, i just think SS since thats what the trailblazer and silverado's were named.
if they truly believed it will be fast they will slap ss badge on it
Holy crap my prayers have finally been answered for a 6.2 in a tahoe.
now they only need to add this package to the Silverado with a regular cab short bed
+Kyle Dixon We agree!
That would be crazy. Might be able to keep up with a corvette if it is specc'd correctly. Hell--why not put the LT4 in a silverado and make an SS Extreme?
Kyle Dixon would sell so fast
or the lt4 in a colorado with 4wd modern cyclone
Pretty amazing the amount of technology GM put into that pushrod engine! The fuel efficiency is awesome! They must follow the motto of "if it ain't broke" which is why they stick with the older design?
Congratulations. You put a Chevy badge on a GMC Denali.
Everyone commenting on the truck while I am here enjoying this amazing video quality.
FINALLY, a current gen Tahoe with a painted grille AND an option for an engine other than the 5.3L Vortec
Yea chevy actually listens to it's people unlike ford we say we want v8s and say Tahoe/suburban needs the 6.2 with a better trans and they give it to us, unlike ford shoving a v6 in everything.
in Europe Ford doesn't shove a v6 into anything; feel lucky that fuel tax is low in North America
I wonder how long it will take before GM has to offer huge discounts, 0% financing and employee pricing to get them off the lot
I have a feeling these will be low production or order to sell.
jeffrey625625 most likely order to sell.
jeffrey625625 i think that would be the smart thing for GM to do
We have the 6.2 in our 15 Denali XL. Great engine. Great sound. Tows our 30' TT very nicely
Is this the same engine as the 6.2 GMC Yukon Denali??
The 10 speed that GM and Ford worked on together.
Did they do anything to fix all the headaches with the problems from they cylinder deactivation?
Rod Long fucking kek
Rod Long lmfao
Well no shit!! Was to separate subjects in the same comment post.
Gm and Ford did work together on the 10 speed.
GM is trying the cylinder deactivation to make the government happy with MPG numbers. GM tried a form of cylinder deactivation before. It was a disaster then and it's proving to be one again.
I'm having problems with my DoD/AFM vortec Max , I removed the lifters and cam and it worked better but still getting codes even with custom tune
i have a 5.3 with cylinder deactivation and no problems yet. only 287 000km.. just a tad under 200 000miles i believe.
It will cost no less than $65000.00. Absolutely ridiculous
People will buy it and finance it for like 8 years ha ha ha ha
pontiachotshot or after 18 months in show rooms the typical 10 grand off msrp murican discounts r going to show up
Financing terms have changed tho ! You cant deny that one. They have gotten CRAZY long.
Tahoe premier is already 70k without this package.
Old Gregg They will have huge discounts after 6 months
OMG I'm I've always been in love with chevy, I just bought the 2017 yesterday😍😍
The Baker still loving it?
I noticed that when Ford introduced the 10 spd transmission, they told everyone that they built it in a partnership with Chevrolet, but in this video when that guy introduced the transmission as their new 10 spd, not one time did I here him announce that it was in partnership with Ford. What's up with that?
Jason Walker I think it's because GM and Ford both developed the transmission together but the transmission is modified for each companies specific application. I'm sure the zl1 Camaro 10 speed has stronger internals compared to the other vehicles with the same 10 speed. so it's essentially the same but GM designed it specifically for their applications while ford designed it for their own applications
Probably because everyone who gives a shit already knows so it would just confuse the uneducated masses to do so
Brian why would raptor have stronger internals when the zl1 has to deal with more torque?
Jason Walker exactly! I agree. This guy is plagiarizing Ford by saying it's Chevys.
They concepted it together but each company branches out from there to make it for their needs.
When he said "This is "our" 10 speed transmission...", does he mean Ford and GM?
allmotorkp61 if you and your wife have a child, you are allowed to call the child yours lol
+allmotorkp61 Yes, GM and Ford co-developed this transmission. Neither will say which components are shared and which are unique to each.
