  • Comp Cams VVT Cam Phaser Limiter doesn't remove your Variable Valve Timing, but it maximizes power with a smaller window of change.The VVT on such equipped LS engines have a 50+ degree of variation from the computer controls. By advancing and retarding the cam timing, the ECM can maximize efficiency and power output more effectively than without VVT. Obviously, GM was more interested in passing CARB standards and emissions than they were increasing power.
    The Comp Cams 5456 VVT Cam Phaser Limiter limits the VVT to just about 20 degrees of variation, thus maximizing the power potential. This enables us to change the Cam profiles without changing cams, hence making changes on the fly. With this, you also need to do some custom tuning to the ECM, so it doesn't think there is still 50-degrees of VVT phasing available.

    Should loctite be used on those bolts?

    That limiter can be use with original camshaft ?.
    Some facers are 62 degrees and others 52 degrees right?.

    I guess cam gear balance is of no concern?

    This phaser limiter Required in all cams? Have a stage 2 and the phaser limiter is optional… trying to find out why that would be optional and not in a cam package….

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  Před 2 lety

      That cam-phaser is required on certain cams, and you must re-program the ECU if you are changing any of this. If you out a cam that doesn't require a phaser and you're replacing a cam-with-phaser, then you much re-program as well.

    2:40 Sir what size bit are you using, what is it called 🤔

    • @Shoptoolreviews

      That's a Torx bit. I'm not sure of the size. Probably T25 or T30.

    Can’t Ecu programming do this as well? Or only
    Mechanical?

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  Před 2 lety

      The ECU can handle some static timing but it can't eliminate the variable valve timing. This is actuated by a spring and oil pressure.

    I am getting code p0011 after installing this kit. Any advice??

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  Před 4 měsíci

      That's definitely a VVT code. Did you have the truck/suv tuned after installing the new kit. You must have to tuned, and they'll have to tune in the new small parameters of the cam phaser.

      @aramishernandez6109 Před 4 měsíci

      No I did not tune after installing the kit , the comp cam website said not tune needed with stock camshaft, I have factory camshaft

      @@Shoptoolreviews O figured it out was a little more complicated than a cassette tape.
