Long live wagons and hatchbacks! The wagon looks really good, better than the hacth.
Instablaster...
I really do miss the station wagon. Some of those "crossovers" are downright ugly. Welcome back.
"Sportback" is good looking, but HUGE kudos to Buick for the resurrection of the wagon! I agree with Roman; the "TourX" is downright sexy! Time for me to have a chat with the credit union!
We bought one and we are thrilled... the handling is very sporty and the style speaks for itself.
@@detroitghost7916 How has the reliability of it been?
@@Kamelo2001 Reliability has been superior. We are in the real estate business and that car is a business car. Perfect for the application and excellent on long trips too....Can't say enough positive things about it...
I'm not much of a GM fan, but I gotta say, the Wagon is quite a looker. Its a shame that Wagons aren't what they used to be. Myself I would love to have a wagon to drive around.
ShaunMMX Go and test drive a Ford Flex. They're amazing in ride and performance as well
Jerry Gilliland I hear they are quite good but they are still considered to be a crossover.
TheManInDboX I'm actually close enough to try to find a TSX Wagon, though wish they gave it the V6.
Don't we all wish they still made those.
Its not from GM, Its from Opel.
the wagon would be my pick
It's a shame wagons aren't more popular in the states, they're a great category and often use way less fuel than SUVs.
Daniel McMahon, totally agree with you...
Until the XC90, 60% of Volvo sales came from wagons. SUVs are just jacked up wagons. VW, Audi still sell lots of wagons but BMW and Mercedes not so much. I've had Ford Fairmont, Volvo 145 & V70, Audi a6 wagons. Had a Jetta TDI DSG wagon before a focus wagon, before the A4 wagon I'm driving now. Would love a 328 diesel, xDrive wagon with manual. Or this Buick.
I've owned 2 SUV's and 2 station wagons and like the driving qualities of wagons much better. I don't understand why this well designed model doesn't sell better. If the Envision is towable 4 down and all of these transmissions are the same type of 2 clutch Japanese why isn't the Tour X towable 4 down?
Dan G
I think they’ll make a comeback. This and the Volvo will be setting the pace I believe.
@@travelinben1966 Volvo & Audi are pricier while Tour X starts below 30k before incentives.
I've been seeing more and more new buicks on the road. They have undoubtedly become more and more popular with time that is certain.
It's great to see wagons are coming back. Cross overs are just terrible toe looking vehicles and I just don't need an SUV or truck. Wagons are the perfect balance of utility and car like driving. If I wasn't a Subaru fan, this TourX wagon would be high on my list.
I feel like he's not talking to me at all. I love wagons. Once you go hatch, you never go back. I'm actually sold on the TourX and plan to buy one.
Wagons were discontinued and replaced with dorky minivans by profit-hungry US auto makers in 1995. Americans bought overbuilt SUVs instead, at twice the price. I've been waiting for wagons to return. Better late than never.
if its priced slightly higher than an outback that wouldnt be bad. the outback is a little too simplistic and the german/swedish ones are too expensive.
A basic Regal sedan now starts at about $32K. I saw a top line one with AWD on a dealer's lot for $43K. That's a Regal, not a LaCrosse. When these come out, they will be loaded to the gills and I bet you'll be hard pressed to find a wagon for less than $40K. You can have a decently equipped V6 Impala for about what a Regal starts at and have much more car.
Get it while it lasts. I highly doubt it will last more than one generation since GM will give up on it due to to slow sales. I mean, as a Buick, it was going to be slow-selling to begin with, but as a Buick wagon, well...you can take a guess. I hope I'm wrong but it's a little hard to believe this is the car that make everyone buy a Buick.
Except I wouldn't drive a new Impala at any price - the taillights are a disaster and almost every one I see has some portion burned out, and these are almost new cars.
I agree. Just like some TV shows, it will be cancelled before it finds an audience. And now that Gm has sold Opel, there will be no development of future generation.
Thank you, Buick for bringing a wagon to the American market, and thanks Fast Lane for a great presentation
Wagons are love, wagons are life
I just noticed this wagon on FB the other day, having just bought a new Volvo V60 Cross Country. Now I know where the DNA came from to create this wagon, Volvo for life!
This is amazing! My family hasn't bought a Buick wagon since the Buick Electra Estate Wagon we still own it! We will be buying this! VERY IMPRESSIVE Buick!
absolutely stunning. I'm very excited about these new regals.