They developed the case with ford to accommodate the 10 gears in a small package, but each company developed the internals on their own to better handle their specific needs. The raptor 10 speed is set to handle a turbo v6, and it shifts fast, but not really all that much faster than a 6 speed. The one on the camaro, is one of the fastest shifting transmissions in a production car and it is the fastest automatic trans, better than most dual clutch trans. I would guess this trans will fit in between the two.
jhowe67 The new technology (mostly in the efficiency of the clutch design) in this 10 speed is from Ford, the changes Chev made was to make it work for their applications, this was done by Ford to gain access to the new Chev front wheel drive 9 speed auto transmission.
It's called a trade.
allmotorkp61 Ford and General Motors both offer different types of rear gears so I'm sure the internal gear ratio on the transmission will be completely different from GM 10 speed to Ford's 10 speed.
The Yukon Denali comes with a 6.2 why are they trying to make it seem like this is new?
I wonder if you could get the 6.2 in the regular ltz platform. That would be awesome.
The 6.2 is already offered in the Denali and the Escalade
This step up is nothing new. The GMC Denali and Cadillac Escalade had this for years.
Rather see the 6.2 in a single cab silverado, a good ram RT competitor and also in a raptor competitor.
I have a 2007 Tahoe LTZ that my wife drives. I have been waiting for GM to make a new Tahoe with an upgraded transmission. I will buy this new Tahoe when it is available! Thank you GM.
Brakes are what is in the Porsche Cayenne and they're exceptional!
Great looking truck, I wish Chevrolet would bring these to the UK.
Thanks Roman, great review! 👍🏼
+iVlog you are most welcome! Thanks for watching in the U.K.!
2018 Chevy Tahoe good job
allawi alsabbar durango srt is better
When will they put a duramax in it! then I'll buy a Tahoe
I've been waiting for this tahoe long time! I'm so existing about it!
Could you guys do a test on on the towing of the RST suburban when it comes out. I would be very interested in those results vs say the 2018 Expedition.
No "Shoehorn" needed. Plenty of room under that hood for a big block!
The 6.2 is also essentially the same physical size as the 5.3.
And fits in the Corvette.
Doesn't the GMC Denali Yukon come with the 6.2
Evan Warren Yes the Denali looks more badass too
Evan Warren yes, I believe you could get ot in the tahoe as well. ( I used to work at a gm dealer) if so just 10 speed transmission rather than eight and new trans are all thats new.
Evan Warren, as said by other posters, both the Yukon Denali, and Cadillac Escalade come with the 6.2L V8. Only this has a 10 speed, as the others have the 8 so far. So him saying they shoehorned the engine in, is false. The frame, and most components on the Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade are the same. Their structure are identical. They can canabalize parts from each other, as they are mainly the same vehicles, long as comparing the Premier and Denali trims, with the Escalade, and comparing lesser trims of the Tahoe and Yukon (non Denali) to one another...
I want one of these! 6.2 and looks better than the Yukon (I think). Also with a factory big brake option won't have to worry about fitment, squeaks and not finding pads. 👍
Just bought a 17 High Country 6.2L and I'm amazed no proximity key or push button start as this vehicle featured. For the price this should be available.
Should be supercharged!!!!
Yeah fine, just wait till you see what you have to pay for it. They won't put the 6.2L in the Suburban because they don't want to hurt the Escalade and Denali cash cows. With GM it's all about making more money by offering it in a more expensive package, no muscle car SUV's here. Dodge offers a much better bargain with the Durango R/T, and the 2018 SRT will kick the RST's butt for less money.
Allegronaut one word FIAT
danthebig__Z :v 4 words
Fix It Again Tony
David Gomez ayeee thats a good one
Well Honestly a majority of GM SUV's on the road are Tahoes... so with that said nothing will pull the Yukon and Escalade markets. Chevy SUV's are practically on the lower end of luxury compared to the Escalade and Yukon. You're going for the Latter two for Style, and luxury, you're going for the Tahoe for basic space, some bells and whistles. Anyone who gets a "high trim" Tahoe or Suburban should literally shoot themselves in the foot. Id get a Yukon over the Tahoe anyday.