Respect points to Buick for this. I love wagons.
A real beauty this wagon buick.
Yes yes yes. I am liking a Buick for the first time in my 43 years .
I had a 1967 Chevy Impala station wagon with a 427 cubic inch engine and what a boat it was. Gas guzzling hog. You could put 3 adults across the front row, with room to spare, 4 adults across the second row and throw 5 kids in the back. Maybe even a couple more. No seat belt laws back then. You could fit a baseball team in it and go 150 miles an hour . Love those days. Family wagon with 385 horsepower from the factory.
Bring back the '95 Roadmaster!
-. .- Roadmasters are awesome, my mom had one and she loved it and so did I! Ours looked like something a 90 year old would drive, yet it had a CORVETTE, CORVETTE engine! We could pass like 5 cars at once, but our new car we got could barely pass a bike!
Buick has always had strong engines. They also seem to be one of the better built GM car lines.
I miss my old Roadmaster a lot. Mine was a '92 so it didn't have the Corvette motor but it could still get out of its own way. The seats were FANTASTIC. It had the best horn, too.
I love wagons too! I'm ready for a GS version now.
Not the CTS-V Wagon, but God Bless Buick. An American (slightly German) Sportwagon. Maybe this will influence Mazda to bring the Mazda6 Sport Wagon to our market as well... With the 2.2L Diesel maybe even.
lol, gotta get that 16mm lift. That'll get you over over some obstacles...
Its built for the road unlike a Subaru. The low ride height and AWD works well in snowy conditions.
Zin Gaming. If it's made for the road, why lift it?
Its raised to be socially acceptable not to go offroad. It might help a bit in the snow tho.
_Suburban_ snow maybe?
If I get this, the first thing I'll change us the suspension.... stance.
We have one equipped with every option…the TourX is a great car: Super practical, sleek looks with its long & low shape, even stands out from other *wagons* let alone all the CUV/SUVs, loads of rear leg room, beautiful pano sunroof,
*Only* gripes: lack of storage cubbies vs. VW’s, no paddle shifters or sport mode, no auto wipers/high beams.
The sport back will be mine 😍
I'm just glad it's not another crossover/SUV. My forward visibility is bad enough with 50% of all vehicles being SUV's and trucks.
I like the wagon but not the cladding over the wheels. Doesn't make it look rugged to me.
I've never been into wagons, but man that looks nice! Well done Buick!
Beautiful! I might consider trading in the Outback.
It will be unfortunate, but at some point, Opel will no longer be able to provide sporty cars for Buick. Maybe not now or next year, but at the next redesign in 4 to 7 years, I wonder how likely Buick will have access to the sportiest platform in their inventory?
malibu and lacrosse are on same platform. It's not exclusive to Europe.
All GM intermediates have used this exact platform since about 2007. They'll be fine.
Opel has been using GM platforms for over 20 years now. This is one of the biggest challenge for PSA replace all GM technology by their own
cadillac. I think buick will be taking more of cadillacs platform like chevy has. which means less uniqueness and more just trim seperation.
Sheth - The Lacrosse is not on the same platform as the Malibu. The Regal shares the Malibu platform in this new generation. It used to be that the Regal, Malibu, Impala, and LaCrosse all shared one platform as the last generation, Epsilon II had an extended (stretched) wheelbase and standard wheelbase but that is no more. The current Impala is still on Epsilon II and will move to the LaCrosse's platform in the next update.
Gave up the wagon when I sold the Jetta and bought the CC in January. I will definitely be checking out the Buick wagon when it's time to sell the CC.
We got this wagon primarily because it was so low. It's convent to transfer my father from wheel chair directly to the seat. Oh, we also got the Buick because it is bad ass and a drop dead sexy ride!
Four driving wheels, 2 differentials, 1 transfer case, 8 speeds plus turbo lag. Something is always switching. The current Regal has this problem- it never feels fully engaged. Other than that, it's great. I'd buy this new one on looks and features alone. Just don't expect driving it to feel as good as it looks.
Buy it for dependability also, if it's like Buick as a whole in that area.
J Segal the old regal has a 6speed wich was trash
I love the wagon. My husband who doesn't like wagons. He wants this wagon. Good review.
The wagon is nice!
Making it awd is a wise decision. Although I think it should have a V6 instead of a 4. On a side note when I was a kid my Dad had a big white Pontiac station wagon. That's been along time ago.
I could learn to like the wagon, Roman. I'm with you. Why have a tall, non-aerodynamic brick like my 2013 4Runner, if I'm not going off-road?
As someone who's family grew up with a number of Buick station wagons, KUDOS for offering one!!
That being said, I was hoping Buick would do something different for the next generation Regal.... instead, they made an UGLY sedan that looks like a Subaru Impreza (those rims I swore were Impreza units). So much for them building a new Grand National.
Why can't a company offer an enthusiast vehicle that DOESN'T have all kinds things that beep and sound off while you're driving with the option of NO navigation?? It must be my age showing through that I just want analog switches with less electronics?? I guess I'll stick with my "old school" hot rodded Subaru with a manual transmission, thanks.
Take the Cascada- give it a redesign a la Regal, the same AWD 2.0t + 9speed, and give it a hard top and boom, you might actually have an interesting car, Buick
Finally, after I don't know how many years, Buick has designed a good looking car! Or in actuality, stuck it's badge and grill on a good looking Opel.
I look forward to see this Buick, I would like to have a wagon.
damn they need to shoehorn a turbo v6 or small v8 in that wagon
Australia gets a 3.6 liter V6!
Love it! Wagons always were, and still are, the best of form and function.
Always.
Hope it gets good MPG! I travel for business and didn't want an SUV or crossover currently driving a Subaru Wagon and would love the additional space
So GM brought back the SAAB 9-5 SE Wagon.
That wagon is such a looker! Now if it had the air ride of the Trailhawk and the engine from the GS.....
Wagons!!! Very cool platforms with very nice tech. Being a 2.0L turbo Ecotec will be a lot of fun for the ECM tune market. It will easily tune to 300hp/330ft-lbs.
you guys really are making some of the very best new vehicle video's out there. motor trend and car and driver should take notes.
In the market in 2018 and this looks to be on the shortlist. Positive.
...Not too many people are buying wagons...BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ANY...DUH...;--(....
this is awesome looking wagon
I just called my local Buick guy and have an appointment to preview the wagon in an hour. Now my choice will be down to two cars ... Genesis G80 or the Buick Tour X wagon. Decisions. 🤔 Decisions 🤔
Which one did you choose?
this American likes the wagon.
It looks great! Nice to see a new station wagon available in the US
Nice overview Roman, thank you 👍🏼
I have like Buick for a long time (except the grandpa stage they went though), and I'm glad they have been trying to get a younger market for a while now. I was really happy when the Regal made a comeback and it has only been getting better and better. While it was a bit of a boat, I still loved driving my mom's 96 Regal with the 3800N/A series II, was definitely more fun that my 91' S-10 with 90 hp, lol. The new line of Regals looks amazing and I really love the wagon (I would love to have an old GS wagon). If I remember right 2018 is also the first year since the Regal's return that it will have a V6 again with 310hp coupled with the AWD system in the Regal GS. Also I heard that GM recently renewed the copyrights on Grand National, GN, Grand National Experimental, and GNX. So I'm hoping we will soon see a new Regal GN with AWD and a twin turbo V6 making 500hp and beating the Camaro SS, Mustang GT, and Challenger R/T Scat Pack down the strip, of coarse in all black only.
It's good that station wagons are coming back, i hope other brands follow
Love it. I'll have a wagon in white with tan leather interior, please. No need to gift wrap it, it's for me. Hopefully, it has a towing rating....preferred 3500lbs (but would grudgingly accept 2K) and a highway fuel range more than 500 miles.
Coming off of a 2015 Toyota Venza lease. The Buick Tourx seems like a perfect replacement minus a V6 and 20" tires like the Venza.
love that wagon!
yes , ive been waiting for a wagon. I was considering buying a old amc eagle cause of its awd. This will be greatly considered when i buy a new car
LOVE IT! Fantastic job Buick.
Wagon, Yeah!
I would go with the Sportback because you can get the V6 which comes with the GS trim which is only available on the Sportback. GS also comes with Brembo brakes and optional heads-up display.
I wonder why we don't have more hatchback design trunks rather than just sedan design. In Europe the Ford Mondeo (our Fusion) is sold as a 5 door, very similar shape, but the trunk opening is just like in the Regal Sportback and you can fit a big box or even a bike with the rear seats folded. Our market really is wierd.