Allegronaut comparing the Durango to a Tahoe is just dumb, of course it's cheaper...
Absolutely Beautiful. I almost pulled the trigger on a Yukon XL with the 6.2. I'm glad I waited. I'm still disappointed in towing capacity. They need to make a 2500 Suburban again so I can tow my toyhauler and take the whole family in the same vehicle.
disappointed it isn't available for the burb. Can you get this package and 4x4?
I don't get it. Why put the bigger engine in the smaller vehicle and not the bigger one?
Joseph Bondi it weighs a whole lot less than the suburban
Spencer Delpho as a sport truck, sure, that makes sense. But why not offer it in the suburban?
it weights only 200 pounds less. I would also like it in the suburban. But GM won't because that makes you step up to a Denali or escalade (both of which are uglier Imo)
Rlnthndr TRUTH! not to mention at Least 5k more!
Rlnthndr all of them are ugly. GM looks so shitty right now.
So this is supposed to compete with the new Dodge Durango srt? I think the new Durango will do 0-60 in 5.2 seconds... correct me if I'm wrong
Justin Howell well it's a much smaller SUV....
Aaron Hinkle the Durango is only 3 inches shorter than the Tahoe...
The SRT Durango does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds
Douwe Kruizenga lol dang that thing will run with a scat pack
Different class of vehicle, this will soon be the fastest body on frame SUV.
I might have missed it... is this AWD? (It should be.) Does it have a "mode select" on the dash for mileage and performance?
incredible truck
The 6.2 Denali & Escalade (6sp auto) both are slower than the 3.5 Ecoboost in the Expedition & Navigator. TFL has the drag race videos to prove this, I'd like to see the 10 speed comparison video.
dwhetrock and my dad is still faster than your daddy. I'd like to see them in the Olympics to prove it. he beat him by .00003 of a second. I mean destroyed him.
🤔 Guess I struck a Government Motors nerve.....
dwhetrock yes that's it. I was actually just enjoying your commentary, so insiteful. you should start your own car review channel. the smh was for your awesomeness. ....... not
I'd like to see Ford drop the HO ecoboost from the new Raptor into the new Expedition. 450hp and 510 lb-ft. in a lighter full size suv.
Bryan E
Do you have anything to add that actually pertains to this video??? If not go troll somewhere else. You keyboard warriors never cease to amaze me. Btw your "jokes" could use some serious thought 😐
I hope this isn't the new truck.... it's just a new version of the ss trailblazer... and not particularly powerful...
No. The Trailblazer SS was based off of the 1/4 truck midsize chassis, while this is on a 1/2 ton full size truck chassis.
That still means it's not a new truck...
It's the same generation Tahoe that's been around. It's barely been 2 years since it has been out. The Trailblazer is a long-dead nameplate, but the 1/4 truck chassis of the Chevorlet Colorado and GMC Canyon are around for such a possiblity for a Trailblazer successor.
Just because the body is new, I don't consider the rest of the truck new, I love Chevy (I own a duramax and have had 4 suburban) I recently rented one of these new suburbans on vacation, and my buddy who doesn't even have an interest in cars but has grown up with me and my subrurbans said it perfectly and I was surprised he mentioned it the other night, that he was shocked at how awful the new ones are. They have WAYYY LESS space than the old ones... it felt like being in my 87 corvette, they're uncomfortable to drive, not any faster unfortunately as I was looking forward to that part. But mostly just horrible utility and comfort due to everything being so much more cramped compared to my 01 Yukon XL. That thing you could stretch out and lay down in, the new subrurban feels like your driving a huge car. And the front bucket seats are just so awful. The console is high. I couldn't see the drive selector as easily... compared to the strides some cars have made in the same time like say my 97 or 01 jetta to my 2015 the suburban went backwards HARD. Which is why I bought a used duramax.
after Dodge announced the 6.4 in the Durango crazy thing is they are rated about the same tow compasity but one is a full suv and one isn't. and one is 4wd the other isn't
This is awesome I hope you guys get to test it! I think chevy did a great job with this and Its great that you can get a chevy tahoe or suburban with a 6.2lL .
Is it going to have a AWD or 4WD option or is it standard on it?
Put a Z06 ENGINE IN IT
6.2 420hp or 6.2 supercharged 650hp??
Common sense people!
That's not something any car maker would reasonably do nowadays.Chevy would have to rework a lot for the Tahoe to be able to properly handle 650 hp.
A "Rallye Sport" super heavy soccer mom truck ... go find the error. Idiotic vehicle which will likely sell well with the "big rim" crowd in the controlled substance distribution business
tangoESPECIAL do u mean black people ?
That Tahoe SRT looks so good, I mean Tahoe RST. I'm dyslexic.
very cool i wonder what the top speed for the tires are
6.2 L V-8 engine and it still can't out tow a V6 expedition
The expedition is a pretty good tow pig! Ever since it was freshened up in 07 it's been able to tow 9,200 lbs! That's crazy! ... and with that dog-of-a-5.4!!!
Maximiliano Luera oh well. The Tahoe might as well be the only full-size SUV on the road.
Maximiliano Luera take the two out towing and then come talk. Look at Chevy heavy duty, can out tow ram and ford diesels and they have a 32k towing capacity vs the duramaxs 23k tow capacity. Chevy has always been extremely conservative with their tow numbers.
Ford trucks are better built for work and take hell of more stress than any competition. Ford used their 5.4 aplication on there trucks for many years for a reason despite their awareness to the 3v shitty design.. even a 2003 navigator can out tow any new gm suv ..thats just the way the game goes
Geovanni Delgado hahahaha hahahahah ya right bud. The 5.4 is a fucking dog. I would honestly put chevys new 4.3 against it would be a fair comparison for power. The 5.4 isn't even in the same league as the 6.2
HENNESSEY is offering it at 508HP so yeah. I wouldnt say fastest Tahoe lol 🙈🙉🙊
Pfft I wouldn't let John the Conman change my oil.
Fastest production, fuckwit. Private companies modifying cars don't count.
Kingston1661 cam and headers on the 6.2 would easily yield 508 horsepower. Just do it yourself.
Rusty Shackelford
But you'll void your warranty by doing that.
dumbass
2:25 "peak performance when you want to drive spiritedly..."
But Officer! I was driving *spiritedly!*
did they put the cold air intake that is available for the current 5.3 Tahoe in there? bevausw GM claims that alone is 15% more power
When people call it a truck when it's definitely and SUV, I don't even care if Chevy calls it a truck it's not a truck, Jesus what's next the Chevy Corvette Truck? My God please stop
"body on frame. which constitutes it as a truck" -- No, it doesn't.
mountainhobo yes it does you bitch
ROFLMAO. Yeah... Lincoln Town Car, nice truck, huh?
@Brian -- My point is, "body on frame" doesn't mean squat. Truck is a specific type of vehicle, with open space for loading in the back, completely separated from the cabin. Calling an SUV a truck and then defending it is mentally sloppy. You can say "this SUV is based on a truck platform", that's fine, but it's still an SUV. Its function determines that.
TheExplosivePie it is a truck with a cover over the bed
any improvements on roof strength? incase of a roll over?
How much longer till you take this for a test drive?
will you guys apply for a long term test mule?
I have this sweet 6.2 Liter in my 2016 Sierra SLT, it's the best choice I've made this far for a pwertrain package option .
This is the most beautiful truck and they just made it a million times better
Transmissions look really cool
why didnt they do the 8.1 or 7.0 engine. No replacement for displacement right?