I love station wagons
Man I hope you guys get the wagon to review I like it a lot.
Can't wait to see someone raise it 21 inches
Yay! Wagons are back! Well at least not the ugly Outback nor the super expensive V90 or German offerings. I often pick up an Insignia or Mondeo wagon (ahem estate car) when traveling in Britain. I like them. So what will the price be?
They get all the wagons over there.
I love the wagon
That's a good looking wagon... The CTS wagon is still my favourite though short lived.
I feel like wagons are going to make a comeback soon.
Love the wagon it's gorgeous
I like this TourX! And volume for volume and feature for feature, it seems mich less expensive than a crossover SUV. SN: Video sound quality is greatly diminished on your interior talks in this video and your Terrain Denali video. It's perfect outside the vehicle!
That panoramic sunroof better make production!
Remember the last road master wagon?
I like the wagon. I think it is a good move for Buick to step into Volvo/BMW/Mercedes market a bit. The Sportback and wagon give them something that is different than others in the sedan market and different is the only way Buick has a shot at moving cars. They have had some really good traditional sedans that have not gotten traction in this very crowded sedan market.
that wagon is amazing
those cars will also be sold in Australia as the next Holden Commodore. except we will also get a 3.6l awd model.
Love wagons! I drive a turbo Outback with a MT.
they can raise the ride height 16mm but they are uncapable of raising the rear headroom...
And that's GM for you.
That red paint under low light, wow.
I like the look and practicality of wagons, so I bought a new Subaru Outback. Also like my small suv, no more sedans for me but I do like the style of several.Hope wagons regain popularity.
4th quarter of 2017......not 18! Glad to help..
Streets of Hell 928 November and I’m still waiting
Yeah I love wagons too, I hope they don't make too many to sit around. Most people who have money may prefer an Outback/just a mid grade suv/van. Thank you for doing on report on it,I wish they had the Mazda wagon here.
I hope the Sportback model offers the Grand Sport version like the Opel and Vauxhall Insignia does!
I really want to get my hands on the TourX. My 13-year-old daughter says it looks cool!
that sportback 🔥🔥🔥
i love wagons and this does look good, BUT this should not be a buick brand car with the plastic cladding. lower it back down and get rid of the cladding it would look good as a buick
Mike Utoober In Europe you can get the wagon version that is lower and doesn't have the cladding.
Sadly, this is probably the only way you can get Americans to buy wagons. I can't remember a successful station wagon since the older Outbacks. Subaru doesn't even sell a legacy wagon anymore
A lowered wagon with no cladding and the new GS' V6 would be killer.
Wow, never knew that raising a car 16 mm or 0.63 in makes it "rugged"
Buick rep if you are reading this, offer the wagon with the 2 liter diesel from the Cruize and you will have all of the ex-TDI Sportwagen owners flocking to this thing like mad! The Jetta Sportwagen has something like an over 50% take-rate on the diesel engine.
You would be stupid to no capitalize on those customers especially since they are just now giving back their cars to VW and have a tone of cash in their pocket.
Offer it in manual and the publicity alone from the car press will sell you more units to make it worth the certification...
Overall I like the car and the wagon. I noticed in the reflection on the interior windshield that it may have a projector for a HUD. I think the Opel versions ride height and no black fender trim better. He said "they still want to be a drivers car with spirited performance" then they didn't add paddle shifters.
I drive a 2007 Mercedes E350 Estate Wagon, and love it. Station wagons are handy, easy to operate, and carry a lotta stuff in the back...especially when the 2nd row seats are flopped down. I will look at this vehicle - this year - to replace my MB. Why? MBs are way too expensive on my budget...and replacement part prices rape you.
Station wagons rule!!!!!!!
Buick or GM needed to bringing back the Buick Roadmaster Estate.
You are right. Until that model returns the road will have no master.
the Buick rep, sounds like it was the first time he's seen the wagon. cliché catch phrases that have nothing to do with the automobile.
I was thinking the same thing.
Michael Taylor
Me too.
nice nice nice station wagon!! love it!!!!!!
I would have loved one of these! Too bad I've never seen one in real life.
Damn this is a nice car. if I didn't just buy a new Outback I would definitely check this out.