FirstBorn 13Naga Because the 6.2 was already widely produced and their other trucks already have it
Same engine as the Yukon and Escalade now for the Tahoe? 6.2L.
is it gonna burn oil like the 5.3 afm?
looks amazing!
Now that its out do a test drive +TFLTRuck
Wish it was coming out sooner.... I need to buy something now
Sounds like it would be fun to drive.Plus I guess you could load a family of 4 and tow a travel trailer. Of course that's for those rich enough to afford it. Hopefully their will be enough that can and will that it will be somewhat affordable when it hits the used car market. On a side note I wonder how good it will go in the snow and if it can do some light offroading. Can you maybe do Ike,goldmine hill and the MPG loop with it?
When are they coming with Shifter on the Floor?
I wonder if the regular Tahoe/Suburban will be offered with the eight or new 10 speed 🤔
Did you guys ask if it that package was going to be available on any other model?
10 speed coming to the rest of the Tahoe/Suburban line up or just the RST?
Hey TFL, is the premier trim the new name for LTZ?
I'd want an RST badge, I've seen lots of trucks with blacked out bow ties and "Tahoe" or "suburban" from aftermarket put the badge on it!
I sure hope that that the 2018 ESV will come with this BBK and the 10 speed!!!
my friend had a Joe Gibbs performance Chevy Tahoe that thing was supercharged and performance. It was nice and fast!
i have been looking at the denali and the escalade mainly because of the 6.2L now im gona wait save a little money.
Are they going to offer the 6.2L in the PPV? That'd be sweet.
Great work GM, looks gorgeous; the 1st Tahoe to break $80-85K?
Remember that the 10 spd transmission was developed by For & GM but both have their own gears ratio and goodies, same with the CVT who's Nissan but Honda & Toyota change it a bit , got a recall on the cvt 2015 Rogue need an update on the TCM :(
Haha that intro is great!
Finally a performance tahoe!.
what was the rear end ratio? the 6.2 in the truck is i believe 323's which does nothing for speed. it should have at the least 342 or 373
What is the big deal here? Shoehorned in the 6.2? It is the same physical dimensions as 5.3. Am I missing something here? Is the 6.2 no longer available on Tahoe/Suburban without this package? Is this just another way Chevy has figured out to get more money from people who want the 6.2? Other than minor appearance, what is so special. The new 6.2 has been out for a couple of years now and in this "sport" package it is not even supercharged or more powerful. And the 10-speed should be standard across the entire truck line, IMO.
One of the only times in memory a rep hasn't started every response with "um" or "erm"
I'm very confused about a performance oriented 6.2L with power numbers similar to an M4. Shouldn't those numbers be up about a 100 points?
Does it come with four wheel drive.
Agree! A modern day SS454 model. Put the same tune as the Stingray LT1 in it.
Ok Roman when comparing apples to apples you need to test towing comparison between the Durango RTS 392 and the Tahoe RST 6.2l.
I don't see the big deal about the 6.2 in the tahoe. Its been available in the Yukon Denali for years.Same vehicle.
can that go in my trailblazer 2002 ltz?
Are the throwing the new engine in that police truck too?
A good move by Chevy. This will be popular because Tahoe's practical and this adds spice to the family truckster. It's not an SRT, it's more like an Explorer Sport; take your best performing engine that is compatible and build a sporty package around it. I like the Brembo and Magnetic shock options.
Jeep GC SRT, Durango SRT, or This? Any Opinions.
Impressive how they made a hot version of the Tahoe. I still wish that GM would overhaul the RS trim in the Chevrolet Traverse and give it the 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 found in the Cadillac CT6, as well as give it the Twin Clutch AWD found in the High Country trim and make it standard, give us a sport mode, and maybe even give us a 6-speed manual as an option if it's going to be the hot version.
Do they sell the Tahoe with a Duramax option?
Will it be available in 4WD?
2 words....f'n awesome!
